A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo, Cali-
fornia, was called to order at 7s00 o'clock P. Me on the above date, in the Council
Chamber of the City Hall of said City by Peter Be Binder, President of the Board.
ROLL CALL-
Trustees Presents Cannon, Gerow, Hriamel, Love and Binder.

READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS INGS*
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 8th day of April, 1927,
were read without error or omission being noted, and were approved as read, upon
motion of Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee B.riYmmel, which carried.
The minutes of the al*cial meeting held on the 11th day of-April, 19279
were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Trustee Love,
seconded by Trustee Srimmel, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried.
WRITTEN CONUNICATIONSe
The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated:
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON COMPANY, dated April 12th, 1927, requesting
permission to set two poles in Sycamore Avenue West of Main Street. Moved by
Trustee Cannon, seconded by Trustee Gerow, that the Southern California Edison
Company be and it is hereby granted permission to set two poles on the Borth
side of Sycamore Avenue, 50 ft. and 180 ft. respectively West of Main Street,
erection of such poles to be prosecuted and completed to the satisfaction of the
Street Superintendent. Carried.,
BOULDER DLL ASSOCIATION, dated April 12th, 1927, announcing a change in
the date -of'the annual meeting of said Association, and giving the itineraries.
Ordered filed.
MARK H. SQUIER, seven applications for house moving permits, -each dated
April 14th, 1927. The Building Inspeotor, having inspected each of the premises
referred to in said applications and having recommended that the permits applied
for be granted, it was moved by Trustee Love, seconded by Trustee Gerow, that,
pursuant to provisions of ordinances of the City of EL Segundo respecting house
moving, Mari H. Squier be and he is hereby granted permission to move, within the
City of El Begundo, from and to the locations hereinafter mentioned, the following
described buildingss
A frame dwelling from 702 Eucalyptus Drive to the East side of Sierra St.,
four lots North of Grand Avenues
A frame dwelling from No. 122 East Oak Street to Nos 625 West Oak St.
A frame dwelling from Noe 714 Main Street to No. 621 West Pine Avenues
A frame dwelling from No. 119 East Palm Avenue to Noe 303 West Palm Ave*
A frame dwelling from No. 127 East Palm Avenue to Southwest corner of
Eucalyptus Drive and Pine Avenue*

A frame stucco dwelling from Noe 116 East Palm Avenue to No. 715 Bayonne Sts,
it being provided that such house moving, while the buildings are in the public
street, shall be prosecuted to the satisfaction of the Street Superintendent.

W. E. MORGAN, JAMES W. ANDERSON and GEORGE W. McgINLEY, a joint request
for the segregation of Assessment No. 6, levied under the provisions of Resolution
of Intention No. 103 for the improvement of a portion of Hillorest Avenue and
Pine Avenue. The request appearing to be regular in all respects, it was moved by
Trustee Krimmel, seconded by Trustee Cannon, that Resolution No. 160, entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF RG SEGUADO,
CALIFORNIA, ACQUIESCING IN THE R=EST OF THE OWNERS OF CERTAIN
PROPERTY WITHIN SAID CITY, TO THE SEGREGATION OR DIVISION OF
CERTAIN ASSESSMEM LEVIED UPON THE PROPERTY OF SUCH OWNERS, FOR
THE IMPROV3MT OF A PORTION OF HILLCREST AVENUE AND PINE AVENUE,
WITHIN THE SAID CITY, AS PROVIDED FOR UNDER RESOLUTION OF INTENTION
NO. 103 OF THE SAID BOARD,
which was read, be adopted. Carried by the following votes

ORAL COMIV UNICATIONS.
Mr. D. Be Hancher, representing the El Segundo Volunteer Fire Department,
informed the Board that the Fire Department is about to procure uniforms, uhioh
will require some alterations, and inasmuch as the El Segundo Volunteer Fire
Department is occasionally called upon, to perform public services other than that
of fighting fire, it felt that the Board of Trustees should assist financially in
the matter* yFollowing discussion, it was moved by Trustee Gerow, seconded by 1701171
Trustee Love, that the City Clerk be and he is hereby authorized to have the
uniforms to be procured by the El Segundo Volunteer Fire Department altered as
required, at a cost not to exceed $150.00. Carried by the following votes
Ayes: Trustees Cannon, Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder.

SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS.
The hour of 7:30 o'clock P. M. at this meeting having heretofore been set
as the hour and date for receiving and hearing of protests and objections to the
proposed work and against the extent of the district to be assessed for the
installation of lateral sewers in Lateral Sewerage District No. 2, within the City
of E1 Segundo, under Resolution of Intention No. 134 of the Board of Trustees of
the City of E1 Segundo, the President arose, announced that the hour of 7s30
o'clock P. H. had arrived and inquired whether or not any person or persons present
desired to file protests in the aforesaid matter. No person or persons present
desiring the file protests, the President inquiried whether or not any protests bad
been filed with the City Clerk. The City Clerk announced receipt of six . protests
as follows:
Protest of J. E. Bird requesting that Assessment No. 58 as levied against
Lot 59 Tract 3690 be divided so that the correct proportion of the assessment levied
will be shown as against the South 10.71 fte and the North 56.20 ft., of said lot.
Protest from C. F. Tracy requesting a similar segregation of the same
assessment.
Protest of James E. Howell and J. D. D. Gladding, requesting that
Assessments Nos. 16119 16129 16139 16149 1615 and 1616 all be placed against the
West 50 ft. of Lots 19, 209 21, 229 23 and 24, Block 43, instead of covering on
the whole portion of said lots as levied.
Protest of R. Be Harrison, requesting that Assessment No. 509 be segregated,
so that one -half thereof will appear as against the North one -half of the easterly
37.03 ft. of Lot 2, Block 94, and one -half against the South one -half of said lot.
Protest of P. D. Rich, requesting that Assessment No. 300 be segregated, so
that one -half thereof will appear against the Easterly 67.03 ft* of the Southerly
1421 ft.,/of Lot 9, Block 100, and one -half against the Westerly 67 fte of the
Southerly 14;* ft. of the same lot.
Protest of Frank W. Knight, requesting that Assessment No. 50 be segregated
so that there will be an equal division thereof levied against the Easterly 45 ft. of
the Northerly 16* ft. of Lot 5, Block 1059 the Westerly 45 ft* of the Easterly 90
ft* of the Northerly 162 ft. of the same lot and the Westerly 44903 fte of the
Northerly 16* ft. of the said lot.

It was thereupon moved by Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Cannon, that
the matter of the hearing of protests and objections to the proposed work and
against the extent of the district to be assessed for the installation of
lateral sewers in Lateral Sewerage District No. 2, under Resolution of Intention
No. 134 of the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo be and the same is
hereby continued until Friday, the 22nd day of Xpril, 1927, at the hour of 7s30
o'clock P. M. Carried.
REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES.
Trustee Gerow of the Public Works Committee reported that he was able to
procure only one bid for constructing a 4 z 4 shed roof with brackets over the
rear door of the sewer pump station attendant's dwelling,, and for replacing
the screened opening in the rear porch of said dwelling with a 3 x 3 sash,
said price being $15900 and having been given by Mr. A. J. Sullivan. The City
Clerk having heretofore been instructed to award the woik to the lowest responsible
bidder bidding thereon, he was, by general consent, instructed to give an order
to Yr. Sullivan to perform said work.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS & SPECIAL COMMITTEES.
Mr. Arthur Budgen, City Gardener, reported that the planting of trees and
ice plants in Grand Avenue had been completed.
The Street Superintendent reported that he is about through with resurfacing
required by reason of the construction of sewers in Lateral Sewerage District
No. 2, and that he would like to have the Board or a Committee thereof inspect
the same, as well as several conditions concerning which there is doubt as to
whether the responsibility for repairs is the contractor's or the city's. By
general consent the Board agreed to accompany the Street Superintendent on an
inspection trip on Monday evening, April 18th, 1927.
The City Engineer reported that the cost of the extra work performed on
the fill at the Municipal warehouse site is $241.10 and that this work has been
completed as ordered by the Board.

resolution be adopteds
WHEREAS, J. Breedlove Corporation has performed certain
services for the City of .E1 Segundo by enlarging a fill for a
proposed spur track at the municipal warehouse site;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that J. Breedlove Corporation
be and it is hereby authorized to file its demand therefor in
the sum of $241.10.
Said resolution was carried by the following votes

The Superintendent of the -Water Department reported that it is desirable
to install an air chamber on one of the water lines at the municipal water
works, the cost of which will be approximately $35.00. It was thereupon moved
by Trustee Love, seconded by Trustee Cannon, that the Superintendent of the
Water Department be and he is hereby authorized to have an air chamber for one
of the water lines at the municipal water works site constructed and installed
at a cost not to exceed $40.00. Carried by the following vote:

RESOLVED, that A. K. Tennis be and he is hereby appointed to
the office of Janitor and Fire Engine Driver for the City of
II Segundo. Said appointee shall assume the duties of his office
"April 16th, 1927, and until the further order of this Board shall
receive as full compensation for all services rendered as such
Janitor the sum of 4100.00 per month and as such Fire Engine Driver
the sum of X10.00- per month, which said sums shall be payable
monthly as other salaries of employees of the City of E1 Segundo
are paid, and in addition thereto he shall receive the free use of
the living quarters over the fire engine station in the City Hall
Building.
