1929 MAR 22 CC MIN,T 1 E1 Segundo, Calif. March 22nd, 1929. A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of hl Segundo, California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter E. Binder, Mayor. ROLL CALL. Councilmen Present: Gerow, Krimmel, Love, Selby and Binder. Councilmen Absent: None. READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS IJ.EETING. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 15th day of March, 1929, were read. No errors or omi6sions appearing, it was moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. lv'RITTEN C0120NI CATIONS . The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated: WALMR J. LITTLE, Assemblyman, 62nd District, dated March 18th, 1929, acknowledging; receipt of the Clerk's letter of Yarch 7th, 1929, and stating that he will be glad to give the Daylight Saving 'ill earnest consideration, and when voting Idiereon to bear in mind the recommendation of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo. Ordered filed. PACIFIC TELEPHONE & TELEGRAPH CO., dated March 14th, 1929, requestin€; permission to place one anchor on El Segundo Avenue west of Redondo Boulevard. FollowinE consideration, it was moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Company be and it is hereby granted permission to place one anchor on the North side of El Segundo Avenue, approximately 150 feet West of Inglewood — Redondo Boulevard, provided said work is prosecuted and completed to the satisfaction of the Street Superintendent of the City of El Segundo. Carried. H. H. LEWIS, dated 1Varch 22nd, 1929, being a request to purchase the garbage collected by the City of El Segundo. It appearing from the report of the City Engineer that the City's present method of disposal of garbage collected within the City of El Segundo will have to be abandoned, by reason of the removal of the hog ranch to which it is now delivered, and the City Attorney counsellinE the advisability of advertising for bids for the purchase of this garbage, rather than entering into a contract for the sale thereof with a private party without such advertising;, it was moved by Councilman Krim-nel, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the City Clerk of the City of El `'egundo be and he is hereby authorized and directed to advertise, in the manner provided by law, for the sale of garbage collected within the City of El Segundo by the Street Department of said City. WHEREAS, the location of such a plant in the industrial area of the City of El Segundo, East of Arizona Drive, would be a valuable adjunct to the industries already operating here; and 11111ERU.S, the Council, by general consent, hereto- fore agreed that said Pittsburg Plate Glass Company be invited to select El Segundo as the location for its proposed California plant; NOW T?1EREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the action of the City Clerk in telegraphing such an invitation to said 2ittsburg Plate Glass Company on the 21st day of March, 1929, be and the same is hereby ratified and approved. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Krimmel, Love, Selby and Binder. Noes: None. Absent: None.
