REPORTS OF OFFICERS & SPECIAL COLITTEES.
The City Clerk reported that Mr. Dave Fahland, who claims to have been
injured recently while in the employ of the Water Department of the City of
E1 Segundo, had asked him to take up with the Council the matter of the
rejection by the State Compensation Insurance Fund of his claim for compen-
sation by reason of such injury, which claim Mr. Fahland supported with letters
from Dr. C. Max Anderson of Hermosa Beach and Dr. R. S. Anthony, of El Segundo.
The Council, desiring to have its employees treated fairly in the matter of
claims for compensation which are just, and desiring to be more fully advised
as to the reason for the rejection of the claim of Mr. Fahland by the State
Compensation Insurance Fund, the compensation insurance carrier of the City of
E1 Segundo, the said matter was referred to the City Attorney for investigation
and report to the Council.
The City Clerk reported that Mr. John F. Martin is desirous of having
Oak Avenue, from Main Street to Virginia Street, improved at the earliest
possible time by the construction therein of a macadam veneer pavement, under
the plan heretofore frequently used by the City and to that end requested that

Collingwood Street between Sheldon Street and Arizona Drive is not the result
of overflowing irrigation water, but the puddle is the result of recent rains
and that the point at which the same exists is low and not susceptible to
drainage. He stated that he honed to overcome the trouble by filling the
roadway with decomposed granite and this received the approval of the Council.
The Street Superintendent reported that when he undertook the con-
