1928 NOV 02 CC MIN192"619 El Segundo, California. November 2nd, 1928. A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. I.T. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter E. Binder, Mayo r. ROLL CALL. Councilmen Present: Gerow, Krimmel, Love, Selby and Binder. Councilmen Absent: None. READING OF I� INUTES OF PREVIOUS I,TETING. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 26th day of October, 1928, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Selby that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. ,+KITTEN C012 UNICATIONS. LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA ITNICIPALITIES, requesting adoption of a resolution approving Proposition No. 10 on the November ballot. The Council discussed the provisions of the said proposition and althouih no resolution concerning the matter was adopted, it was considered by general consent that the proposition is a good one and should be voted for. PACIFIC TELEPHONE & TELEGRAPH CO., dated October 26th, 1928, application for a permit to place one pole and one anchor, to move one pole and remove one pole adjacent to the intersection of Palm and Bonita Vista Avenues. Said application having been approved by the Street Superintendent, it was moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that the permission be granted. Carried. PACIFIC TELEPHONE & TELEGRAPH CO., dated October 29th, 1928, request for permit to set one pole and one anchor on the North side of Arizona Drive South of E1 Segundo Avenue. It appearing that the location referred to in this application is not within the public street, no action was taken and the Clerk instructed to advise said Company ace-,rdingly. REPORTS OF STANDING C017. -ITT ES. Councilman Krimmel reported concerning his inspection of the roof of the City Hall, follov:ine. which he moved the adoption of the follor:inE, resolution: RESOLVED, that the Street Department of the City of El Segundo be and it is hereby directed to repair t: -_e roof of the City Hall by asphalting seams, portions of fire -walls and the several gutters on said roof; also thorou- hly clean and paint the ladders leading to the roof and all pipes and metal work accessory* to the - diaphone signallinE- device erected upon the City Hall, and to replace the present 1/4" mesh wire screen arrester on top of the chimney with screen of 1/2" mesh, all at a cost not to exceed :;100.00. The City Clerk reported receipt of deed coverinL certain property 280-1,, � which is required by the City in connection with the opening of Cypress and other streets within the City of E1 Segundo, following which it was moved by Councilman Love, seconded b Councilman Krimmel, that the follozing; resolution be adopted: RESOLVED, that that certain street deed, dated the 18th day of October, D., 1928, executed by Los Angeles First National Trust & Savin.s Bank, a national banking association, conveyinE to the City or El Segundo for public street purposes the Northerly 40 feet of Lot 10, Block 104, El Se €undo Sheet I o. 3, as recorded in Book 20., Pages 22 -23 of ?.:aps, Records of Los AnE_-eles County, California, on file in the office of the County Recorder of said County, and the property conveyed therely, be and the same are hereby accepted on behalf of the City of El SeF-undo; and BE IT FU'r.THE R RESOLVED, that the City Clerk of the City of El SeLundo be and he is hereby authorized, upon receipt of advice from the Southwest Title Company that through such instrument the City of E1 Segundo will acquire title to said property, free and clear of encumbrance, to cause the said instrument to be filed for record, and to cause to be delivered to the grantors the amount awarded it in the report of Commissioners appointed for such purpose, under the provisions of Resolution of Intention No. 154 and Ordinance No. 135 of said City. Said resolution was carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Krimmel, Love, Selby and Binder. Xdoes: None. Absent: None. The Building Inspector advised that Mr. L. A. Farnham desired permission to renovate his building located No. 106 Richmond Street, by widening the front thereof, installing a plate glass window, and constructing a stucco finish on the said front wall. It appearing that the renovation proposed would in no way increase the fire hazard, but would have a tendency to reduce the same, it was moved by/Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Selby, that L. A. Farnham be and he is hereby granted permission to make such improvements to his building at No. 106 Richmond Street, El Segundo, as were reported to the Council this date by the Building Inspector of said City. Carried by the following vote: byes: Councilmen Gerow, Krimmel, Love, Selby and Binder. Noes: None. Absent: None. ded The City Engineer recommen1to the Council that certain portions of the City's Dodge Touring Car tie painted, that the valves be ground and the bearings checked and taken up if necessary, following which it was moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that such painting and such mechanical work as is actually necessary, in the opinion of the City Engineer of the City of E1 Segundo, on the Dodge Touring Car of the said City, be and the same is hereby authorized, at a cost not to exeeed X35.00.
