The Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo, California, not In regular
season at the hour of 7 :00 o•clook P. M. on the above date in the Covmcil Chamber
of the City Hall of said City. The President of the Board being absent, it was
moved by Trustee Love, seconded by Trustee Cannon, that Trustee Gerow be appointed
President proFtem. Carried. The City Clerk being absent, it was moved by
Trustee Love, seconded by Trustee Anderson, that Trustee Cannon be appointed Clerk
pro-tem. Carried.

READING OF MINUTES OF PMMIOUS MEETING.
The minutes of the regular meeting held'on the 84th day of July, 19259 were
read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Trustee Cannon, seconded
by Trustee Anderson, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried.

H. R. KENT, Representative of the Universal Traffic Stop 318=19 soliciting
future business of the City of Al Segundo when it is again to the market for

The City Engineer, "porting on the Burns Automatic Sower plusher License
Agreement, rich was referred to him at the last regular meeting of this'Board,
advised that said agr9ment was satisfactory in every way with the exception that
the word "Surveyor" had been used instead of the word "Engineer" in one instance,
and that he had changed the same to read Engineer. This being a minor detail
and the agreement being satisfactory otherwise, it was moved by Trustee Cannon,
seconded by Trustee Love, that the Burns Automatic Sewer Flusher License Agreement
of the Automatic Sewer Flusher Company, dated at Los Angeles, California, July
10th, 1925, be and the same is hereby accepted by this Board of Trustees. Carried
by the following votes

NEW BUSINNSS.
The City Engineer filed his preliminary estimate on the cost of the
improvement of Hillorest Avenue, said estimate being 43687996.
The City Esngineer showed to the Board preliminary tracing of the proposed
east and most streets throw the acreage, and requested the Board's opinion as

to whether or not the proposed streets through Blocks 929 101 and 102 should
run to the Westerly line of the Fisher Subdivision or the westerly line of Penn
Street where it now exists or would exist if cut through. It appearing that
Penn Street is now out through the block between Maple Avenue and Walnut Avenue
and that houses now exist on said street which it would be necessary to more
If an Bast and West street should be out through, the City Angineer was
Instructed to proceed with the engineering work necessary to open east and
west streets through the blooks between Collingwood Street and Walnut Avenue
and between Maple Avenue and Palm Avenue from the Westerly City Limits to the
Westerly line of the Fisher Subdivtsi aid througt the blocks-between Maple
Avenue and Walnut Avenue from ` o the West Line of
Penn Street as same now exists.
The City Engineer presented to the Board a map of Tract No. 89249
being a subdivision of Lot 2, Block 97, Sheet No. 3 of $1 Segundo, and requested
the Board's approval of the Sams. After examination of said map by the Board

and the City Clerk is hereby directed to endorse the approval of this Board

Moved by Trustee Love, seconded by Trustee Cannon, that J. Strellnauer
be and he is hereby appointed to the office of Night Watchman of the City of
31 Segundo. He shall assmss the duties of his office as of the let day of
August, 1925 and until the further order of this Board shall be compensated for
all services rendered as such Night Watohman-at the rate of $160.00 per month,
payable monthly as other city salaries are paid. Carried by the following votes

Moved by Trustee Cannon, seconded by Trustee Love, that Recorder Don
Co tugitt be granted his customary annual two weeks vacation to begin August
3rd, 1925, it being understod and agreed that Recorder Co W. Bridges of Hermosa
Beach will act in the capacity of Recorder for the City of 31 Segundo during the
&beano* of Recorder Fugitt. Carried.
Moved by Trustee Cannon, seconded by Trustee Anderson, that the following
resolution be adopteds
RBSOLVBD, that the e0907nsnt of M. W. Stogdill as
Night Watshman for the City of B1 Segundo be and the same
Is hereby terminated as of midnight, July 31st, 1925,
AND BE IT FURTMM RESOLVED, that from and after the
first day of August, 1925, and until the further order
of this Board the said M. W. Stogdill be employed as
Traffic Officer under the supervision and control of the
City Marshal of the City of El Segundo. Until the further
order of this Board he shall receive as compensation in
full for all services rendered as such Traffic Officer the
sum of $175.00 per month, which said Sam shall be payable
monthly as other city salaries are paid.

Moved by Trustee Love, seconded by Trustee Cannon, that from and after
the first day of August, 19259 the compensation of J. W. Arnold as mater man for
the City of 31 Segundo Water Department be and the same is hereby fixed at $150.00
per month, said am to be compensation in fall for all services rendered as such
meter man and to be payable monthly as other city salaries are paid. Carried by

Discussion was had relative to the improvement of Grand Awenue from Main
street to the West line of Bucalyptus Avenue between the curb lines thereof, as
requested in petitions received heretofore by this Board. Some of the Board being
of the opinion that property owners signing these petitions were not asarehe
fact that it would be necessary to assess them for their pro rata of thsi Utement
as requested, the Bight -of -Way agent was instructed to see that said property
owners received this information before the Board proceeded further with the matter.
Noved by Trustee Lovev seconded by Trustee Anderson, that the Street
Superintendent be and he is hereby instructed to trim all eucalyptus %fees
throughout the City at a cost not to exceed WO.00. Carried by the following votes

The City Clerk presented deed executed by Helen Dangubick conveying to the
City of E1 Segundo the Westerly 50 ft. of the Southerly 40 ft. of Lot 19 Block 929
31 Segundo, and deed executed by J. W. Slutts conveying to the City of M Segundo
the Westerly 50 ft* of the Northerly 40 ft* of the Southerly 80 ft. of Lot 1,
Block 929 S1 Segundo, said property to be used for public street purposes, and
requested the Board's approval of the same. It was moved by Trustee Cannon, seconded
by Trustee Love, that the following resolution be adopted:
RESOLVED, that that certain granted deed presentetto the
Board of Trustees of the City of El Segundo, this 31st daffy
of July, 1925, bearing date the 24th day of July, 1925,
executed by J. W. Slutts and conveying to the City of At
Segundo the following described property in said City, toawits
The Westerly 50 ft,, of the Northerly 40 ft* of the
Southerly 80 ft. of Lot 19 Block 929 E1 Segundo
Sheet No. 39 in the City of E1 Segundo, California,
as per map recorded in Book 20, Pages 22-23 of Maps,
In the office of the County Reoordsr of Los Angeles
County,
be and the same is hereby accepted on behalf of the said City
of 4 Segundo for public street purposes,
AND BE IT FURTHLR RESOLVED, that that certain grant deed presented
to the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo this 31st day
of July, 1925, bearing date the 29th day of July, 19259 executed
by Helen Dangubick and conveying to the City of E1 Segundo,
California, the following described property in said City, to -wits
The Westerly 50 ft* of the Southerly 40 ft. of
Lot 1, in Block 92, E1 Segundo Sheet No. 3, in
the City of E1 Segundo, California, as per map
recorded inl�ok 209 pages 22 and 23 of Mans, in
the office of the County Recorder of Los Angeles
County,
be and the same is hereby accepted on behalf of the said City of
E1 Segundo for public street purposes,
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk of said City be and
he is hereby authorized and directed to cause to be affixed to each
of the said deeds a copy of this Resolution and to cause each of
said deeds and said attached copy of this resolution to be filed
for record in the office of the County Recorder of Los Angeles
Comity, California.

The Fire Chief advised that the Fire Department has on hand approximately
500 feet of used fire hose, which hose is too old and in too dilapidated condition
to be used by the Fire Department, and that the Standard Oil Company has offered to
purchase same at 250 per foot. It appearing from discussion that the hose is in
too poor condition to be used by the City and that the price of 28�f6ifered by the
Standard Oil Company is a reasonable and fair prices it was moved by Trustee Love,
seconded by Trustee Cannon, that the City of E1 Segundo sell to the Standard Oil
Company approximately 500 ft., of used fire hose now owned by the City of $1 Segundo
at the price offered by said Standard Oil Company of 25¢ per foot. Carried by the
following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Anderson, Cannon, Love and Binder.
Noes: None.

SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS.
The hour of 800 o'clock P. M. this date having been heretofore set as the
date and hour for the hearing of protests against the laying'out and opening up of
Mariposa Avenue as provided for under Resolution of Intention No. 94 of the City
of 31 Segundo, the President pro -tam arose and announced that said hour had arrived
and asked if there were any person or persons present who desired to file protests
as aforesaid. Mr. Harold D. Dale, Right -of -Way Agent, advised the Board that in.
conversation with Ake Leaks, Attorney representing owners of property abutting the
proposed improvement who had heretofore filed protests with this Board and with
Dr. Gough, one of the owners of said property, they had stated that it might be
possible to procure the deeds to the necessary property without condemnation pro-
ceedings and they desired to have said hearing of protests postponed for one week
from date hereof in order to give Mr. Leaks an opportunity to hear from his clients
In regard to the matter. No other protests being filed, it was moved by Trustee
Cannon, seconded by Trustee Loos, that the hearing of protests against the laying
out and op4ng of Mariposa Avenue as provided for under Resolution of Intention
No. 94, be postponed until Friday, the 7th day of August, at the hour of 8:30 o'olock
P. N. Carried.
No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was
moved by Trustee Love, seconded by Trustee Cannon, that the meeting adjourn. Carried.
