1926 MAR 05 CC MING15 El Segundo, Cal. March 5th, 1926. A regular meeting of the board of Trustees of the City of El Segundo, California, was called to order at 7 :00 o'clock P. LT. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City :call of said City, b* Peter L. Binder, President of the Board. ROLL CALL. Trustees Present: Anderson, Cannon, Gerow, Love and Binder. Trustees Absent: none. REnDING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS :'.�:TINGS. The minutes of the regular meeting held on February 26th, 1926, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Trustee Love, seconded by Trustee Gerow, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held on the 2nd day of March, 1926, .•iere read without error or omission appearing, and the minutes were approved as read upon motion of Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Love, which carried. The pity Engineer filed his estimate of the cost of constructing pipe guard rails in portions of the r'ra.nklin avenue Park for the purpose of protecting the plants and shrubs therein from damage by children using the same as a play - ground, the .mount of said estimate being '37.20. No action taken by the Board pendinj a further inspection of the park and consideration of the matter. the City :Irigineer explained to the Board the desirability of constructing a concrete retaining wall at the Uolling—vood Street sewer pump station site, which would involve a total of 257 cu. feet at a cost of ., ?179.90. 11r. Albert J. Sullivan having agreed orally to construct the said retaining wall at the price estimated by said Uity �]ngineer, it was moved by yrustee Love, seconded by 'rustee Cannon, that ::_r. Albert J. Sullivan be and he is hereby awarded the work of constructing 257 cu. ft. of concrete retaining wall at the Colling;uood Street sewer pump station, in accordance with plans prepared by the City Engineer of the City of El Segundo and to the satisfaction of said City Engineer and this Board of Trustees for the sum of X179.90. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Anderson, Cannon, Gerow, Love and Birder. Yoe -- : None. .Lbaent: None. The City Clerk requested the Board to express its views respecting the widening of Yariposa Avenue between 1a.in Street and the V%esterly line of the Fisher Subdivision, for the reason that various persons are dubious as to the use of their property fronting on I'ariposa Avenue, fearing that in the near future the City would widen the street by acquiring portions of the frontages on both sides of said street between said points. After discussing the matter, it was the unanimous opinion of the Board that said street between s---id points would not need to be widened for a number of years and that when the widening becomes necesssry, such width may be acquired by converting the present parkings between existing curbs and existing outside sidewalk lines to roadway purposes. 154 None. PAYING BILLS. '=TEA BUSINESS. Recommendations having beer. made to the Board of `trustees by property owners interested, to change the Method of illuminating the ornamental street lights recently installed on Grand Avenue and Richmond Street so that all center lights will burn all night, all pendant lights to be extinguished at midnight, the written proposal of the Los Angeles Electric Works, dated March 5th, 1926, to furnish all labor and material necessary to effect the proposed change for the sum of V'160.00 was read to and filed with the Board, and thereupon after due consideration, it was moved by Trustee Cannon, seconded by Trustee Love, that the electric wiring in the ornamental light posts recently installed in *rand Avenue and Richmond Street be changed, so that the center, or uppermost light will burn all night, all pendant lights to go out at midnight, avid that the work of furnishing all of the labor and material necessary to make said change be awarded Los Angeles Electric 'orks at a price not to exceed ;;160.00. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Anderson, Cannon, Gerow, Love and Binder. Noes: None. Absent: None. The Street Superintendent reported to the Board that there is in view con- siderable concrete work to be done in the very near future and that it could be done more economically and satisfactorily by his department if the Street Department were equipped with a concrete mixer. After discussion and consideration of the relative merits of several makes of concrete mixers, data concerning which was before the Board, it was moved by Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Cannon, that the City Clerk be and he is hereby authorized and instructed to purchase one 3-12 feet capacity Rex Tilting Type Concrete Mixer, at a cost not to exceed : ,'298000. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Anderson, Cannon, Gerow, Love and Binder. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Trustee Love, seconded by Trustee Cannon, that Resolution No. 128, entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE HOLDING OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL EL3CTI02? TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY 0:: MONDAY, THE 12TH DAY OF APRIL, 1926, FOR THE ELECTION OF CERTAIN INN IC IPAL OFFICERS OF SAID CITY, which was read, be adopted. Said resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Anderson, Cannon, Gerow, Love and Binder. 17'oes: None. Absent: None. During discussion of the proposed amendment to the wilding Ordinance of the City of E'l Begundo, intended to create a new fire district comprising that territory included within lines paralleling Main Street on the East and nest sides, and distant 67 feet therefrom,between Palm Avenue and 1.2aple Avenue, within which district the erection of other than fireproof buildings will not be permitted, it was suggested also that portions of Fire District No. 3, between the Fisher Subdivision and certain portions of Tract No. 1685, be removed from said District and placed in a new District, wherein it will be necessary to comply with construction methods now required in Fire District No. 2. Thereupon by general consent the City Engineer was authorized and instructed to prepare a map showing the boundaries of the new district, having construction requirements corresponding to those existing in Fire District No. 2, as the same will appear when changed in accordance with the views of this Board of �'rustees as herein expressed. No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was moved by Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Love, that the meeting adjourn. Carried.
