A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of El Segundo, California,
was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date, in the Council
Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter E. Binder, Mayor.
ROLL CALL.
Councilmen Present: Cannon, Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder.
Councilmen Absent: None.
READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on September 30th, 1927, were
read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman Krimmel,
seconded by Councilman Love, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried.
The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held on the 3rd day of
October, 1927, were read. It was moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by
Councilman Love, that the same be approved as read, except that the record
of the instruction of this Council with respect to constructing stairs and
an approach to the Bowling Court in the Grand Avenue Park, be corrected to
read: "That two approaches only to said Bowling Court be constructed, one from
the North and one from the South sides thereof, respectively". Carried.
t'MITTEN CO22MICATIONS.
The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated:
FRANK A. JEFFERSON, Mayor, Phoenix, Arizona, dated September 30th,
1927, calling attention to the Sixth Annual Meeting of the Pacific Coast
Building Officials Conference, to be held in Phoenix, Arizona, October 18th
to 21st, 1927, and recommending that at least the Mayor or the Building
Inspector attend said Conference. Ordered filed.
None.
ORAL CCNMUNi ICATIONS.
REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES.
Councilman Krimmel of the Public Works Committee called attention to the
fadt that the hinged platform in the easterly end of the City Hall Auditorium
has been loosened from its hinges, and he recommended a certain method of repair,
which it was thought might eliminate a repetition of the difficulty. Following
consideration, action was deferred pending the submission of a sketch by
Councilman Krimmel.
Councilman Gerow advised that the Council had looked into the matter
of the construction of a catch basin at Sewer Pump Station No. 1, so as to
obviate the necessity of sweeping wastage from the service building onto the
lawn adjacent thereto, and that it had been decided to connect such a catch
basin with the sewer outside of said building. It was moved by Councilman
Gerow, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that the Street Superintendent be and
he is hereby authorized and instructed to proceed with the work of connecting
a catch basin with the sewer at Sewer Pump House No. 1, at a cost not to
exceed $25.00. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Cannon, Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.
Councilman Love reported that the Little Wonder Air Pump has teen
repaired-and that the repairmen had advised that while the eccentri0o are
badly worn, the-same will last for some time.

REPORTS OF OFFICERS & SPECIAL COMMITTEES.
The City Clerk reported that Mr. W. H. Lennon had complained that the
streets in the vicinity of Whiting Street and Holly Avenue have never been
cleaned, and by general consent the matter was referred to the Street
Superintendent for investigation.
The Chief of Police announced the revocation of the appointment of J. W.
Sargent as a Special Police Officer.
The Street Superintendent requested that the Public Works Committee make
an inspection of the roof of the municipal building, which, in the opinion
of said Street Superintendent should be repaired; also certain portions of
Collingwood Street, which the said Street Superintendent is desirous of
performing some work upon. It was agreed that Councilmen Gerow and Krimmel
would personally investigate the matters on Sunday morning, October 9th,
1927, at 9:00 o'clock A. It.
UNFINISHED BUSIIrTSS.
Moved by Councilman Cannon, seconded by Councilman Love, that the
following resolution be adopted:
7.79EFZU, F. N. Evans, Sewer Pump Station Attendant, has
been required to work overtime the equivalent of five days, in
the discharge of his duties; and
"'I�RaAS, it appears more desirable to allow the said -
employee to have time off rather than compensate him for the
said overtime;
NOW T:,:EF0= -, BE IT RESOLVED, That F. N. Evans be and he
is hereby granted a five day leave of absence, with pay, to be
taken at such time as will suit the convenience of the City
Engineer.
Carried by the following votes

110- 142, entitled:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEMWO, CALIFORNIA,
ORDERING THE ESTABLISHIWT OF CERTAIN SET BACK LINES
ON CERTAIN PORTIONS OF LOMA VISTA SIRE T WITHIN THE
SAID CITY,
which was introduced and read at a regular meeting of the_City Council held
on the 30th day of September, 1927, and reread at this meeting, be adopted.
Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Cannon, Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.

No further business appearing to be transacted at this meetin, it was
moved by Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Love, that the meeting adjourn.
