1926 AUG 14 CC MIN7279 El Segundo, Cal, Aug. 14th, 1926. A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of Al Segundo, California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on,the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City by the City Clerk, the President of the Board being absent. Trustee Krimmel was unanimously chosen President pro -tem and he immediately assumed the duties of the President. ROLL CALL. Trustees Present: Cannon, Gerow, Krimmel and Love. Trustees Absent: Binder. READING OF MINUTES OF PREPIOUS LETING. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 6th day of August, 1926, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Cannon, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. Trustee Binder, President of the Board, appeared during the reading of the minutes, the hour being 7s29 o'clock P. M., and he immediately took his seat and assumed the duties of the President, Trustee Krimmel thereafter ceasing to serve as President pro -tame WRITTE17 C ONMEMICAT IONS. The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated: HARTFORD STEAMI BOILER INSPECTION AND INSURANCE COMPANY, Dated August 5th, 1926, respecting inspection of the various motors and making certain recommendations relative to conditions surrounding said equipment. Ordered filed. F_EALTH OFFICER, being a report of the Health Office for the City of El Segundo, for the month of July, 1926. Ordered filed. REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES. Trustee Gerow reported receipt of numerous complaints concerning mosquitos and by general consent the City Clerk was instructed to refer the matter to the Health Officer for attention. The Public Service Committee reported having investigated the matters referred to it last week and had instructed the Street Superintendent to make temporary repairs in Sheldon Street South of Mariposa Avenue and in Mariposa Avenue East of Arena Street, where holes or depressions create dangerous conditions. Trustee Krimmel reported that E. A. Crumley, whose residence is located on the West side of Sheldon Street South of Mariposa Avenue, requested permission to remove dead acacia trees from in front of his premises. On motion of Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Cannon, which carried, this permission was granted. Trustee Krimmel reported that it had been recommended to him that the El Segundo sign at El Segundo Avenue and Redondo Boulevard be lettered "To The Beaches ". Some discussion arising as to the practicability of this suggestion in connection with the present sign, by general consent the matter was referred to Trustee Krimmel for investigation and further report. REPORTS OF OFFICERS & SPECIAL CMM.TITTEES. The Street Superintendent reported that the guard fence on the Coast Boulevard in that portion of the City of E1 Segundo recently annexed, needs painting. Moved by Trustee Cannon, seconded by Trustee Krimmel, that the Street Superintendent be and he is hereby authorized to paint approximately 1700 feet of guard fence on the Coast Boulevard within the City of E1 Segundo and adjacent to the Southerly city limits, at a cost not to exceed $75.00. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Cannon, Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder. Noes: None. Absent: None. _ G Trustee Krimmel advised.that complaint had been made to him concerning trucks parking all night on Main Street between El Segundo Avenue and Grand Avenue without lights, also the parking of motor vehicles on the public streets throughout the City of E1 Segundo all night without lights, likewise unlimited parking of motor vehicles in alleys throughout the city. By general consent remedial measures were taken under consideration. UNFINISHED BUSINESS. 279 The Public Service Committee, having reported that it is satisfied with the locations at which the Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Company proposes to erect poles, as shown in the sketch submitted with its Application No. JO 17906, requesting permission to erect certain poles within the City of XL Segundo, it was moved by Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Love, that Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Company be and it is hereby granted permission to erect certain poles and anchors on certain portions of Grand Avenue, Center Street and Mariposa Avenue, within the City of E1 Segundo, as shown upon its sketch submitted with its application for said permit, being Application No. JO 17906, provided said work is prosecuted and completed to the satisfaction of the Street Superintendent of the City of E1 Segundo. Carried. The City Engineer filed with the Board of Trustees his estimate of the cost of improving Sycamore Avenue between ?Bain Street and Virginia Street, with macadam veneer paving. PAYING BMW. The City Marshal reported that the Post Master had requested certain parking restrictions in front of the Post Office to enable the mil carrier to deliver mail to the Post Office without hindrance, and by general consent the Marshal was authorized to paint the curbing in front of the Post Office on Grand Avenue in a manner to prohibit parking at all times, in a space sufficiently large to accomodate the mail truck. The City Clerk filed with the Board a map showing the E1 Segundo exchange limits of the Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Company, which said map had been presented to the Board by said Telephone Company. Moved by Trustee Love, seconded by Trustee'Krimmel, that Trustees Binder, Cannon and Gerow and the City Clerk be and they are hereby authorized to attend the Convention of the League of California Municipalities to be held in Yosemite Valley, California, August 16th to 20th, 1926, and to file demands for their actual and - necessary expenses in connection therewith. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Cannon, Gerow, Krimmel,.Love and Binder. Noes: None. Absents None. Moved by Trustee Cannon, seconded by Trustee Love, that the City Clerk be and he is hereby authorized to purchase 8 Municipal Hand Books for Fifth and Sixth Class Cities, Third Edition, 1926, at a cost not to exceed $30.009 Carried by the following votes Ayes: Trustees Cannon, Gerow, Krimmel, Love and Binder. Noes: None. Absent: None. No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was moved by Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Cannon, that the meeting adjourn. Carried.
