1929 APR 12 CC MINf El Segundo, California. April 12, 1929. A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of El Segundo, California, was called to order at 7 :00 o'clock P. M. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter E. Binder, Mayor. ROLL CALL. Councilmen Presents Krimmel, Love, Selby and Binder. Councilmen Absent: Gerow. READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETIAG. Councilman Gerow arrived at the meeting during the reading of the minutes and took his seat, the hour being 7 :10 o'clock P. M. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 5th day of April, 1929, were read. No errors or omissions appearing to be noted, it was moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. WRITTEN CMNUBICATIONS. The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated: BOARD OF TRUSTEES, EL SEGUNDO GRA -,,MR SCHOOL, by Harry RaAWl, Manager of the Plunge, dated April 10th, 19290 being an invitation to attend the Grammar School Swimming Meet at the Grammar School Plunge, to be held Tuesday, April 16th, 19299 beginning at the hour of 7:00 o'clock P. M. Ordered filed. GOVERNORS OFFICE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, dated April 8th, 1929, being an acknowledgment of the Clerk *a telegram of April 7th, respecting Senate Bill No., 662. Ordered filed. MOTOR COACH CO., INC., dated April 4th, 1929s thanking the Council for its cooperation in the indeavors of add Company to obtain a franchise to operate a motor transit service between Santa Monica and San Diego. Ordered filed. SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS. The hour of 7:15 o'clock P. M. at this meeting having heretofore been eat as the hour and date for the hearing of protest* against the work or improvement of a portion of Oak Ave=*, within the City of El Segundo, under Resolution of Intention No. 210 of the City Council of the City of El Segundo, and said hour having arrived, the Mayor arose and asked if there were any person or persons present who desired to file protests against the work or improvement of a portion of Oak Avenue within said City. No person or persons desiring to file protests, and the City Clerk advising that no written portents have been filed with him, it was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that Resolution No. 212, entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUBDO, CALIFOWIA, ORDERING THE WROVE11ENT OF A CERTAIN PORTION OF OAK ATAM WITHIN THE SAID CITY, AS CONTEMPLATED IN RESOLUTION OF INTENTION N0. 210 OF THE SAID CITY COUNCIL, DECLARING TO WORK OR WROVEMENT TO BE OF MORE THAN LOCAL OR ORDINARY PUBLIC BENEFIT; THAT THE COST OF SAID WORK OR IVROV13MM SHALL BE ASSESSED UPON A DISTRICT AND DETERMINING THAT BONDS SHALL BE ISSUED TO REPHESEXT THE COST THEREOF, which was read, be adopted* Carried by the following vote= Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Krbnel, Love, Selby and Binder. Noes= None. Absent= Nons. None. Bone. ORAL COWJNICATIONS. REPORTS OF STANDING C=(ITTEES. REPORTS OF OFFICERS & SPECIAL, CTTEES. Jolt The City Clerk reported receipt of a communication from Mr. He S. Vhsrrett, President, Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company, stating that following said Company"s original investigation of El Segundo as a site for the location of its Pacific Coast plant, its efforts were devoted to another section, where it will probably decide to locate. The City Engineer reported pursuant to instructions given at the last regular meeting of the Council, that it will cost not to exceed #35.00 to stake the trees on Main Street, which have been affected by the winds following recent rains. It was thereupon moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that the Street Department be xathorised to not 2 x 3 stakes around those certain trees leaning at on undesirable angle in VLe parkings in Main Street. Carried by the following votes Ayess Councilmen Gerow, Krimmel, Love, Selby and Binder. Noes: Bone. Absent; None. The City Engineer reported that the Redondo Builders Exchange had invited the Building Departments and the City Councils of the Bay Cities to attend a meeting on Wednesday or Friday night of next week, for the purpose of discussing uniform building codes, Several members of the Council expressed a desire to attend such a meeting szd requested the Tngtneer to infozm them when the date thereof is definitely fixed. Councilman Krimmel expressed the belief that the pavement on the Westerly end of West Mariposa Avenne should be extended a distance of approximately 8 feet beyond its present teminaas. The matter was referred to the City Engineer for an estimate said report to the Council at its next meeting. None. None. UNFINISHED BUSINESS. PAYING BILLS. NEW BUSINESS. Moved by Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the purchase of twenir-five feet of red welding hose, twenty -five feet of green welding hose and one paint gun for use in the mechanical shop of the City of El Segundo, be and the sane is hereby authorised, the total cost thereof not to exceed #30.00. Carried by the following votes Ayes$ Councilmen Gerow, Krimmel, Love, Selby and Binder. Noe e s None• Absents None.
