1925 APR 30 CC MINs El Segundo, Cal. April 30th, 1925. An adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo, California, was called to order at 7 :00 o'clock P. Me on the above date in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City by Peter E. Binder, President of the Board. ROLL CALL. Trustees Present: Cannon, Gerow, Love and Binder. Trustees Absent: Anderson. READING OF ?1IP3UTES OF PREVIOUS IMTING. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 24th day of April, 1925, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Trustee Cannon, seconded by Trustee Gerow, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. MITTr"1.' COMI. MICATIONS. The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated: THE LUbSBEMIENS FI.WC : CO.RPORATION, requesting the City of E1 Segundo to release all portions of Lot 3, Block 2, Tract 1685, L1 Segundo, except the Westerly 5 feet thereof, from the reservations now of record conveying to said city the right to construct, maintain and operate water pipes and other conduits upon said land. By general consent the matter was referred to the City Attorney for recommendation as to procedure anc preparation of the required legal documents. .XMICAN LEGION POST NO. 38, enclosing list of names of its members who will participate in the taking of the official census of the City of E1 Segundo. Ordered filed. L. P. BISHOP and H. J. BALDWIN, offering to sell to the City of E1 Segundo Lot 7, in Block 349 and Lot 10 in Block 34 owned by these gentlemen respectively, each for the sum of $`1000.00. It appearing that these lots are within the block in which the water works site is situated and that the city has procured other lots in said block for the sum of X800.009 it was moved by Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Cannon, that the City Clerk be and he is hereby instructed to communicate with these gentlemen, advising that the City would not pay more than $800.00 each for their properties. Carried. None. ORAL C012-'UN ICAT IONS. REPORTS OF STANDIK G COMMITTEE'S. Trustee Gerow of the Public 1+orks Committee reported that the paving on certain streets within the City had to be removed in order to permit of the con- struction of cement curbs and that inasmuch as the curbs are completed, he felt that the Street Superintendent should be instructed to repave these portions in order to eliminate existing dangerous conditions. It was thereupon moved by Trustee Love, seconded by Trustee Gerow, that the Street Superintendent be and he is hereby instructed to repair all street surfaces within the City,where same were broken to permit of curb construction, by paving the same from the edges of existing paving to the curbs. Carried by the following votes Ayes: Trustees Cannon, Gerow, Love and Binder. Does: None. Absent: Trustee Anderson. UNFIMSHM BUSINESS. It appearing that the American Legion will be ready on or about the 15th day of May, 1925, to prosecute the taking of an official census of the City of El Segundo as heretofore considered by this Board of Trustees, it was moved by Trustee Cannon, seconded by Trustee Gerow, that Resolution No. 91, entitled: A RESOLUTION OF TIM BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUITTDO, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING THE NECESSITY FOR A CENSUS OF SAID CITY; EL ECTING TO TAKE SUCH A C.;:iSL'S UND3:R THE AUTHORITY OF TFM LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, IN THE MANNER PROVIDED BY THAT CERTAIN ACT OF SAID LEGISLATURE, ENTITLED "All ACT TO AUTHURIZE ANY CITY, OR CITY AND COUNTY OF THIS STATE, TO TtlKE ITS CENSUS ", APPROVED FEBRUARY 25TH, 1897; DE `L:XRIVG ITS INT 'VTION TO CAUSE SUCH CENSUS TO BE TAX=, AND PRO - VIDING FOR THE TAKII.G OF THE SA?"..T -, which was read, be adopted. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Cannon, Gerow, Love and Binder. Noes: None. Absent: trustee Anderson. Loved by Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Love, that the Klansmen of El Segundo.be and they are hereby granted permission to use the City hall Auditorium on the evening of May 23rd, 1925, and that the customary charge of ;'3.75 be made therefor. Carried. No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was moved by Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Cannon, that the meeting adjourn. Carried.
