A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of 21 Segundo,
California, was called to order at 7 :00 o'clock P. M. on the above date, in the
Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter E. Binder, President of
the Board.
ROLL CALL.
Trustees Present: Krimmel, Love and Binder.
Trustees Absent: Cannon and Gerow.
READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 11th day of Jun #, 1926
were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Trustee Love,
seconded by Trustee Krimmel, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried.
Trustee Gerow appeared during the reading of the minutes of June 11th,
at the hour of 7 :10 o'clock P. 1'1i. and immediately took his seat.
The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held on the 16th day of
June, 1926, were read without error or omission appearing, and it was Moved by
Trustee Love, seconded by Trustee Krimmel, that the minutes be approved as
read. Carried.
7RITTEN COM'- =ICATIONS.
The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated:
GORGE E. RENFRO, dated June 18th, 1926, a request that the billiard
parlor license heretofore issued to 0. E. Palmer be transferred to him. It
was moved by Trustee Love, seconded by Trustee Krimmel, that in view of the
fact that George Z. Renfro has purchased the amusement parlor business on the
North side of rZ Segundo Avenue between Richmand Street and Concord Street,
heretofore ow ed and conducted by 0. E. Palmer, that the said George E. Renfro
be substituted as the licensee under City of El Segundo License No. 2553, to
conduct a billiard parlor at the said location for the unexpired term of said
license, to wit: to the 30th day of September, 1926. Carried by the following
vote:
Ayes: Trustees 2z Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder.
Noes: None.
Absent: Trustee Cannon.
GOLD CREST REBEKAH LODGE ATO. 357, dated June 12th, 1926, advising of
the desire of said lodge to meet Monday nights instead of Friday nights and
requesting that pending the amending of its by -laws, the use of the City Hall
Auditorium on Monday nights be reserved for said lodge. Ordered filed.
A. E. GODDARD, Mayor, City of Sacramento, dated June 12th, 1926, calling
attention to the passage of a resolution by the City Council of the City of
Sacramento, inviting the League of California Municipalities to hold its Twenty -
17inth Annual Convention during the year 1927 in the City of 6acramento and
requesting that this Board of Trustees go on record as favoring the same.

EL a.GUNDO POST NO. 38, AIMICAN LEGION, dated June 16th, 1926, inviting
the members of the Board of i'rustees to be its guests at El Segundo Theatre,
Tuesday, June 22nd, 1926, at 7 :30 o'clock P. M. to witness motion pictures of
the Ziaan Luis Obispo fire. Ordered Afiled.
HEALTH OFFICER, being a report of his activities for the month of May,
1926. Ordered filed.

SPECIAL ORDERS OF BUSINESS.
The City Clerk announced that the hearing of protests against the laying out
and opening of a certain new public street within the City of 41 Segundo, to be
designated and known as Mariposa Avenue, to a uniform width of 80 ft. between
Arizona Drive and Inglewood- Redondo Road, and the receiving of bids for furnishing
all labor and materials necessary to construct and complete a vitrified clay pipe
sanitary sewer system in, over and along certain portions of the public streets,
avenues and alleys within the City of 41 Segundo, as more particularly set forth
in Resolution of Intention No. 134, had been made special orders of business for
the hour of 7 :30 o'clock P. Mi. at this meeting.
The President thereupon announced the hour of 7 :29 o'clock P. M. and asked
if there were any person or persons present who desired to file protests against
the laying out and opening of a certain new public street within the City of
E1 Segundo, to be designated and known as Mariposa Avenue under Resolution of
Intention No. 94, or to file bids for furnishing labor and materials necessary
to construct and complete a vitrified clay pipe sanitary sewer system in, over
and along certain portions of the public streets, avenues and alleys within the
City of EZ Segundo, as more particularly set forth in Resolution of Intention
No. 134.
The hour of 7 :30 o'clock P. Mi, having arrived, the President declared the
time for receiving protests against the laying out and opening of a certain
new public street within the City of E1 Segundo, to be designated and known as
M'ariposa Avenue between Arizona Drive and Inglewood- Redondo Road, under Resolution
of Intention No. 94, and the receiving of bids for furnishing all labor and
materials necessary to construct and complete a vitrified Llay.pipe sanitary
server system in, over and along certain portions of the public streets, avenues
and alleys within the City of El Segundo, as more particularly set forth in
Resolution of Intention No. 134, closed.
It was moved by Trustee Love, seconded by Trustee Gerow, that the matters
heretofore made special orders of business for the hour of 7 :30 o'clock P. M.
as heretofore at this meeting announced by the City Clerk, be considered by the
Board in the order named by the City Clerk. Carried.
The Clerk announced that no new written protests had been filed against
the laying out and opening of a certain new public street within the City of
El Segundo, to be designated and known as Mariposa Avenue, between Arizona
Drive and Inglewood - Redondo Read, and the Board thereupon proceeded to give
consideration to the protests heretofore received against said work or improvement.
After said consideration, it was moved by Trustee Krimmel, seconded by Trustee
Love, that the following resolution be adopted:
R- SOL ?D, that all protests against the laying out and
opening of a certain new public street within the City of
E1 Segundo, to be designated and known as Mariposa Avenue,
between Arizona Drive and Inglewood- Redondo Road, be and the
same are hereby denied and overruled, and that the Board
of Trustees proceed with the work of said laying out and
opening of said new public street as contemplated by Resolution
of Intention No. 94.
Said resolution was adopted by the following vote:

The Clerk thereupon announced that no bids had been received for the
furnishing of all labor and materials necessary to construct and complete a
vitrified clay pipe sanitary sewer system as contemplated under Resolution of
Intention No. 134, as advertised for in accordance with the law.
By general consent the matter of readvertising was held in abeyance.

ORAL COMIMCNICATIONS.
iEPORTS OF STANDIMTG COM'ITTE 3.
Trustee Krimmel of the Public Works Committee reported that he had been
advised that the globe of an electrolier at Main Street and Oak Avenue is
broken. By general consent the matter was refereed to the Street Superintendent
for attention.
The Street Superintendent reported that the Chevrolet Dum-c Truck needs
mechanical overhauling and it was moved by Trustee Love, seconded by Trustee
Krimmel that the said vehicle be overhauled and put in good mechanical working
condition at a cost not to exceed N85.00. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder.
Noes: None. e
Absent: Trustee Love.
The Fire Chief advised that the storage battery in use on the fire
engine has been in service for three years and is beginning to show weakness
and as a matter of safety he suggested the acquisition of a new battery.
It was thereupon moved by Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Krimmel, that the
City Clerk be authorized to purchase a new battery for the fire engine at a
cost not to exceed $45.00. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder.
Noes: None.
Absent: Trustee Love.
The City Clerk advised having had conversation with Mr. J. M. Bidlake,
manager of the Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Company and with Mr. Rhodes of
the Railroad Commission of the State of California, each of whom had advised
of a settlement of the E1 Segundo Telephone Exchange area matter in the manner
suggested by the City Attorney and in accordance with the desires of the Board
of Trustees of said City.

Various complaints having been received concerning dead trees in
parkings and the dangers of love branches of live trees which extend into
streets and over sidewalks, it was moved by Trustee Krimmel, seconded by
Trustee Love, that the Street Superintendent be and he is hereby instructed
to removed dead trees and to trim or remove other trees, which by reason
of low branches extending into streets or across sidewalks or other unusual
growth, create dangerous conditions throughout the City to person or
property. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder.
Noes: None.
Absent: Trustee Cannon.
No further business appearing to be transacted at this session, it
was moved by Trustee Love, seconded by Trustee Gerow, that the meeting adjourn
until Monday, the 21st day of May, 1926, at the hour of 4;40 o'clock P. E.
