A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of II Segundo,
California, was called to order at 7 :00 o'clock P. 11. on the above
date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter
E. Binder, Mayor.

Councilmen Present: Gerow, Love and Binder.
Councilmen Absent: Krimmel and Selby.
READIYG OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 15th day of June,
1928, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by
Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Love, that the minutes be
approved as read. Carried.
The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held'on June 18th,
1928, were read without error or omission being noted and were approved
as read upon motion of Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Gerow,
which carried.
IT= COE'II4UNICAT IONS.
The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated:
PATRICK J. O'BRIEN, dated June 21st, 1928, indicating that it is
his desire to erect a dwelling house on Lot 14, Block 49, El Segundo,
provided the set back lines herAtofore established in said Block are
altered to permit him to erect said dwelling house not more than 18 feet
from the Loma. Vista Street pro -party line.
Following consideration of the matter, the members of the Council
agreeing that in view of the fact that on Lot 15 of Block 49 there
already exists a dwelling house built approximately on the Lotra. Vista
Street property line, the request of 3s. O'Brien is reasonable,
Councilman Love introduced Ordinance No. 149, entitled:

CIALIFORITIA WATER RESOURChSASSOCIaTION, dated June 19th, 1928, asking
the Council's endorsement of Constitutional Amendment No. 27, commonly
laiawn as "Riparian Rater Amendment ", which will appear as Proposition
No. 7 on the ballot at the November, 19289 election. The Council
desiring to study the matter and obtain more data on the subject, the
matter was laid on the table for two weeks.
LOS ANGEL3S CHAMBER OF CODE CE, dated June 22nd, 1928, respecting
the meeting of the California State Parks Council, which will be held in
the Chamber of Commerce Building, Los Angeles, Monday July 2nd, 1928,
requesting that reservation card be returned immediately. By general con-
sent, the *Mayor was delegated to attend and represent the City of El
Segundo at said meeting, and the Clerk authorized to make the required
reservation.

The Chief of Police announced the revocation of the appointment of J.
F. Coulter as a Special Police Officer.
The Chief of Police announced the appointment of F. C. Goodrich as a
Special Police Officer and requested the Council's approval of the same,
whereupon it was moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that
the appointment of F. C. Goodrich as a Special Police Officer be and the
same is hereby ratified and approved. Carried.
The City Clerk reported that request had been made for an estimate of
the cost of improving Eucalyptus Drive from Maple Aveme to- Sycamore
Avenue, and thereafter the preparation of a petition in usual form, calling ,
for the improvement of said street between said points, in accordance with
the contribution plan heretofore adopted by the City Council.
It appearing more advantageous and economical to improve Eucalyptus
Drive from Maple Avenue to Walnut Avenue and it appearing also that before
estimates of the cost of improving said Street are made, that grades of
Eucalyptus Drive and Sycamore Avenue should be determined , -it was moved by
Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the City Engineer be
and he is hereby authorized to fix the grades of Eucalyptus Drive between
Maple Avenue and %lnut Avenue and of Sycamore Avenue between Sheldon Street
and Main Street, and to advise the Street Superintendent upon completion
thereof and that upon such advice, the Street Superintendent is directed to
prepare an estimate of the cost of improving Eucalyptus Drive between Maple
Avenue and Walnut Avenue, by the construction therein to grade of a macadam
veneer paving and to submit said estimate to the City Clerk, who is also
directed to prepare a petition calling for the improvement of said street
in accordance with the plan customarily used in such cases. Carried by the
following vote:

The City Clerk announced receipt of quotations from five suppliers on
tires, tubes and rims required by various departments of the City of El
Segundo. Said bids were examined by the Council and it appearing that Roy's
Garage was the lowest bidder, it was moved by Councilman Love, seconded by.
Councilman Gerow, that the City Clerk be and he is hereby authorized to
purchase for the Street Department
3 - 30 x 32 Heavy Duty Tires and 3 Tubes for the same.

The Street Superintendent advised that one of the City's road rollers is
in need of repairs, whereupon it was moved by Councilman Love, seconded by
Councilman Gerow, that the Street Superintendent be and he is hereby authorized

and directed to have such repairs as appear to be immediately necessary made
to the City of E1 Segundo road roller, at a cost not to exceed $50.00. Carried
by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Geroq, Love and Binder.
Noes: None.
Absent: Councilmen Krimmel and Selby.
The Street Superintendent also advised of the need of chain blocks for
use in the municipal warehouse when repairs to municipal equipment are necessary,
whereupon the clerk was instructed to obtain prices and weights of chain blocks
of capacities from 1 -1/2 tons to 5 tons.

and H. M. Flick be and they are hereby granted permission to take their
customary annual two creeks vacation, beginning July 2nd, 1928. Carried by
the following vote:

The Council, having been advised that a long distance reliability tour
of approximately 150 airplanes is shheduled to take place during the month of
July and will land at the Mines Airport adjoining the City of E1 Segundo, in
event certain runways are provided for th it landing, it was moved by

Krimmel and Selby.
No farther business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was
moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Germ, that the meeting adjourn.
