A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of El Segundo, Cali-
fornia, was called to order at 7 :00 o'clock P. Y. on the above date,_in
the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City by Peter S. Binder,
Mayor.

Councilmen Absents Cannon.
BEADING OF MINUTES OF PEMOUS MEETINGS.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 29th day of July, 1927,
were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Councilman
Brimmel, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the minutes be-approved as
read. Carried.
The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held on Angust lot, 1927
were read, without error or omission being noted, and were approved as
read upon motion of Councilman Gerow, seconded by Councilman Love, which
carried.

WRITTEN COMM)NICATIONS.
ORAL COM )NICATIONS.
Mr. H. A. Crowell requested an expression from the Council as to its
attitude with respect to accepting a strip of land fifty feet wide and
271.56 teat long,.as an extension to Mariposa Avenue on the West. The
Council felt that, although there was no immediate use for an extension
to this street, it might prove beneficial to the City in the future, and
In view of the fact that the said strip is tendered-the City without
charge, Mr. Crowell was instructed to obtain the correct legal description
of the parcel of land involved, and deliver the same to the City inginser
for checking, which said officer will in turn, deliver the same to the
City Attorney for the preparation of the necessary street deed.
ZMETS OF STABDnm COiOQTTEES.
Councilman Hrimmel of the Public Works Committee, reported that Mr•
J. S. Randall, residing an Hillcrest Avenue North of Palm Avenue, had
complained of the condition of the roadway in front of his premises, and
requested that some inexpensive repair be made to enable him to have
access to his residence and garage. By general consent the Street
Superintendent was instructed to look into the matter and advise the
Council the approximate cast of mating a satisfactory repair at the
location.
Councilman Brimmel, pursuant to previous assignment, reported, that
after investigation, he finds that 55' galvanised iron wire fencing may
be purchased for approximately 51.28 per rod. It appearing that
approximately 640 feet will be required to fence the rear portion of Lot
2, Block 13, Tract 16859 the site of the municipal sewer pusip station,
It was moved by Councilman grimmel, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that
the City Clerk be and he is hereby authorised to purchase, not to exceed
40 ftds of 55" height galvanized iron wire fencing at a cost not to exceed
175.00. Carried by the following votes
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Srimmel, Love and Binder.

MEPORTS OF OFFICERS & SPECIAL COMITTEES.
Ths- Chief of Police reported the appointment of John F, hlartin as a Police
Officer, and requested the Counil•s approval of the same. Moved by Councilman
Lore, seconded by Councilman Gerow, that the appointment of John F. Martin
as a Police Officer by the Chief of Police, be and the ease is hereby approved.
Carried.
Councilman Love reported that Xr. Wae, C• Habler had oaMlained of dry grass
and weeds adjacent to his premises, which should be burned or removed, and the
Street Superintendent was requested to can upon hir. Rubler and if possible
remedy the condition complained of•
The City Clerk reported that the owners of the premises situate Noe, 356
whiting Street and No. 517 whiting Street had requested the removal of acacia
trees from in front of their promises* The City Gardener being present,
advised that the tree in front of the first mentioned dwelling is tall and
slopes badly to the East and that the tree in front of the second mentioned
premises is in an unhealthy condition, and that in opinion these trees
should be removed. It was thereupon moved by-WoMm Loves seconded by Osmmall-
am Gerow that the Street Superintendent be and he is hereby.aathorised. and
instructed to remove an acacia tree from in front of the promises situate Zoo
356 Whiting Street and one from in front of the promises situate Zoe 517
whiting Street. Carried.

H. Green be and he is hereby granted his customary annual two weeks
vacation beginning August 22nd, 1927. Carried.
Moved by Councilman Love, seconded by Councilman Krimmel, that the
Street Superintendent be and he is hereby authorised and instructed to
construct a sewer connection from the wading pool in the Grand Avenue
Park to the lateral sewer in Lomita Streets also to construct a sand box,
with a drain line thereto, from the reservoir, and thereafter to connect
said sand box with the lateral sewer in Lomita Street, all at a cost not
to exceed $50.00. Carried by the following vote:
