El Segundo, Cal. January 7th, 1927.
A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of El Segundo,
California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date, in the
Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter E. Binder, President
of the Board.
ROLL CALL.
Trustees Present: Cannon, Gerow, Krimmel, Love and /Binder.
Trustees Absent: None.
Moved by Trustee Cannon, seconded by Trustee Krimmel, that the regular
order of business be dispensed with. Carried.
The following written communications were read and disposed of as
indicated:
A letter from the Christian Science Society of El Segundo, dated January
6th, 1927, conveying its thanks for'the use of the City Hall Auditorium on
December 27th, 1926. Ordered filed.
Pacific Display Company, dated January 3rd, 1927, being an application
to erect a painted display bulletin on the Northwest corner of E1 Segundo
Avenue and Inglewood- Redondo Road. Moved by Trustee Cannon, seconded by
Trustee Krimmel, that the following resolution be adopted:
RESOLVED, that Pacific Display Company be and it is
hereby granted permission to erect a sign board 10 x 46 feet
in dimension, said sign to be erected and maintained in all
respects in conformity with ordinances of the City of E1
Segundo respecting erection of advertising signs; provided,
however, that said sign is erected on private property North
of the Northwest corner of E1 Segundo Avenue and Inglewood -
Redondo Road at such a point on such private property as
will not prevent operators of motor or other vehicles from
having a clear and unobstructed view of the highway in all
directions for a sufficient distance to enable the operators
of any such vehicles to operate the same in a safe manner and
so as not to endanger life or property; and
Provided Further, that upon the commencing of the erection
of said advertising sign, Pacific Display Company shall forthwith
pay into the `Treasury of the City of E1 Segundo license fees
as fixed by ordinance of said city for the maintenance of such
signs; and
Provided Further, that the Board of Trustees of the City of
El Segundo reserves the right to revoke this permit at any
time upon refunding to the said Pacific Display Company the
pro rata portion of the license fee paid therefor whenever, in
the discretion of said Board, the public interest and necessity
or safety of said city demands that the same be revoked.

Moved by Trustee Krimmel, seconded by Trustee Cannon, that the election
of said members of the !U Segundo Volunteer Fire Department to the respective
offices of said Department be and the same is hereby ratified and approved.
Carried.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS & SPECIAL CC1 '!ITTEES.
The City Attorney reported that, as instructed, he had conferred with the
representatives of Ph Morton and the Pacific Display Company, each of which
com-oa.nies had been maintaining advertising signs within the City of E1 Segundo
without licenses as required by ordinances of the City of El Segundo, with the
result that the Ph Morton advertising sign had been removed, as the Board is
already aware, and that the Pacific Display Company had made application for a
permit to maintain its sign.
The City Attorney advised also with respect to the preparation of an amend-
ment to existing ordinances of the City of El Segundo to permit of the maintenance
of cesspools within the City of E1 Segundo for the disposal of waste from certain
plumbing fixtures, even after the completion of the sewer system, which said matter
was referred to him on December 10th, 1926, that he finds that existing ordinances
of the City cover the situation desired to be met by the Board of Trustees and
that it is unnecessary to prepare any additional ordinance or amendments to
present ordinances with respect to said matter.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS.
Moved by Trustee Krimmel, seconded by Trustee Gerow, that the following
resolution be adopted:
S`lHEREAS, on the 31st day of December, 1926, the City Clerk
of the City of E1 Segundo was instructed to procure prices
for constructing an electriclightingsystem in the municipal
warehouse; and
=,iZAS, the City Clerk reports having obtained several
quotations and that the price of General Electric Shop, to -wit:
$118.00 is the lowest quo #ation received;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the work of constructing
an electric lighting system in the municipal warehouse in
accordance with plans therefor prepared by the City Engineer
of the City of E1 Segundo be and the same is hereby awarded
General .3 ectric Shop at a cost not to exceed $118.00.
Said resolution was adopted by the following vote:

Finance and Records, were read:
