1927 MAR 25 CC MINEl Segundo, Cal. Larch 25th, 1927. A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of El Segundo, California, was called to order at 7s00 o'clock P. M. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City by Peter E. Binder, President of the Board. ROLL CALL. Trustees Present: Gerow, KrI=el, Love and Binder. Trustees Absent: Cannon. READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 19th day of 11arch, 1927, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Trustee Love, seconded by Trustee Gerow, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS, The following communications were read and disposed of as indicateds J. E. GIBBS, dated March 19th, 1927, expressing his appreciation of the action of this Board taken March 11th, 1927, respecting his employment by the City of EL Segundo. Ordered filed. LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA MUNICIPALITIES, dated March 18th, 1927, acknowle(.ng receipt of the Clerk's letter dated Starch 15th, 1927, respecting Assembly Bills Nos. 901 and 9179 and advising that the latter had been killed in committee March 14th, 1927. Ordered filed. SENATOR CHAS. W. LYON, SPEAKER OF THE ASSEMBLY EDGAR Co LEVEY, and ASSEMBLYMEN WALTER J. LITTLE, MORGAN KEATON, ROBERT D. FRYT and GEORGE W. ROCHESTER, acknowledging receipt of the several letters of the City Clerk with reference to resolutions heretofore passed by this Board of Trustees respecting pending Legislation. Ordered filed. None. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS. REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES. Trustee Krimmel of the Public Works Committee reported as follows: That on the South side of Franklin Avenue West of Whiting Street a pile of dirt and sand had accumulated, apparently wished to the low point by recent storms; that the same condition exists in Virginia Street between Franklin Avenue and El Segundo Avenue; that in Virginia Street South of Franklin Avenue there is a depression in the roadway; that an acacia tree in front of the premises No. 327 Virginia Street is loose at the roots and leans toward the street and should be removed; and that the curbing in front of the promises situate No. 536 Arena Street had been broken by the road roller recently while repairing ditches. He reoommended that these conditions be remedied and by general consent the matters were referred to the Street Superintendent for attention. REPORTS OF OFFICERS & SPECIAL COMMITTEES. The City Gardener reported that all of the parkings in main Street, between Mariposa Avenue and Collingwood Street, had been cleaned and that the planting of ice plants will be started during the coming week. Pursuant to previous instruction of the Board, the City Gardener submitted a written report as to streets in which trees should be planted and as to the number of trees available for such pleating. Following discussion, it ins moved by Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Krimmel, that the City Engineer of the City of EL Segundo be and he is hereby instructed to make a map of the streets of the City of E1 Segundo, designating thereon, for the approval of this Board of Trustees, the locations of trees heretofore planted and to be planted in the future, and .4146 sn 11� when requested y the City Gardener, from time to time, to furniab stakes for tree planting hereafter ordered. Carried by the following votes Ayes: Trustees Gerow, Krimmol, Love and Binder. Noses None. Absent: Trustee Cannon. Moved by Trustee Love, seconded by Trustee Gerow, that the City Gardener be and he to hereby instructed to plant trees, as not forth in his report to this Board this date, in the following streets: Arena, Sheldon and Penn Streets from Pine Avenue to Mariposa Ave. Penn Street, North of Mariposa Avenue. Loma Vista Street, from Pine Avenue to Mariposa Avenue. Mariposa Avenue, East of Rain Street. Richmond Street, from Grand Avenue to Mariposa Avenue. Carried by the following votes Ayes: Trustees Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder. Aoess None. Absents Trustee Cannon. The City Engineer reported that Mr, Knowlton of the Engineering Department of the City of Los Angeles, had requested permission to use a portion of the City of EG Segundo's sewer pump station property on Collingwood Street west of Bonita Vista Avenue, for the purpose of making laboratory tests of a new process of burning screenings and sludge from the Hyperion screening plant. He stated that the test would last three or four days and would be unoffensive to persons living in the vicinity of the sewer pump station. The Board, desiring to cooperate in any matter having for its ultimate objective the removal of the nuisance existing in the sand hills west of the City of E1 Segundo, by reason of the dumping thereon of screenings from the Los Angeles outfall sewer screening plant, and in View of the fact that the City of E1 Segundo will be pat to no expense in making the test referred to by Mr. Knowlton, by general consent permission to use the City's premises for the purpose indicated was granted.
