A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of R1 Segundo,
California, was called to order at 7:00 o'clock P. Is on the above date, in the
Council Chamber of the City Hall of said 8ity, by Peter E. Binder, President of
the Board.
ROLL CALL.
Trustees Present: :nderson, Cannon, Gerow, Love and Binder.
Trustees Absent: hone.

The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 60th day of January, 1925,
were read. No drrors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Trustee Cannon,
seconded by Trustee Love, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried.
The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held on February 2nd, 1925,
were read, without error or omission being noted, and it was moved by Trustee
Love, seconded by Trustee Cannon, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried.

25th, 1925, of all further liability in the case of S. E. Dare, a former
employee of the City of E1 Segundo, alleged to have been injured during the
course of his employment on or about June 27th, 1924. Ordered filed.

10504 on Application No. 10770, in the matter of the application of the A. T. &
S. F. Railway Company for authority to construct a temporary spur track across
Rosecrans Avenue for the benefit of the Standard Oil Company. Ordered filed.
LOS yI;G.:;S COUNTY AUDITOR, enclosing a contract to be signed by the
City respecting the charge to be made a -inst cities by the County of Los
Angeles for the maintenance of prisoners confined in the County jail for violation
of municipal ordinances. The communication and contract were referred to the
City Attorney for consideration and report at the next regular meeting of the
Board.

The Fire Chief reported that he had met with full cooperation on the part
of the business people respecting his endeavors to have the practice of burning
refuse in mire District No. 1 discontinued, and that a number of merchants are
desirous of purchasing refuse containers to permit the Street Department to
conveniently remove the refuse daily.
It was moved by Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Love, that the following
resolution be adopted:
VdIM- :AS, the public peace, health and safety require that
refuse from restaurants and stores be deposited in suitable,
non- porous containers, so as to be removed and disposed cf daily
by the Street Department, and
WHEREEAS, the safety of the public of the City of 1Z Segundo
requires that the practice of buring rubbish within Fire District"
No. l.be discontinued, and that instead such rubbish be deposited
in suitable containers and collected daily by the Street Depart -
ment of the City of El Segundo, and
the efficient collection and disposal of such refuse,
requires that cans of suitable and uniform size be provied,

Is hereby authorized and instructed to purchase the requisite number
of galvanized iron rubbish cans, as may be determined by the Chief
of the M Segundo Fire Department, at a cost not to exceed 4295.00,
and
BE IT FMTH R RESOLVED, that in the interests of the public
peace, health and safety, the City Clerk be and he is farther
authorized and instructed to dispose of a number of these cans
at cost to any of the local merchants desiring to purchase the same.
The above resolution was carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Anderson, Cannon, Gerow, Love and Binder.

Absent: None.
The Superintendent of the Water Department reported that, pursuant to
previous instruction, he had reauested a water meter supply house to have one
of its engineers look over the municipal water department's pumping plant, with
the view of recommending the size and type of meter to be installed at the
pumping plant for the purpose of measuring water pumped and distributed, but
that such representative had not called to date.
The Right -of- "Jay Agent reported that he had called upon Mr. R. E. Matteson,
respecting a deed to right-of-way through a portion of the fisher Subdivision,
but that !r. Matteson stated it would be impossible to carry out the recommendation
as made by the City Attorney at the last regular meeting of the Board. He
stated further that within approximately six months time, the estate would be
out of probate court and the property will be held in trust and at that time it is
anticipated a deed may be procured gratis for the city.
The City Engineer -filed with the City Clerk his estimate of the cost of
improving the East side of 3onita .Vista Avenue between Walnut Avenue and Collingwood
Street with convent sidewalks and curbs; and Bayonne Street between Palm Avenue
and ',ianle Avenue with cement sidewalks and curbs, and grading of the roadway, and
that he is also furnishing this date to the Uity Attorney for his approval, the
plans and profiles of the same, together with a map of the assessment diagram.

The City Clerk stated that he had been requested by the Chamber of Commerce
to ask the 3oard of Trustees to grant permission for its secretary to use a desk
in the Council Chamber of the City Hall, and to have a space in said Council Chamber
allotted to it for a public office. Moved by Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee
Love, that until the further order of this 3oard, the Chamber of Commerce of the City
of M Segundo be and it is hereby granted permission to use the desk in the Council
Ciamber of the City :fall and such reasonable space as may be required to maintain
its office in said Council Chamber, no charge to be made for such use. Carried.
At this point Trustee Cannon was excused from further attendance at the
meeting, the hour being 8:32 o'clock P. M.
Daniels Hardware Company having made application for a license to sell small
firearms, it was moved by Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Love, that Daniels- 7ardware
Company be and it is hereby granted a license to sell small firearms within the City
of HZ Segundo for the period of one year from date hereof, subject to the cond'.tions
set out in Section 11, Chapter 339, Statutes of the State of Californh for the year
1923. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Anderson, Szomsn, Gerow, Love and Binder.
Noes: '_'lone. Absent: Trustee Cannon.
Moved by Trustee Love, seconded by Trustee Gerow, that the City Clerk be and
he is hereby authorized to procure prices on a desk for use in the City Hall. Carried.
At this point, Mrs. Helen K. Brock, Secretary of the El Segundo Chamber of
Commerce, thank6d the 3oard of Trustees on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce for
granting it permission to use the Council Chamber of the City hall as its office,
and for use of desk as requested.
No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was moved
by Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Love, that the meeting adjourn. Carried.
