1929 AUG 09 CC MINJ 247 El Segundo, Califomia. August 9th, 1929. A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date, In the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by the Mayor, Peter B. Binder. BOLL CALL. Councilmen Presents Gerow, Selby and Binder. Councilmen Absent: Krimmel and Love. BEADING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 2nd day of August, 19290 were read, without error or omisaicn appearing, and it was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. WRITI'EN COMMUNICATIONS. The following comounications were read and disposed of as indicated* LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA MUNICIPALITIES, dated August 3rd, 19,%, respecting the methods used by several municipalities of the State of California in obtaining bids for insurance upon their motor vehicles in conformity with Section 14* of the Civil Code of the State of California effective August 14th, 1929. The City Clerk repork4d that the property owners in Block 44 had requested authority to circulate a petition calling for the improvement of the alley in said Block by the construction therein of a roadway. Moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the City Engineer be and he is hereby authorised and instructed to prepare an estimate of the cost of repairing the alley in Block 44 of the City of El Segundo by the construction therein of a macadam veneer paving similar to the paving in other alleys in the City of E1 Segundo, and to submit the same to this Council for its consideration in the preparation of a petition to be circulated among the property owners for the subscription of funds necessary to cause said alley to be improved. Moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the purchase of tires and tubes for the use of the Street and Mater Departments of the City of S1 Segundo be and the same is hereby authorized, the total cost thereof not to exceed $67.00. Carried by the following vote: Ayes Councilmen Gerow, Selby and Binder. Noes: None. Absent: Councilmen Krimmel and Love. Moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Selby, that C. K. McConnell, Fire Chief, be and he is hereby granted a two weeks leave of absence, beginning August 17th, 1929. Carried. Moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Selby, that Victor D. McCarthy, City Clerk, be and he is hereby granted twon►eeks vacation beginning August 19th, 1929. Carried by the following votes Ave a: Councilmen Gerow, Selby and Binder. Nose: Kong. Absent: Councilmen Krimmel and Lave. No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the meeting adjourn. Carried.
