Denton, of the Engineering Department of the Pacific Blec- tric icy. Co. had come to Z1 Segundo for a conference concerning the beautification o£ that portion of the said Company's right of way recently leased to the City of El SeL;undo, and that he, with Trustee Cannon, had gone into the matter with Mr. Denton. He explained fully the points discussed, and the understanding had be- tween ther.vinich, it was understood, required authorization. by the Board of Trustees and the proper officers of the Pacific Zlectric ?y. Co. respectively, followin;; which it was moved by Trustee Cannon, seconded by Trustee Eri=..el, that the followi ti resolution be adopted: ,.MEA , on the 30th day of April, 1926, the Board of Trustees of the City of M Segundo, by resolution of record at Page G -197, minutes of the Board of Trustees, authorized its proper officers to execute, on behalf of the City of M Segundo, Lease No. 6596, between the Pacific Electric Railway Company, a Corporation, and the City of E1 Segundo, said lease covering a parcel of land, being a portion of Lot "C" of Tract No. 1826, in the City of E1 Segundo, which the said city desired to beautify, by having certain structures removed and thereafter planting lawn and flowers; and i`+' IER.2.AS, since the execution of said lease, the said Pacific Electric Railway Company has constructed a cement curbing around that portion of Lot "C ", leased to the City of E1 Segundo, as well as an additional portion of said Company's right -of -Tray adjoining said Lot "C" and has removed from the land lease: by the City of E1 Segundo the structures which the City of r'll Segundo desired to have moved; and WHEREAS, it appears to this Board of Trustees that the land leased is not of sufficient area and that to beautify the spot in the manner contemplated by the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo, additional area iq necessary; NOW THMEFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Pacific Electric` Railway Company be requested to amend its Lease No. 6596, dated April 5th, 1926, so as to include in the property leased to the City of El Segundo all of that portion of its right -of -way included within the curb .lines shown in red upon its Map No. CME 9646, attached to Lease No. 6596, AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk of the City of E1 Segundo be and he is hereby directed to communicate the substance of this resolution to the said Pacific Electric Railway Company and to advise said company that if it takes favorable action, the City of E1 Segundo will, in addition to planting lawn and otherwise beautifying the leased property, reconstruct the waiting station now owned by the City of El Segundo, but located within the area proposed to be leased by the City of E1 Segundo, by removing the back therefrom and constructing a double seat instead of a single seat in the center thereof, and re- locate the same easterly of its present location but upon the property pro- posed to be leased from said Company; that it will repair the IT damaged-curbing on the northerly side of the property proposed to be leased; that with said company's permission it will erect posts or a guard fence easterly from the present termini of the cement curbing on the-Northerly and Southerly sides respectively of the property to be leased, a reasonable distance, so as to prevent vehicles from crossing the tracks or right- of -wa_y of said company, and that the Board of Trustees further requests said company, if the amendment to the said lease is consented to, to install header boards on each side of its track within the area leased to the City of E1 Segundo, so that said area may be filled and prepared for the planting of a lawn; also to repaint its poles, the waiting station when reconstructed, and the posts or guard fence proposed to be erected by the City, as hereinabove referred to.
