1927 JAN 28 CC MINE1 Segundo, Cal. January 28th, 1927. H103 A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo, California, was called to order at 7 :00 o'clock P. M. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by the City Clerk, the President of the Board being absent. Trustee Krimmel was unanimously chosen President pro -tem and he immediately assumed the (zuties of the President. ROLL CALL. Trustees Present: Cannon, Gerow, Krimmel and Love. Trustees Absent: Binder. READING OF MINL•TES OF PREVIOUS AlEETING. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 21st day of January, 1927, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Trustee Cannon, seconded by Trustee Love, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. None. None. WRITTEN COMnMUCATIONS. REPORTS OF STANDING C0114?ITTEES. REPORTS OF OFFICERS & SPECIAL COMITITT EES. The City Clerk reported that in response to his letter to the Southern California Gas Company inquiring as to their attitude with respect to the installation of a gas main in Sycamore Avenue between Main Street and Virginia Street before said Street is macadamized, that a representative of said company had advised him that, with the apparent prospect of consumers on said line, the cost of such installation for the entire length of Sycamore Avenue would be so great that it would show a financial return of less than 1/2 of to per annum, in view of which his company did not feel justified in making the outlayq He said, however, that his company would lay sufficient main to accomodate the three houses now in course of construction or soon to be constructed near the easterly end of said Sycamore Avenue and would so construct the line that it could be extended in future with a minimum of disturbance to the oa.vement in said street. The City Clerk advised that the piano in the City Hall Auditorium is in need of tuning and repairing, and that it will be possible to procure the services of a piano tuner the early part of next week. Moved by Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Love, that the City's piano be and the same is hereby ordered tuned and repaired, and the player attachment thereon dis- connected, all at a cost not to exceed 4P7.00. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Cannon, Gerow, Krimmel and Love. :goes: None. Absent: Trustee Binder. The City Attorney reported that, owing to the absence of Mrs. Clara Collins from her home in Huntington Park, he had been unable to get in touch with her so as to prepare the Grants of Easement across her property, Lots 12, 13 and 14, Block 65, El Segundo, which she proposes delivering to said City, but that he had made an appointment with her for the 29th inst. 'the City Attorney reported also that in further conference with Mr. ',alter Haas, rttorney representing heirs of the Dinsmore Estate, he had learned that these heirs have not as yet indicated a willingness to execute deeds, conveying to the City of :;,l Segundo certain real property for use in connection with the opening of rash P.'ariposa Avenue. He advised having had a conversation with 11r. Gard of Watson, Los Angeles County, California, also interested in said Estate, and that Is. Gard had not relaxed in his attitude of opposition to granting the property required. However, Mr. Gard indicated that he might be induced to change his mind if certain explanations and assurances were given him and by general consent the City Clerk was authorized to get in touch with T'.'_r. Gard personally during the coming week. Mr. Arthur Budgen reported that certain gardening proposed to be done at the Grand Avenue Park has progressed as far as it may until after certain changes have been made in the sprinkling system heretofore installed in said park; whereupon it was moved by Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Love, that the Superintendent of the Water Department be and he is hereby authorized and instructed to install additional pipe and sprinklers in the Northeasterly corner and also in the Northwesterly corner of said Park, all at a cost not to exceed X160.00. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Cannon, Gerow, Krimmel and Love. "'toe s: None. Absent: Trustee Binder. The Superintendent of the Water Department reported having had dater Well No. 3 at the Municipal Reservoir Site examined by Mr. Fish, who drilled the well, and by Mr. McKenzie of the Lane - Bowler Corporation, and that in the opinion of each of these gentlemen, the throwing of sand by this well could best be eliminated by the installation of a liner in the well as it stands and in view of the fact that said well is throwing such a quantity of sand as to be alarming, he recommended that the suggested repair be authorized by the Board immediately. It was thereupon moved by Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Love., that the Superintendent of the Water Department be and he is hereby authorized and in- structed to employ Mr. E. B. Fish to make the necessary repairs to Well No. 3 of the Municipal dater Department at a cost not to exceed $300.00. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Cannon, Gerow, Krimmel and Love. Noes: None. Absent: Trustee Binder. SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS. The hearing of protests against the issuance of bonds upon the security of the unpaid assessments for the improvement of Valley Avenue, a certain portion of Pine Avenue and a certain portion of Holly Avenue, within the City of El Segundo, California, as provided for by Resolution of Intention No. 144 of the Board of Trustees of said City, having been taken under advisement until the hour of 7 :30 o'clock P. W. at this -eeting and said hour having arrived, the President announced that the Board would proceed to give the matter con- sideration at this time. Thereupon it was moved by Trustee Cannon, seconded by Trustee Love, that Resolution No. 155, entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF STREET n1PROVM1EN"i BONDS FOR THE WORK OR DMOV2TM,, T OF A CERTAIN PORTION OF VALLEY AVENUE; A CERTAIN PORTION OF PINE AVENUE; AND A CERTAIN PORTION OF HOLLY AVENUE, UITHIN SAID CITY, AS PROVIDED FOR IN RESOLUTION OF IN- Tr .ION NO. 144 OF TIM SAID BOARD, PASSED AND ADOPTED ON TH3- 6TH DAY OF AUGUST, A. D. 1926, PRESCRIBING THE DENOMINATIONS OF SUCH BONDS AND OF THE INTEREST COUPONS ATTACHED THERETO; AND DIRECTING D7-_LIV'2'.iY THEREOF, which was read, be adopted. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Cannon, Gerow, Krimmel and Love, Noes: None. Absent: Trustee Binder. NEIL BUSINESS. Moved by Trustee Love, seconded by Trustee Cannon, that the Superin- tendent of the Water Department be and he is hereby authorized to replace the 2" water main in the alley east of Main Street between Pine Avenue and Mariposa Avenue, at a cost not to exceed 0100.00. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Cannon, Gerow, Krimmel and Love. Noes: None. Absent: Trustee Binder. Moved by Trustee Cannon, seconded by Trustee Love, that E1 Segundo Lodge No. 507, F. & A. M. be and it is hereby authorized to use the City Hall Auditorium on the evening of February 21st, 1927, instead of the night regularly assigned it, to -wit: February 23rd, 1927, no charge to be made for such substitution of nights. Carried. Moved by Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Cannon, that the Street Superintendent be and he is hereby instructed to remove the acacia tree from in front of the premises situate No. 634 West Collingwood Street. Carried. No further business appearing to be transacted at this session, it was moved by Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Cannon, that the meeting adjourn until Wednesday, the 2nd day of February, 1927, at the hour of 7 :00 o'clock P.
