1929 DEC 06 CC MINJ 367 El Segundo, California. December 6th, 19291 A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of El Segundo, California, was called to order at 7s00 o•clock P. M. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City by the Mayor, George Love. ROLL CALL. Councilmen Present: Krimmel, Selby and Love. Councilmen Absent: Binder and Gerow. READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 29th day of November, 1929, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held on the 2nd day of December, 1929, were read, without error or omission being noted, and were approved as read upon motion of Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Selby, which carried. IM-ITi'EN CO12TUNICATIONS, The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated: PACIFIC TELEPHOT%E & TELEGFAPH CO., requesting permission to set six poles and one anchor on the North side of 11%ple Avenue, between Washington Street and Arizona Drive. The application having been approved by the Street Superintendent, it was moved by Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the permit be granted, subject to the prosecution and completion of the work in a manner meeting the approval of the Street Superintendent of the City of E1 Segundo. Carried. REDO"DO DAILY BREEZE, dated December 5th, 1929, requesting an appropriation to assist in defraying the cost of preparing a publication on or about January 1st, 1930, designed to show the advantages of this district as a location for industries. Ordered filed. SOUTH BAY BUILDERS EXCHANGE, dated December 2nd, 1929, calling attention to Senate Bill No. 712 of the Statutes of 1929, entitled: !Contractors• License Law", and inquiring if this City would pass ordinances to assist in the enforcement of said law. After the reading of such communication, the matter was discussed by the Council, and after such discussion, by general consent the communication was ordered filed and the City Clerk requested to inform the writers that while this Council is advised by the City Attorney that the failure of a contractor upon public works to comply with the requirements of the Act referred to in the communication would not affect the validity of a contract with such contractor, that nevertheless the Council is disposed to suggest to all contractors, subject to the provisions of the said Act, to comply therewith, and especially to contractors upon public works. LaF'RANCE- REPUBLIC SALES CORPORATION, dated November 27th, 1929, advising of the merger of the American- LaFrance Commercial Truck Division and the Republic Motor Truck Company, and that said Corporation carries a complete range of sizes of motor trucks designed to serve municipalities. Ordered filed. I= REPORTS OF STAZIDING COTMITITTEES. Councilman Krimmel of the Public Works Committee reported that during the week, he, Mayor Love, Councilman Gerow and City Engineer Hutchins had made an inspection of types of paving and paving materials and that the written report he was preparing in connection with the matter would not be completed and ready for filing until one week from this date. REPORTS OF OFFICERS & SPECIAL COANMITTEES. Councilman Binder appeared at the meeting at this time, the hour being 7:20 o•clock P. M. and he immediately took his seat. The City Engineer announced receipt of a Grant of Easement from the 0. T. Johnson Corporation over a certain portion of Section 7 within the City of El Segundo, the form of which had been prepared and approved by the City Attorney, of the City of El Segundo; whereupon, it was moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Binder, that that certain Grant of Easement, dated the 27th day of November, 1929, between The 0, T. Johnson Corporation, and the City of El Segundo, a Municipal Corporation, of Los Angeles County, California, granting unto said City a perpetual easement and /or right -of -way for the construction, reconstruction, inspection, maintenance, operation and repair of mains and pipe lines for the conducting and transportation of water for domestic, industrial'and irrigation purposes, in, under and along the Northerly 12 feet of the Northerly 15 acres of the East 1/2 of the Northwest 1/4 of the Southeast 1/4 of Section 7, Township 3 South, Range 14 West, S. Be Be and M, being a portion of Rancho Sausal Redondo in the County of Los Angeles, and the easement conveyed thereby, be and the same are hereby accepted on behalf of the City of El Segundo, and the City Clerk of said City is hereby authorized and directed to cause the said Grant of Easement to be filed for record in the office of the County Recorder of Los Angeles County, California. Said resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Binder, Krimmel, Selby and Love. No es: None. Absent: Councilman Gerow. PAYING BILLS. Councilman Krimmel stated that it had been suggested to him that a white strip be painted in the center of E1 Segundo Avenue from Richmond J Street to Inglewood- Redondo it being believed that the weather.
