E1 Segundo, California. March 19, 1927.
A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of El Segundo,
California, was called to order at 7s00 o'olock P. M. on the above date, in
the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter B. Binder,
President of the Board.
BOLL CALL.
Trustees Presents Cannon, Krimmel, Love and Binder.
Trustees Absents Gerow.
BRA DING OF THE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS 30M INGS.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 11th day of March, 19279
were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Trustee Gerow,
seconded by Trustee Love, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried.
Trustee Gerow appeared during the reading of the minutes of March 11th,
19279 the hour being 7s09 o'clock P. M. and he immediately took his seat.
The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held on the 16th day of
March, 19279 were read, without error or omission being noted, and were approved
as read upon motion of Trustee Love, seconded by Trustee Krimmel, which carried.
WRITTEN COM0NICATIONS.
The following coommunications were read and disposed of as indicated$
MRS. CARRIE BARBER, Corresponding Secretary, Woman's Christian Temperance
Union,, requesting, on behalf of the organization she represente, the use of
the City Hall Auditorium the evening of March 26th, 1927. Moved by Trustee
Love, seconded by Trustee Gerow, that the Woman's Christian Temperance Union
be and it is hereby granted permission to use the City Hall Auditorium on
the evening of March 26th, 1927, no charge to be made for such use. Carried.
HEALTH_OFFICM9 being a report of the activities of the Health Department
in the City of ILL Segundo for the month of February, 1927. Ordered filed.
ORAL COMMOICATIONS.
Mr. J. L. Brewer addressed the Board relative to obtaining permission to
construct a stucco garage building on the east side of the alley west of
Biohmond Street, between Franklin and El Segundo Avenues. In view of the fact
that such construction does not conform with the building ordinance of the City
of E1 Segundo with reference to the construction of buildings in Fire District
No. 19 Mr. Brewer was advised the same could not be permitted.
REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES.
None.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS & SPECIAL COMMITTEES,
The superintendent of the Water Department reported that recently the
Health Department had obtained samples of water from the municipal reservoir
and from various points in the distributing system of the M miaipal Water
Department and had submitted reports showing the water, at all points from
which samples were taken, to be good.
Trustee Krimel of the Public Works Committee, reported that he, and
Trustees Binder and Gerow, had made an inspection of municipal property at
the municipal waterworks site and following his recommendations in the
matter, he moved that the City Engineer prepare plans and specifications for
reshingling the roof of the dwelling house assigned to the use of the
Superintendent of the Water Department, for laying a 3/8" or 1/2" oak floor
over the present floor in said dwelling house, for waterproofing the roof of
the reservoir, for constructing louvres over existing ventilators on the

reservoir roof and for constructing _/partition wall within the reservoir,
and that the City Clerk be and he is hereby authorized and instructed to
advertise for bids for furnishing all of the labor and materials necessary
to do the said work. This motion was seconded by Trustee Gerow and was
carried by the following vote:
Ayess Trustees Cannon, Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.
The City Clerk advised having circularized suppliers and obtaining prices
on certain materials required by the Water Department as set forth in Requisition
No. 2 on file in his office, the respective totals of said bids being as follows,

It was thereupon moved by Trustee Krimmel, seconded by Trustee Love,
that the Superintendent of the Water Department be and he is hereby authorized
to purchase from Crane Company, Los Angeles, California 1000 ft. 3/4"
galvanized iron pipe, 500 ft. of 1" galvanized iron pipe, 500 ft. of 2"
galvanic ;ed iron pipe, 500 fto of caulking lead and one coil 3/4" AA Selby
lead pipe, all at a cost not to exceed $285900. Carried by the following votes

The City Clerk reported that only one bid had been received for furnishing
the City of E1 Segundo twenty -five 6" cast iron valve covers, whereupon it was
moved by Trustee Love, seconded by Trustee Krimmel, that the superintendent of
the dater Department be and he is hereby authorized to purchase from United
Casting Company, Los Angeles, California, twenty -five 6" cast iron valve
covers at a cost not to exceed $26.25. Carried by the following votes
Ayess Trustees Cannon, Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder.
Noess None.
Absents None.
The City Gardener reported progress with the cleaning of weeds from
parkings in portion of the City with the use of the tractor, and that during
the coming week ice plants will be planted in said parkings.

Mr, Oliver F. psasnall, a Civil Engineer, then presented to the Board
for its approval a map of Tract No. 9888, being a subdivision of Lot 99
Block 10, Tract 1685, the property of Daniel A. Wilson and Lailia Be Wilson.
After examination of said map, it was moved by Trustee Love, seconded by
Trustee Gerow, that the map of Tract No. 9888, being a subdivision of Lot 99
Block 10, Tract 16859 presented to this Board this date, be and the same is
hereby approved by this Board, and the City Clerk is hereby directed to
endorse the approval of this Board upon the same. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Cannon, Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder.
Noess None.
Absent: None.
Moved by Trustee Krimmel, seconded by Trustee Gerow, that the City
Engineer be and he is hereby instructed to prepare and furnish to the City

Attorney of the City of M Segundo, all descriptions and data necessary for the
preparation of an ordinance amending existing ordinances of the City of 31
Segundo designating fire districts, so as to include all portions of the City
of 21 Segundo outside of Fire District No. 1 lying northerly of 11 Segundo Avenue,
and all portions of said City lying easterly of Arizona Drive, within Fire District
No. 2. Carried by the following votes
Gress Trustees Cannon, Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder.

At this point, the hour being 8 :17 o'clock P. Y., the Chair declared a
recess of 10 minutes. At the hour of 8 :27 o'clock P. Y. the Board reconvened,
all Trustees being present and answering roll. call.
The matter of placing the High School site and of certain property
adjacent thereto in a new fire district to be known as Fire District No. 1-e,
as well as amending the existing building ordinance of the City of 21 Segundo,
in order to control certain construction not contemplated when existing
ordinances were adopted, was discussed at some length, without definite action
being taken at this time
No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was
moved by Trustee Love, seconded by Trustee Gerow, that the meeting adjourn.
