A regular me,�tin.g of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. %.i. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter E. Binder, Yayor. ROLL C 1LL. Councilmen Present: Cerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder. Councilmen ,absent: Selby. P2.',DITTC O1' I' TR? i S 077 PREVIOUS P EETING. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 19th day of July, 1929, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. VYRITTEI': COTJi 74IM- TIONS. The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated: J. L. POLEROY, County Health Officer, dated July 19th, 1929, being a report of the activities of said County Health Department within the City of El Segundo, durinL the month of June, 1929. Ordered filed. 111E D. LEVIS, Agent, dated July 26th, 1929, soliciting the liability and property damage insurance coverage for which municipalities must assume liability after llu ust 14th. The City Clerk reported havin: investigated the cost of employing a band for the purpose of giving a concert to advertise the City of El Segundo and recommended that the municipal band of Redondo Bea c employed for two concerts at ;'1100.00 per concert, this appeari the best and most economical arrangement which could be made a present time. The report was taken under consideration. 0 The City Clerk recommended the-repeal of the business license ordinance of the City of E1 6egundo, to -writ: Ordinance Teo. 12, with all of its amendatory o rdinp.nees, and the adoption of a new ordinance in lieu thereof, which would embrace in one schedule all of the provisions of existing ordinances on the subject of business licenses. The Council conceded such procedure to be desirable and the Clerk agreed to give the matter some study in conjunction with the Chief of Police, so that the thought might be carried out in the near future. Moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that Ordinance No. 162, entitled: Aid ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUITDO, CALIFORNIA, CHANGIL;G THE YA1'IES OF CERTAIN PUBLIC STREETS AND AVENUES ;vITHIN THE SAID CITY, TO -PJIT: THE 1WM OF J'239:; T:-.kT CERTAIN PUBLIC AVENUE Kiv'072' AS HILLCREST AVENUE TO HILLCREST STR✓'ET; THE Niii OF THAT CERTAIN PUBLIC AVENUE 1UT9.N AS BCNITA VISTA AVENUE TO LOiGA VISTA STREET; AND TIM, NAME OF THAT CERTAIN FUBLIC STREET HI�T(XvTi AS COLLING7100D STREET TO COLLINGIII AVENUE, which was intro -iuced and, read at a regular meeting of the City Council held on the 19th day of July, 1929, and reread at this meeting, be adopted. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Selby, None. PAYING BILLS. NESN BUSINESS. Moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that El Segundo Lodge No. 507, F. & A. M. be and it is hereby granted permission to use the City Hall auditorium on 'he evening of July 31st, 1929, the customary rental charge of ?3.75 to be made therefor. Carried. SPECIAL 0' -DER OF BUSINESS. The hour of 7:30 o'clock $. M. at this meeting, having heretofore been set as the hour and date for receiving and hearing of protests and objections to the proposed work and against the extent of the district to be assessed for the work or improvement of a portion of Oak Avemze within the City of E1 Segundo, under Resolution of Intention No. 210 of the City Council of the said City, the Mayor arose, announced that the hour of 7 :30 o'clock P. M. had arrived and inquired whether or not any person or persons present desired to file protests in the aforesaid matter. No person or persons present desiring the file protests, the Mayor inquired whether or not any protests had been filed with the City Clerk. The City Clerk announced that no protests had been filed with him, whereupon it was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that Resolution No. 214, entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, CONFIRMING THE ASSESSMENT FOR THE WORK OR IMPROVEI.!ENT OF A PORTION OF OAK AVENUE w °IITHIN SAID CITY, PROVIDED FOR BY RES "LUTION OF INTENTION N0, 210 OF THE SAID COUNCIL, PASSED AND ADOPTED ON THE 8TH DAY OF MARCH, A.D., 1929, which was read, be adopted. Carried by the following vote: Ayes= Councilmen Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder. Noes: None. Absent Councilman Selby. No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Love, that the meeting adjourn. Carried.
