A regular meeting of the City �ouncil of the City of El Segundo,
California, was cs.11ed to order at 7:00 o'clock P. I::. on the above date,
in the Council Chamber of the City iall of said City by Peter E. Binder,
I::ayor.
ROLL CALL.
Councilmen Present: Krimmel, Love, Selby and Binder.
Councilman Absent: Gerow.
READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS 11EETING.

The minutes of t?ie/regular meeting held on the 16th day of October,
1928, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by
Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that the minutes be
approved as read. Carried.

REPORTS OF BTANDING.COIr?MITTEES.
None.
Councilman Gerow appeared at the meeting at this time, the hour
being 7:11 o'clock P. H. and immediately took his seat.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS & SPECIAL C0WTUTTEES.
The City Clerk reported that Mrs. N. L. Meads had made further
inquiry concerning the opening of a public street between Center Street
and ?enn Street for the convenience of property owners and school children
East of Center Street and North of Grand Avenue.. Following discussion
of the proposition, it was moved by Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman
Selby that the City Clerk be and he is hereby instructed to confer with
the owners of the Fisher Subdivision with respect to the City acquiring
right -of -way for street purposes across said subdivision as an extension
of Ylariposa Avenue East of Penn Street. Carried.
The Clerk presented Partial Release of Mortgage affecting certain
real property within the City of El Segundo required for street opening
purposes, under the Street Opening Proceeding instituted under Resolution
of Intention No. 154 and Ordinance No. 135 of the City of E1 Segundo.
Moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that that
certain Partial Release of Mortgage affecting the Northerly 40 feet of Lot
11, Block 13, Tract 1685, in the City of E1 Segundo, County of Los Angeles,
State of California, as per map recorded in Book 21, Page 98 of 1%ps,
on file in the office of the Recorder of Los Angeles County, executed the
18th day of October, 1928, by S. S. Carter and Lillie E. Carter, be and
the same is hereby accepted on behalf of the City of E1 Segundo, and the City
Clerk is hereby directed to affix his certificate thereto, showing the
acceptance of the same and to cause the said instrument to be filed for
record in the office of the County Recorder of Los Angeles County. Carried
by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Krimmel, Love, Selby, and Binder.
Noes: None.

M1 BUSINESS.
Councilman Gerow expressed dissatisfaction with the method of handling
service orders as practiced at the present time by Southern California
Edison Company and Southern Califo rnia Gas Company, which requires applicants
for service to travel to Inglewood and to Redondo respectively to sign up
for service, and that basing his opinion upon his own experience as a building
contractor and upon the complaints which have been lodged with him and with
the various municipal offices, and in view of the growth of the eity of El
Segundo, he feels that said Companies should open offices within this City
to take care of its local business. He expressed the belief that in event
said Companies objected to opening independent offices, that in his opinion
a joint office could be advantageously operated, and he felt that these
Companies should be requested to give immediate relief. The Council con -
curring in this opinion, it was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by
Councilman Krimmel, that the City Clerk be and, he is hereby authorized and
diredted to request Southern California Edison Company and Southern
California Gas Company to establish offices within the City of E1 Segundo
for the convenience of their patrons residing within said City. Carried
by the following vote:
Dyes: Councilmen Gerow, Krimmel, Love, Selby and Binder.
Noes: None. -
Absent: None.
Moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Love, that Underwood
Typewriter Company be authorized and employed to render monthly inspection
service on the three-Underwood-Typewriters in use in the municipal offices
of the Cityo_f El Segundo, the cost of such service not to exceed $10.00 per
machine >" Carried by the following votes
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Krimmel, Love, Selby and Binder.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.
No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was
moved by Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the meeting
adjourn. Carried.
