A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of El Segundo,
California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date, in the
Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City, by Peter E. Binder, President of
the Board.
ROLL CALL.
Trustees Present: Cannon, Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder.
Trustees Absent: None.
_R ADING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS ' STINGS.
The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 28th day of May, 1926,
were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Trustee Cannon,
seconded by Trustee Love, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried.
The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held on the 3rd day of June,
1926, were read. No errors or omissions being noted, they were approved as
read upon motion of Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Love, which carried.
SPECIAL ORDM OF BUSINESS.
The hearing of protests against the laying out and opening of a certain
new public street within the City of El Segundo, between Arizona Drive and
Inglewood- Redondo Road, to be designated and known as Mariposa Avenue, having
heretofore been adjourned to the hour of 7 :15-o'clock P. M. at this meeting,
and said hour having arrived, the President arose and asked if there were any
person or persons present who desired to file protests against said work or
improvement. No protests were filed, but the Board, deeming it advisable to
adjourn said hearing, it was moved by Trustee Cannon, seconded by Trustee Gerow,
that the hearing of protests against the laying out and opening of a certain
new public street within the City of E1 Segundo, California, to be designated
and known as 1ariposa Avenue, as contemplated under Resolution of Intention No.
94 of the Board of Trustees, be adjourned until Friday, the 11th day of June,
1926, at the-hour of 7 :30 o'clock P. M. Carried.
MITTEN COM=, ICATIONS.
The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated:
PACIFIC TELEPHONE & TELEGRAPH CO., applying for a permit to install
an anchor in the alley South of and parallel to Grand Avenue between the alley
East of Standard Street and Eucalyptus $rive. This matter having been in-
vestigated and approved by the Street Superintendent, it was moved by Trustee
Cannon, seconded by Trustee Gerow, that the permit as prayed for be granted,
provided the work is prosecuted and completed to the satisfaction of the Street
Superintendent of the City of E1 Segundo. Carried.
PACIFIC TELEPHONE & TELEGRAPH CO., being application for permit to
remove three poles from a portion of Tract No. 2540, bounded by Sheldon and
Penn Streets and Mariposa and Fine Avenues. This application having been
approved by the Street Superintendent, it was moved by Trustee Gerow, seconded by
Trustee Love, that the permit requested be granted, subject to the work being
prosecuted and completed to the satisfaction of the Street Superintendent of the
City of E1.Segundo. Carried.
A. L. B9= and eight others, requesting that trees be planted in the
parkings on Arena Street between Pine and Mariposa Avenues. Because this is not
a good season of the year to successfully plant trees, the Board by general
consent, decided to plant no more this year and instructed the City Clerk to so
advise the petitioners.
PETITION OF .7e H. JEPPSEN and eight others, requesting the Board to
take such- proceedings as may be necessary to cause Holly Avenue between Loma
Vista Street and Valley Street, and Valley Street between Holly Avenue and
Pine Avenue, to be improved by the construction therein of macadam veneer pavement;

also to have cement sidewalks and curbs of standard quality.and dimension
constructed on the North side of Holly Avenue between Loma Vista Street and
Valley Street, on the East a1d West sides of Valley Street between Holly Avenue
and fine Avenue, and on the South side of Pine Avenue between Valley Street
and Loma Vista Street. On motion of Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Krimmel,
the matter was referred to the City Engineer with instructions to perform all
of the engineering services necessary and prepare all of the engineering data
necessary and submit the same to the City Attorney for the preparation and
presentation to this Board of Trustees of appropriate legal proceedings to
comply with the requests of the petitioners. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Cannon, Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder.

Absent: None.
PE`1'ITION OF 'MRS. J. E. GIBBS and eighty -two others, requesting that a
competent and reliable playground supervisor be provided by the City of El
Segundo for the summer months. Mesdames J. N. Gorham, James T. Fisher and
Elmer Peterson, as a committee from the Parent- Teachers Association, conferred
with the Board concerning the said petition. After lengthy discussion, it was
explained to the Committee that the Board of Trustees feels the problem one to
be solved by the Board of School Trustees rather than by the City Trustees and
that because of the legal liability for injuries which might be incurred, the
Board would defer action and by general consent the matter was referred to the
Public Works Committee for conference with the Board of School Trustees.
C. I. TIZ=, complimenting the Board of Trustees on the faithful
attendance of its members at the meetings of said Board and for the wisdom
and public spirit of its members, which has placed the City of E1 Segundo in
the enviable position of being second to no municipality in California having
an equal number of inhabitants. The communication also requested enlightenment
on a personal matter instead of a public matter, which the Board did not feel
qualified to answer and the letter was ordered filed.

REPORTS OF OFFICERS & SPECIAL COMMITTEES.
The City Clerk advised that El Segundo Review of the Women's Benefit
Association of the Maccabees had made application to rent the City Hall
Auditorium on the first four Tuesday nights of each month, beginning June 8th,
1926. Tuesday being an open night at this time, it was moved by Trustee Love,
seconded by Trustee Krimmel, that until the further order of this Board, the
City Pall Auditorium be rented to the El Segundo Review of the Woman's Benefit
Association of the Maccabees, on the first four Tuesday nights of each month,
beginning June 8th, 19269 at the customary rental charge of 47.50 per month,
subject, however, to the right of the public to demand the use of said Auditorium.
Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Cannon, Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder.
noes: None.
Absent: None.
The Clerk advised that Mr. Harry Randall, Jr. desired to borrow twenty -
five of the City's collapsible chairs for use at his residence on June 11th,
1926. On motion of Trustee Cannon, seconded by Trustee Gerow, this permission
was granted, no charge to be made for such use, subject, however, to the chairs
being transported at the expense of the borrower and to the City's reimbursement
for any damages which might be sustained by said chairs. Carried.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS.
Trustee Love introduced Ordinance No. 126, entitled:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGURDO, CALIFORNIA,
ORDERING THE ESTABLISEMENT OF CERTAIN SET BACK LINES
ON CERTAIN PORTIONS OF v ITING STREET WITHIN THE SAID
CITY,
which was read.
At this time consideration was given to the matter of the adoption of
Ordinance No. 128, which was introduced and, read at a regular meeting of the
Board of Trustees held on the 21st day of May, 1926, and by general consent the
adoption of said ordinance was laid over for one week.
NEW BUSINESS.
Moved by Trustee Cannon, seconded by Trustee Gerow, that the Street
Superintendent be and he is hereby authorized and instructed to burn weeds
throughout the city where the same create a fire hazard or endanger property.
Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees *zdscim, Cannon, Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.
Moved by Trustee Love, seconded by Trustee Gerow, that J. E. Gibbs be
granted his customary annual two weeks vacation, beginning June 7th, 1926.
Carried.

Engineer be and he is hereby authorized to purchase two recording pressure
gauges at a cost not to exceed $100.00, one of said gauges to be used in
the Franklin Avenue sewer pump station pit and one gauge in the Standard
Street sewer pump station pit. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Cannon, Gerow, Krimnel, Love and Binder.
Noest None.
Absent: None.
No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it
was moved by Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Love, that the meeting adjourn.
