E1 Segundo, Calif. September 21st, 1928.
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California,
was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. 1.. on the above date, in the Council
Chamber of the City Hall of said City by the City Clerk, the l`_ayor being absent.
Councilman Gerow was unanimously chosen Mayor pro-tem and he immediately called
the meting to order.
ROLL CALL.
Councilmen Present: Gerow, Krimmel and Love.
Councilmen Absent: Selby and Binder.

Shortly after the call of the Roll and during the reading of the
Yinutes of the previous meeting, Councilman Binder appeared and he immediately
assumed his duties as m=ayor, Councilman Gerow thereafter ceasing to serve
as 1.:ayor pro-fem.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 14th day of September,
1928, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman
Gerow, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that the minutes be approved as read.
Carried.
The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held on the 18th day of
Septer•:ber, 1928, were read without error or omission being noted, and were
approved as read upon motion b,- Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman
Krimsrel, which carried.

City of El Segundo. Moved by Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman
Gerow, that the following resolution be adopted:

owners of the City of El Segundo are willing to pay certain
moneys in the sum of X113.74 into the Treasury of the City of
El Segundo, California, and into the General Fund thereof, for
the purpose of causinE certain street improvements within said
City to be made; and

said City with instructions to nay the same into said General
Fund upon the adoption of the following:

Councilman Gerow of the =ublic �lorks Committee reported that 1:r.
C. F. Tracy had again asked that before the rainy season sets in, some means
be devised for controllin€ storm waters which accumulate in Lain atreet
between 1,-aple Lvenue and 7alnut hvenue durint the winter time.
Councilman 1�zimmel of the same Committee, reported that a condition
similar to the one mentioned by Councilman Gerow exists in ,lest 1aple
.,,.venue between Virginia Street and Bonita Vista Avenue. After consideration,
it was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Love, that the
Street Superintendent of the City of E1 Segundo be and he is hereby directed
to remedy flood water conditions in 1:ain Street between Yaple Avenue and Walnut
Avenue and in 'Jest I'_aple Avenue between Vir&inia Street and Bonita Vista
avenue. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder.

The City Clerk reported receipt of additional deeds for use in
connection with the Street Opening ProceedirE s initiated under the pro-,isions
of Resolution of Intention No. 154. Moved by Councilman Love, seconded by
Councilman Gerow, that the followinE resolution be adopted:
RESOLVED, that those certain street deeds dated the 15th day
of'September, 1928, exeduted by United Security Bank and Trust
Company, a Corporation, conveying to the City of E1 Segundo
for public street purposes the Northerly 40 feet and the ';iesterly
20 feet of the Southerly 285 feet respectively, of Lot 8, Block
104, E1 Segundo Sheet 11o. 3, as recorded in Book 20, Pages
22 -23 of laps, Records of Los Angeles County, California, on
file in the office of the County Recorder of said County,and
the property conveyed thereby, be and the same are hereby
a.acepted on behalf of the City of El Segundo; and
BE IT 7,RT,= RESOLVED, that the City Clerk of the City
of E1 Segundo be and he is hereby authorized, upon receipt of
advice from the Southwest Title Company, that throuEh such

instruments the City of El Segundo will acquire title e to
said property, free and clear of encumbrance, to cause the
said instruments to be filed for record, and to cause to
be delivered to the grantor the amount awarded it in the
Report of the Commissioners appointed for such purpose, under
the provisions of Ordinance No. 135 of said City.

The City Clerk reported that 1:r. J. E. Bender, No. 526 East 1=aple
Avenue, had requested that certain acacia trees be removed from the parking
in front of his premises. During discussion of the matter, it was brought
out that fi=r. A. H. Nutting, who resides in premises adjoining T'r. Bender,
had made a similar request of the Street Superintendent and several of the
Councilmen. It was thereupon moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman
Krimmel, that the Street Superintendent be and he is hereby directed to
remove. ; undesirable acacia trees from the South side of East Maple Avenue
between Sheldon Street and Penn Street,'and to replace the same with the
specie of tree designated for this location in the plans for street tree
planting heretofore approved by this Council. Carried by the following vote:

The Chief of Police announced the revocation of the appointment of
C. V. Bennett as a Special Police Officer.
The Street Superintendent reported that recently certain street
markers in E1 Segundo Avenue East of Center Street had been damaged or broken
by persons unknown, but in vies;- of the recent fogs he felt that these markers
should be replaced as a matter of safety. It was thereupon moved by Councilman
Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the Street Superintendent be and
he is hereby authorized to replace necessary markers in E1 Segundo Avenue
East of Center Street at a cost not to exceed w35.00. Carried by the following
vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder.
Noes: None.
Absent: Councilman Selby.
The Street Superintendent advised that, with one exception, all
of the merchants throughout the City are cooperating admirably in the matter
of disposition of rubbish and garbage; that the exception is Daley's Store
and that notwithstanding repeated interviews with the local managers of said
store, he is unable to cause them to take care of 'their waste in the approved
manner. Following discussion, by general consent the Chief of Police was
directed to communicate with the management of Daley's, Inc., at Los Angeles,
with the view of correcting the conditions complained of by the Street
Superintendent.
The Street Superintendent recommendew the preparation and dis-
tribution of a card, giving notice to residents of the City of E1 Segundo
of the fixed days upon which garbage and refusL are collected. The suggestion
being approved by the Council, it was moved by Councilman Krimmel, seconded
by Councilman Lore, that the City Clerk be and he is hereby authorized to
prepare and have printed, for the benefit of residents and property owners
of the City of l aegundo, cards furnisrin€ information as to the days fixed
for the.collectior_ of garbage and refuse throughout the City of E1 Segundo.
Carried by the following vote:
