1926 FEB 05 CC MING135 °4 El Segundo, Calif. February 5th, 1926. A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of El Segundo, California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City by Peter E. Binder, President of the Board. ROLL CALL. Trustees Present: Anderson, Cannon, Gerow and Binder. Trustees Absent. Love. . READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS IMETINGS. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 29th day of January, 1926, were read. No errors or omissions being noted, they were approved as read upon motion of Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Cannon, which carried. The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held on February 214 1926, were read. No errors or omissions being noted, it was moved by Trustee Cannon, seconded by Trustee Gerow, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. 37RITTMT COIE1iDNICATIONS. The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated: EL SEGUNDO VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT, requesting that the interior of their amusement,quarters be renovated. On motion of Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Anderson, which carried, the City Clerk was instructed to write the owner of the building within which is located the amusement quarters of the E1 Segundo Volunteer Fire Department, requesting that he have the interior of said quarters decorated. BOARD OF TRUSTEES, EL SEGUNDO HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT, requesting the closing and abandoning for public street purposes of the following streets and alleys: Standard Street from Mariposa Avenue to Palm Avenue, Eucalyptus Drive from Mariposa Avenue to Oak Avenue, Palm Avenue from Main Street to Arena Street, the alley between Mariposa Avenue and Palm Avenue from ruin Street to the alley between Standard Street and Eucalyptus Drive. Moved by Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Anderson, that the City Clerk be and he is hereby instructed to request the Board of Trustees of the E1 Segundo High School District to request the county Counsel of Los Angeles County to have the appropriate department of the County Government search the records with respect to the dedication of the streets and alleys said Board is' requesting vacated, to ascertain whether or not, in the event of their vacation, the same would revert to the original-grantors or their heirs or assigns, and that the City Engineer be and he is hereby authorized and instructed to prepare all of the engineering data necessary for the vacation of said streets and alleys and to deliver the same to the City Attorney of the City of E1 Segundo, who is also authorized to prepare all of the legal proceedings necessary for the vacation or abandonment of said streets and alleys. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Anderson, Cannon, Gerow and Binder. Noes: None. Absent: Trustee Love. PUBLICITY DIRECTOR, being report of activities for the month of January, 1926. Ordered filed. EL SEGUNDO CHAMBER OF COM!M- CE, advising of the appointment of certain members of said Body as a Planning Committee and tendering the services of said Committee to the Board of Trustees. Ordered filed. PACIFIC TEELEPHONE & TZLEGR&PH COITANY, acknowledging receipt of a letter from the Board of Trustees of this City, dated January 28th, 1926, respecting the boundary of the E1 Segundo Telephone Exchange, and advising that the matter will be gone into very fully, with the idea of conforming to the request of this Board of Trustees, as expressed in said before mentioned letter, if found feasible. '136 J None. ORAL C O-2fUNI CATIONS. REPORTS OF STANDING C01111.ITTEES. Trustee Gerow of the Public Works Committee stated that a cement floor and certain storm water drains should be constructed at the municipal ware- house now in course of completion, and he moved that the City Clerk be authorized to purchase cement, rock and pipe for use in this connection, at a cost not to exceed 4295.00. The motion was seconded by Trustee Anderson and carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Anderson, Cannon, Gerow and Binder. Noes: None. Absents Trustee Love. REPORTS OF OFFICERS & SPRCI L CM.2".ITTEES. The City Attorney reported that he had gone further into the matter of set back linesas advocated by the Board of Trustees of this City, and learned that in the City of Los Angeles hearings concerning proposed plans are had before ordinances are passed respecting the same. It was thereupon moved by Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Cannon, that the City Clerk be and he is hereby authorized and instructed to publish a notice informing property owners on !%in Street, between Mariposa Avenue and Collingwood Street, that it is the intention of said Board of Trustees to establish set back lines on said street between said points and that the Board of Trustees of the City of El Segundo will provide all of said property ovmers an opportunity to be heard in the matter at a meeting of said Board to be held on Wednesday, the 17th day of February, 1926. Carried.by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Anderson, Cannon, Gerow and Binder. Noes: None. Absent: Trustee Love. The City Engineer presented to the Board a map he had prepared, showing the areas of the respective lots adjoining the Pacific Electric right -of -way between Eucalyptus Drive and Maryland Street, which the City of El Segundo will be required to acquire, either through easements or dedication, for the con- struction of its main line sewer system. Before approving the said map, the Board preferred to view the ground and by general consent agreed to meet Sunday, February 7th, 19269 at 9 :00 o'clock A. Mo for this purpose. None. None. UNFINISIMD BUSINESS. PAYING BILLS. 107 BUSINESS. Trustee Gerow reminded the Board that it had heretofore considered the matter of planting trees on streets where there are no trees and where side- walks and curbs have been installed. Following discussion, during which it appeared that the Board is desirous of beautifying the City by planting trees, and it appearing further that the Board desires to comply with the wishes of property owners in this connection, it was moved by Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Cannon, that this Board of Trustees avail itself of the offAr of the newly appointed Planning Committee of the Chamber of Commerce, and the City Clerk be and he is hereby authorized and instructed to write each of the members of said Planning Committee, advising them that the Board of Trustees requests a meeting with them at its meeting to be held Wednesday, February 17th, 1926 'f(?)r Carried. q 137 Moved by Trustee Cannon, seconded by Trustee Cerow, that the purchase of badges for the full time police officers of the City of El Segundo, to conform in style with the official badges in use in other municipalities, and the purchase of forty Deputy Marshal shields, be and the same is hereby authorized at a cost not to exceed 0100.00. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Anderson, Cannon, Gerow and Binder. Noes: None. Absent: Trustee Love. No further business appearing to be transacted at this session, it was moved by Trustee Cannon, seconded by Trustee Anderson, that the meeting adjourn until Thursday, the 11th day of February, 1926.
