1930 APR 18 CC MINJ El Segundo, California. April 18th, 1930. A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by George Love, Mayo r. ROLL CALL, Councilmen Present: Binder, Krimmel, Selby and Love. Councilmen Absents Gerow. READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS 11EETINGS. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 11th day of April, 1930, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman Binder, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held on the 16th day of April, 1930, were read without error, or omission being noted, and were approved as read upon motion of Councilman Binder, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, which carried. WRIT'IMT COWTUNICATIONS. The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated: SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON CO., dated April 14th, 1930, requesting permission to replace certain of its poles. Moved by Councilman Krimmel and seconded by Councilman Binder, that Southern California Edison Company be and it is hereby granted permission to replace poles in the following positions, to -wit: Pole #138891 -E Alley west of :Concord Street, Holly Avenue. » #138892 -E Alley West of Concord St., 400 " #138893 -E » » » » ti 550 " 5921 -T " " " " » 270 150 ft. EL SEGUNDO CHAI:4BER OF CO104ERCE, dated April 17th, 1930, commending the Council for its foresight in acquiring property situated between the High School and the Grammar School of the City of E1 Segundo and in planning the building of a public library on this site at some future date. Ordered filed. FAULKNER, OAKES & FAULKNER, dated April 17th, 1930, requesting the privilege of submitting an estimate on the annual audit of the municipal books and records. Ordered filed. GEORCE Y. EASTON, dated April 17th, 1930, calling the Council's attention to alleged improper - practices of certain slaughter houses within or near Los Angeles County and urging the adoption of an ordinance requiring that all meat kept or exposed for sale within the City of E1 Segundo shall bear the stamp "California Inspected and Passed", or "U. S. Inspected and Passed ". It appearing that a similar communication had been presented to .the City Council of the City of Inglewood on the 14th inst., and that that Body had referred the matter to the County Health Officer for a report, the herein referred to communication was ordered filed and action in the matter deferred until the nature of the Health Officer's report to the City Council of Inglewood is determined. um EL SEGUNDO 770T.R&NIS CLUB, dated April 14th, 1930, expressing its appreciation of the Council's action in providing a park site adjacent to the E1 Segundo Public Schools, and commenting upon the possibilities of the erection of a public library on said site. Ordered filed. At this point, the hour being 7:25 o'clock P. IT., Councilman Krimmel was excused from further attendance at the meeting. ORAL CON 11 I C ATI ONS . Mr. G. W. Daniels addressed the Council, stating that he had been appointed by the E1 Segundo Chamber of Commerce to request the Council's consideration of the discontinuance of the use of the Gamewell Fire Alarm Telegraph Company's device at present in use as a fire alarm signal, and if its entire discontinuance is impractical, then the abolition of the 8:00 A. No and 5:00 P. IT. daily test blasts. Following some discussion, the matter was referred to the Fire Chief for investigation and recommendation as to a substitute signallin6 device. None. REPORTS OF ST.INDING COTU; ITTEES. REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND SPECIAL CUPMITTEES. The City Clerk reported that butting and Arnold, the owners of Lot 6, Block 95, had requested the segregation of certain assessments here- tofore levied ap:ainst the said property for certain public improvements, whereupon after consideration it was moved by Councilman Binder, seconded by Councilman Selby, that Resolution No. 229 entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SECUNDO, CALIFORNIA, ACaUIESCING INi THE REJ.UEST OF THE OWNERS OF CERTAIN PROPERTY WITHIN SAID CITY TO THE SEGREGATION OR DI'TISION OF CERTAIN ASSESSI:ENTS LEVIED UPON THE PROPERTY OF SUCH O1,71'ER, FOR THE CON - ST'RUCTION OF LATERAL SEVERS II' LATER LL SEI`TERAGE DISTRICT 1,10, 2 WITHIN S.Ln CITY, ALSO TIC' SEGREGATION OR DIVISION OF CERTAITT ASSESS1:7ENTS LEVIED AGAINST THE PROPERTY OF SUCH O`LTT:ERS FOR THE 112: OVEI.7ENT OF A PORTION OF ITAAPLE AVFITUE VVITHII SAID CITY, AS PROVIDED FOR UIMER RESOLUTIONS OF INTTE;TTION NTOS. 134 AND 61 RESPECTIVELY OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES (NO'e+ CITY COUNiCIL) OF SAID CITY, which was read, be adopted.. Carried by the follovring vote: Ayes: Councilmen Binder, Selby and Love. Noes: None. Absent: Councilmen Gerow and Krimmel. The City Clerk reported that Lodge No. 507, F. & A. 1%, desired permission to use the City Hall Auditorium on the evening of April 30th, 1930, whereupon it was moved by Councilman Binder, seconded by Councilman Selby, that this permission be granted and that the usual charge of $3.75 be made therefor. Carried. The City Clerk reported that the E1 Segundo Chamber of Commerce requested permission to use the City Hall Auditorium on the evening of flay 12th, 1930, and unon motion of Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Binder, which carried unanimously, this permission was granted, no charge to be made therefor, in view of the fact that the use to which said auditorium will be put on said night is a public use.
