A regular meetinF.,of the City Council of the City.of E1 Segundo,
California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. I3. on the above date in
the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City_by Peter E. Binder, Mayor.
ROLL CALL.
Councilmen Present: Cannon, Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder.
Councilmen Absent: None.
=IITG OF 1:'IIUTES OF PREVIOUS ;ETUXS.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 30th day of March,
1928, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by
Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Love, that the minutes be approved
as read. Carried.
The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held on the 3rd day of
April, 1928,-were read without error or omission appearing, and it was moved
by Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Love, that the minutes be
approved as read. Carried.

The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated:

TEAM, jointly, dated April 5th, 1928, thanking the City Council for its
interest and cooperation in the promotion of athletic amusement within the
City of E1 Segundo. Ordered filed.
COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, ?FEALTH DLFAR=NT, dated March 28th, 1928,
the same being a report of the activities of said Department within the
City of E1 Segundo during the month of February, 1928. Ordered filed.
SOUTHERN C LIFORI\TIA EDISON CO12ANY, dated March 29th, 1928, requesting
a permit to set one 40 ft. pole on the North side of Oak Avenue, 300 ft.
West of Penn Street. By general consent the City Clerk was instructed to
advise said Company that up to this time instruments dedicating the real
property required for the opening of Oak Avenue between Sheldon Street and
Penn Street have not avyXxt been received, hence said real property remains
private property and that the City of E1 Segundo has not jurisdiction to
grant the request prayed for; that the City intends, however, to prosecute
to completion the opening of said street as contemplated by Resolution of
Intention No. 154, and that the City has no objection to the erection of said
pole upon such guarantees as the applicants for service may be required to
give said Company, but that the City will assume no responsibility.
GOLD CREST REBEK�H LODGE 17,0. 357, I.0.0.3., dated March 26th, 1928,
requesting that beginning May 2nd, 1928, said organization be permitted to
use the City Hall Auditorium for its lodge meetings on the first and third
7- ednesday nights of each month in place of the first four Friday nights of
each month as used at present. IToved by Councilman Love, seconded by
Councilman Cannon, that the use of the City Hall Auditorium on the first and
third Wednesday nights of each month, beginning with the first 1,9ednesday in
Yay, be assiFEned to Gold Crest Rebekah Lodge No. 357, I.O.O.F., at a rental
price of X7.50 per month, in lieu of the use of said hall by said Lodge on
the first four Friday nights of each month, subject, however, to the right of
the City Council of said City to revoke said permit at any time in its
discretion and to the adoption by said Covncilof such rules and regulations
for the use of said hall as the City Council may from time to time determine.

City Gardener Budgen reported that the unimproved portion of Lot 2, Block
13, Tract 1685, has been plo,::ed and harrowed and is now ready for such planting
as the Council may direct.
The City Engineer informed the Council that beginning I,'_onday, April 9th,
1928, Yr. F. N. Evans desired to take the annual vacation which would be
awarded him in conformity with the City's practice of awarding two weeks
vacation to each of its municipal employees on its payroll over one ,year.
In discussing the request, it was brought out that it would be more practical
to grant I; =r. Evans his vacation at a later date when vacation schedules for
the police Department are completed, so thhat such relief as may be necessary
for both departments may be taken from another municipal department for the �
full term of vacation periods without intermittently breaking into the
organization of such other municipal department; hence the request was denied
and the City Engineer was instructed to so inform Yr. Evans and explain the
reasons therefor.
The Superintendent of the eater Department reported that the work on
Yunicipal dater Well No. 1 and on the Pump in said Well has been completed
and that the well is again in service.
The City Clerk reported that is -r. H. D. Foster had advised him verbally
that the Trustees of E1 Segundo First Methodist Episcopal Church are willing
to have the eucalyptus trees in Iariposa Avenue from Main Street easterly to
'.he Alley east thereof, removed.

I;oved by Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that as
soon as the City acquires title to the real property reeuisite to complete
any one block of the several new streets to be opened under Resolution of
Intention No. 154, the City Clerk shall notify the Street Superintendent of
the same and said Street Superintendent shall thereupon proceed to grade said
new streets or portions thereof dedicated to the City as above recited, from
property line to property line, after the City Engineer of the City of E1
Segundo has set grade stakes to a grade which will conform to the official
grade to be established in said streets. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Cannon, Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.
The City Engineer reported that certain repairs are needed upon the
Chevrolet Roadster in the Sewer Department service, whereupon it was moved by
Councilman Krimmel, seconded by Councilman Cannon, that the purchase of parts
and materials necessary to repair the Chevrolet Roadster of the City of E1
Segundo be and the same are hereby authorized to be purchased and the assignment
of =. :_organ, at present employed by the City of E1 Segundo, to perform the
mechanical work necessary in connection therewith, be and the same is hereby
authorized, at a total cost not to exceed X50.00. Carried by the following
vote:

Sepulveda Boulevard Association be and it is hereby granted permission
to use the Council Chamber of the City Hall for the holding of a meeting
of said Body on April 13th, 1928, beginnint at the hour of 8:00 o'clock
P. Y., no charge to be made for such use. Carried.
No further business appearing to be transacted at this meetinc-, it
was moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the
meeting adjourn. Carried.
