An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of El Segundo, California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. 1".. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter E. Binder, Mayor. The City Clerk being absent, the Mayor appointed Councilman Selby Clerk pro -tem. ROLL CALL, Councilmen Present: Krimmel, Selby and Binder. Councilmen Absent: Gero w and Love. READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS ITETING. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 5th day of October, 1928, were read. No errors or omissions being: noted, it was moved by Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Selby, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. IVRITMZ C0T.U'_"UNICATIONS. The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated: MRS. N. L. MEADS, dated October 5th, 1928, requesting that the Council give some consideration to the condition of the roadways in the acreage East of Center Street, as same are practically impassable at this time. Councilman Krimmel advised that he had taken a trip over the streets in question on Wednesday,, and that in his opinion some action should be taken respecting improving same. After discussion, by general consent it was agreed that Councilman Krimmel, Mayor Binder and Street Superintendent Gunn would make an inspection of streets in the acreage East of Center Street on Sunday, October 14th, 1928, for the purpose of ascertaining what can be done to put some of the streets in a passable condition, so that residents in that vicinity may have easier access to the main part of E1 Segundo than at the present time. SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSII;ESS. The receiving of bids for painting a certain steel water tank owned by the City of E1 Segundo, having been set for the hour of 7:30 o'clock P. 11. at this meeting, pursuant to notice thereof published according to law, the Chair announced the hour of 7:29 o'clock P. M. had arrived, and asked if there were any person or persons present who desired to file bids for the doing of said work. The hour of 7:30 o'clock P. M. having arrived and all bids being in, the Chair announced that the time for the receiving of bids for painting a certain steel water tank owned by the City of E1 Segundo, closed. The Deputy City Clerk thereupon announced receipt of two bids, following which it was moved by Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Selby, and unanimously carried, that the Council proceed to open, examine and publicly declare all of the bids received for the painting of a certain steel water tank owned by said Cityq The Council thereupon proceeded to open, examine and publicly declare P-11 of the bids received for painting a certain steel water tank owned by the City of El Segundo, which said.bids were found by said Council to be as follows, to -wit: "707 E1 Segundo Ave., E1 Segundo, Calif. October 11, 1928. City Council, City of E1 Segundo, E1 Segundo, Calif. Gentlemen:- 268 Regarding bids for painting steel water tank as described in your notice as published in the E1 Segundo Herald. I will bid a price of $700.00 to paint the water tank as per specifications as furnished by your City Council. Please find Cashier's Check to the amount of $35.00 equal to 55 of the amount of the bid. Respectfully yours, Frederick P. Tucker, Phone 171". Said bid was accompanied by Cashier's Check No. 10651, drawn on the E1 Segundo State Bank, payable to City of E1 Segundo in the sum of .,,$35.00. "Atkins & Scott, Contractors. The undersigned agree to paint the 100,000 gallon steel water tank located on the Reservoir Property of the 'eater Department of the City of E1 Segundo, California, on Lomita Street between Grand Ave me and Holly Avenue, -E1 Segundo, California, according. to attached specifications, for the sum of FOUR M -7DRED FIFTY DOLLARS ($450.00). N. H. ATKI.yS ROBERT E. SCOTT". Said bid was accompanied by neither bidders bond or check. Following discussion, it was moved by Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Selby, that when this meeting adjourns, it adjourn until Tuesday, the 16th day of October, 1928, at the hour of 7:00 o'clock P. M. and that all of said bids received, opened, examined and publicly declared this date, for the painting of a certain steel water tank owned by the City of E1 Segundo, be taken under consideration until said time and date. Carried. None. REPORTS OF STANDING COIUQ:IITTEES. REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND SPECIAL COPTITTEES. The Deputy City Clerk announced receipt of Partial Reconveyance covering certain property involved in street proceedings under Resolution of Intention No. 154 and Ordinance No. 135 of the City of El Segundo. It was thereupon moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that that Partial Reconveyance executed the 24th day of September, 1928, by California Title Insurance Company, releasing from the lien created by that certain Trust Deed recorded May 5th, 1928, in Book 8503, Page 281 of Official Records, Los Angeles County, California, the South 25 feet of the East 37 feet of the lest 97 feet of Lot 2, Block 94, E1 Segundo Sheet No. 3, in the City of E1 Segundo, as per map recorded in Book 20, Pages 22 and 23 of laps, in the office of the County Recorder of said County, be and the same is hereby accepted on behalf of the City of E1 Segundo and the City Clerk of said City be and he is hereby directed to affix to said Partial Reconveyance his certificate, indicating the acceptance of same by the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo and to cause the said instrument to be filed for record in the office of the County Recorder of Los Angeles County. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Krimmel, Selby and Binder. Noes: None. Absent: Councilmen Gero w and Love. UNFINISHED BUSINESS. None. NEIL BUSIFXISS. None. No further business appearing to be transacted at this session, it was moved by Councilman Selby, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that the meeting adjourn until Tuesday, the 16th day of October, 1928, at the hour of 7:00 o'clock P. 3i.
