A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo,
`California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. 1 on the above date,
in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter E. Binder,

The minutes of the reEular meeting held on the 23rd day of March,
1928, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by
Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Cannon, that the minutes be
approved as read. Carried. _
The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held on the 28th day
day of March, 1928, were read without error or omission appearing, and
it was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that
the minutes be approved -as read. Carried.

The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated:
ER17EST H. PETERSO'ri, dated March 29th, 1928, requesting that sidewalk
and curb grade stakes be set in front of his property, being the .Westerly
95 feet of the South 150 feet of Lot 10, Block 97, E1 Segundo. I -loved by
Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the City Engineer
of tho City of E1 Segundo be and he is hereby authorized and instructed
to set sidewalk and curb stakes-in front of the Westerly 95 feet of the
South 150 feet of Lot 1C, Block 97, El Segundo. Carried by the following
vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Cannon, Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder.
Noes: None.

STATE COITENSATION INSURANCE FUND, dated March 24th, 1928, advising
that Hr. Dave Fahland has filed with the Division of Industrial Accidents
and Safety, an ap_olication for adjustment of a claim arising out of an
injury alleged to have been sustained while the said Fahland was in the
employ of the City of E1 Segundo, and that it will not be necessary for the
City of E1 Segundo to take any steps in the matter unless advised by the
said Fund. Ordered filed.
C. N. ELCAN, District Manager, Southern California Edison Company,
dated March 20th, 1928, acknowledging receipt of the Clerk's letter of
N:arch 12th, relative to the installation of a telephone in the El Segundo
substation of said Edison Company, and advising that upon receipt of a
survey from Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Company as to what will be
necessary to make the svgr`ested installation, the matter will be referred
to the management of the Edison Company and this City further advised when
Yr. Elgan has the information. Ordered filed.
C.1LIF'ORtIA REAL ESTATE ASSOCIATION, an announcement of the Third
Annual California City Plan Conference to be held at Pasadena, California,

The Clerk announced that on the 15th day of April, 1928, the Daniels
Hardware contract for furnishing the City of E1 Segundo with electric
lamps will expire, and that the same supplier, as well as the Electric
Shoo and J. L. Brewer, had solicited the business for the coming year.
The matter was considered at length and it appearing that each of the
local suppliers, with the exception_ of J. L. Brewer, had heretofore been
favored with a contract of similar nature, it was moved by Councilman
Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Love, that the Mayor of the City of E1
Segundo, be and he is hereby authorized to execute, on behalf of said
City, a Form "E" contract with the General Electric Company, through the
Pacific Division of its National Lamp Works, for the purchase of
incandescent lamps, said contract to be effective for one year from the
15th day of April, 1928. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Cannon, Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder.

The Clerk announced receipt of -a Partial Satisfaction of Mortgage
respecting the Northerly 40 feet of the Easterly 50.26 feet of Lot 14,
Block 9, Tract 1685, in the City of E1 Segundo, which said property is
required in the opening of certain new public streets under the
provisions of Resolution of Intention No. 154. Moved by Councilman
Love, seconded by Councilman Cannon, that that certain Partial Satis-
faction of Mortgage, dated ).:arch 26th, 1928, executed by Jessie Prescott
Walls, and covering the Northerly 40 feet of the Easterly 50.26 feet of
Lot 14, Block 9, Tract 1685, in the City of E1 Segundo, Los Angeles
County, California, as per map recorded in Book 21, Page 98 of Taps,
on file in the office of the County Recorder of said County, be and the
same is hereby accepted on behalf of the City of E1 Segundo and the City
Clerk of said City is hereby authorized to affix his certificate thereto,
showing the acceptance of said instrument by this Council, and to cause
the said instrument to be filed for record in the office of the
County Recorder of Los Angeles County. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Cannon, Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder.

The Superintendent of the -rater Department reported that the removal
of sand from 11.unicipal Water Department Well No. 1 has been completed,
and that the Lane and Bowler Corporation will put the pump back into
the well on Monday next.
The City Attorney announced that the hearing of the claim of Dave
Fahland before the Division of Ind--lstrial Accidents and Safety has been
set for April 19, 1928, and he asked the Council's opinion as to the
presence of Drs. Anderson and Anthony as witnesses at said hearing. It was
thereupon moved by Councilman Cannon, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that
the City Attorney of the City of El Segundo be and he is hereby authorized
to have Dr. C. Max Anderson and Dr. R. S. Anthony appear before the
Division of Industrial Accidents and Safety on the 19th day of April, 1928,
as witnesses in the matter of the claim of Dave Fahland vs. State Compen-
sation Insurance Fund, if it is possible to arrange for their presence on
said date; it being understood that all reasonable charges for their
professional services in this connection , if not allowed or paid by
the State Compensation Insurance Fund, ,shall be paid by the City of El
Segundo. Carried by the following vote:

lie City Attorney reported that subsequent to the amendment of the
California Vehicle Act, it was permitted cities to retain_ fines collected
for violations of the California Vehicle Act. The City of Huntington
Park, for some reason, continued to pay such fines into the County Treasury
•
instead of its City Treasury, and that it had deposited in the County
Treasury of the County of Los Angeles a total of `158.00, which it now
seeks to have refunded by said County. The County Auditor refuses to
refund said amount unless all other cities within the County join in a
waiver. It was thereupon moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman
Cannon, that the following resolution be adopted:
F1:�RE. -kS, it appears that there is now on deposit in
the office of the County Treasurer of Los Angeles County,
California, the sum of $158.00 deposited therein by the
City of Huntington Park,`California on account of fines
collected for violations of the R=otor Vehicle Act of the
? State of California;
AND .` =�_ S, said City of Huntington Park desires to
withdraw said amount from said County Treasury, but the
officials of Los Angeles County, California, feel that other
cities of the County should waive any possible interest, which
under existing statutes they might have therein;
AND =, ERE .S, the City of El Segundo,Balifornia, has no
just claim against said amount, having contributed no part
thereof;
NOW THEREFORE, BF-IT "RESOLVED, that the City Attorney
of the City of E1 Segundo, California, be and he is hereby
authorized and instructed to file, on behalf of the City of
E1 Segundo, California, by written stipulation or otherwise,
as said Attorney may deem best, the waiver of said City of
El Segundo to any interest in said sum of :158.00 or any part
thereof.
