Ili. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter E. Binder, I;:ayor. ROLL CALL. Councilmen Present: Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder. Councilmen Absent: Selby. RFADIIV'G MNUTES OY.PREVIOUS 12EMMTS. The minute$ of the regular meeting held on the 29th day of June, 1928, -were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held on the 2nd day of July, 1928, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Love, and unanimously carried, that the minutes be approved as read. C1RI77EN C0I37MICATIONS. The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated: LOS ANGELES COLT"I'Y F_EkLTH DEPART 2INT, dated June, 1928, being a report of the activities of said Department within the City of E1 ,= eLnmdo, during the month of lay, 1928. Ordered filed. Petition of Elizabeth V. Owen and others, requesting the adoption of a resolution authorizing the improvement of Oak Avenue between L':ain Street and Virginia Street. Yoved by Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the following resolution be adopted: MR =SAS, it appears that certain residents and property owners of the City of E1 Segundo are willing to pay certain moneys in the sum of $1069.43 into the Treasury of the City of E1 Segundo, California, and into the General Fund thereof, for the purpose of causing certain street improvements within said City to be made; and 51EREAS, said sum has been deposited rrith the City Clerk of said City with instructions to pay the same into said General Fund upon the adoption of the following: NO:"' THERE-FO-11-E, BE IT RESOLVED That the Street Superintendent be and he is hereby authorized and instructed to cause the portion of that certain public street within `the City of El Segundo, known as Oak Avenue, lying and being between Main Street and Virginia Street, to be improved by the construction therein of the following improvement, to -wit:- I:acadam veneer paving similar to that constructed in Sycamore Avenue between Y.'ain and Virginia Streets. Councilman Krimmel of the Public forks Committee, reported that a portion of the curbing in front of No. 533 Whiting Street had fallen into the street. Following discussion of the matter, it was moved by Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Love, that the Street Superintendent be and he is hereby authorized to replace the damaged curbing in front of No. 533 1hiting Street, so that the same will conform to curb specifications of the City of El Segundo. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Y.rimmel, Love and Binder. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Selby, Councilman Gerow of the Public Works Committee, announced the fact that the City Limit signs had been erected at various exterior limits of the City of L1 Segundo, and that the same appear to be very satisfactory. Yayor Binder announced receipt of an invitation to attend the dedication _ of =fines Field, Sunday, July 8th, and recommended that signs be erected within the City of E1 Segundo directing motor vehicle traffic to said field. After consideration of the matter, it was moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the Street Superintendent be and he is hereby authorized to have dou-7le faced signs, lettered "?fins Field ", and an arrow painted thereon, indicating• the direction to the said Yines Field, and to have one of said signs erected at Collingwood Street and I:ain Street, and one at Collingwood Street and Inglewood- Redondo Boulevard, all of said work 'to be completed on the afternoon of Saturday, July 7th, 1928. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Selby. Councilman Krimmel expressed the opinion that streets throughout the City of E1 Segundo should be cleaned when such work can conveniently be arranged by the Street Superintendent, whereupon it was moved by Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Love, that as soon as he can arrange his work and organize for the purpose, the Street Superintendent is authorized and directed to clean all of the streets throughout the City of E1 Segundo. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder. Noes: hone. absent: Councilman Selby. The 11'ayor announced that he and Councilmen Krimmel and Gerow had looked into the matter of the erection of a corrugated iron storage shed in the rear of the municipal warehouse and that they felt the shed should be erected, and that the Street Superintendent had reported that he has practically all of the materials on hand necessary for the erection of such a building. Followint this report, it was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Krim!nel, that the Street Superintendent be and he is hereby authorized to erect a corrugated iron building- on municipal property in the rear of the municipal warehouse, at a cost not to exceed '20.00. Yoved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Love, that the purchase of one 30 x 312 Fiske Cord Tire and one gray tube for the same be authorized at a cost not to exceed N10.00, said tire and tube being for use on the Chevrolet Roadster of the municipal Sewer Department.
