A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of El Segundo,
California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above
date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by George
Love, MAyor.
ROLL CALL.
Councilmen Present: Binder, Krimmel, Selby and Love.
Councilmen Absent: Gerow.
READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS 1?E ETING.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 4th day of April,
1930, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by
Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Binder, that the minutes
be approved as read. Carried.
WRITTEN C 01 JUNI C.- TI ONS .
The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated:
SOUTH BAY BUILDERS' EXCHANGE, dated April 8th, 1930, requesting
the City of E1 Segundo not to issue licenses or permits to any con-
tractors except those licensed by the State of California. A
communication of the same character having been filed with this Council
on the 6th day of December, 1929, and the Clerk at that time instructed
as to the nature of the reply, it was by general oonsent ordered that
this communication be filed and that the reply thereto be worded to
conform to the action of the Council taken December 6th, 1929.
W. Y. DICKIES M. D., Director of Public Health, State of
California, dated April 1st, 1930, requesting the assistance of the
City of E1 Segundo in a state wide campaign to eradicate flies and
rodents. Ordered filed.
W. IT. DICKIE, M. D., Director of Public Health of the State of
California, dated March 31st, 1930, calling attention to the meeting of
the California Sewage Works Association at Sacramento, April 21st and
22nd, 1930. Ordered filed.
SOUTHKL*T CALIFORNIA EDISON COITATY, dated April 10th, 1930"
requesting permission to replace certain of its poles. The proposed
changes :saving been approved by the Street Superintendent, it was moved
by Councilman Binder, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that Southern
California Edison Company be and it is hereby granted permission to
replace its Pole #70393 -E, located on the West side of Virginia Street,
50 ft. South of Sycamore Avenue, and its Pole #70392 -E, located on the
Nest side of Virginia Street, 200 ft. South of Sycamore Avenue, such
work to be prosecuted and completed to the satisfaction of the Street
Superintendent of the City of El Segundo, Carried.
REPORTS OF STAIMING COMITITTEES.
None.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND SPECIAL CCMTITTEES.
The City Attorney reported having conferred with Mr. O'Connor
of the Los Angeles County Counsel's office, who advised that if the
City completes its proposed plan for withdrawal from the Los Angeles
County Library service prior to September lst, 1930, that no tax will be
levied upon property within the City of E1 Segundo for continuation of
the Los Angeles County free library service within the City of El Segundo
for 1931.
The City Attorney reported also having conferred with the Los
Angeles County iiditor with respect to certain taxes levied against

property recently acquired by the City of E1 Segundo in Block 85 of
said City; that the Auditor stated that general taxes would be cancelled,
but that it was not within his province to cancel special assessment
taxes, these having heretofore been levied by the City of El Segundo.

demands be allowed, and warrants drawn on and paid out of the General
Fund covering the same. Carried by the following vote:

NEW BUSINESS.
Moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that the
purchase of four tires for use on the garbage truck be and the same is
hereby authorized, the expenditure in connection therewith not to exceed
$78.50. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Binder, Krimmel, Selby and Love.
Noes: None.
Absent: Councilman Gerow.
Moved by Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the
Superintendent of the water Department be and he is hereby authorized
and instructed to replace certain riveted steel pipe water mains with
cast iron pipe, at the following locations, to -wit: In Pine Avenue,
from Valley Street to 350 feet West of' Street; in Hillcrest
Street from Pine Avenue to a point approximately 250 feet North thereof.
Carried by the following vote:
Aye s: Councilmen Binder, Krimmel, Selby and Love.

Absent: Councilman Gerow.
The City Engineer submitted a vacation schedule respecting
municipal employees in the Street Department, Sewer Department, Water
Department and Police Department, which it was intended, should govern

municipal employees in the Street Department, Sewer Department, Water
Department and Police Department, which it was intended, should govern

the vacation of all municipal employees in said Departments entitled
to vacations, whereupon &fter examination, it was moved by Councilman
Selby, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that the vacation schedule of
certain of the municipal employees, submitted by the City Engineer this
date, be and the same is hereby approved and adopted as the vacation
schedule for the year 1930, for the municipal employees mentioned in
said schedule. Carried.
Moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that
the lawns in the municipal parks and in the several properties owned
by the City, be fertilized, and for the purpose, the purchase of the
requisite quantity of fish fertilizer, at a cost not to exceed $75.00,
be and the same is hereby authorized. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Binder, Krimmel, Selby and Love.
Noes: None.
Absent: Councilman Gerow.
No further business appearing to be transacted at this session,
it was moved by Councilman Binder, seconded by Councilman Krimmel,
that the meeting adjourn, until Wednesday, the 16th day of April,
1930, at the hour of 11:40 o'clock A. M. Carried.
