1924 OCT 17 CC MIN60 El Segundo, Cal. Oct. 17th, 1924. A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo, California, was called to order at 7 :00 o'clock P. M. on the above date in the Council Chamber of the City hall of said City by Peter E. Binder, President of the Board. ROLL CALL. Trustees Presents Cannon, Gerow and Binder. Trustees Absent: Anderson and Love. READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS li T. ING. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 10th day of October, 1924, were read. No errors or omissions appearing, it was moved by Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Cannon, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried.` TRITTEN C0112MNICATIONS. The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated: WILLIAM LL SCOTT, P. 0. Box 162, Las Vegas, Nevada, a letter expsessing his willingness to accept the city's offer of .800.00 cash net to him for Lot 2, Block 34, in the City of E1 Segundo. Moved by Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Cannon, that the City Clerk be and he is hereby authorized and instructed to open an escrow with any reputable bank of title company of Los Angeles County, for the purpose of effecting the purchase of Lot 2 in Block 34 of the City of E1 Segundo, free and clear of encumbrances except taxes of the fiscal year, 1924 -1925 and except also conditions, restrictions, reservation, etc., usual to real property within the City of El Segundo, the present owner of said property to receive $"p800.00 net cash, all expenses in connection with the escrow and obtaining certificate of title not to exceed 475.00. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Cannon, Gerow and Binder. Noes: -None. Absent: Trustees Anderson and Love. None. None. ORAL CO:,2UNICATIONS. REPORTS OF STAIV'DING COMMITTEES. REPORTS OF OFFICERS AIM SPECIAL COIMITT 'ES. The City Clerk filed with the Board his quarterly report for the quarter ending Sept. 30th, 1924. The City Clerk filed with the Board a report of his attendance at the Convention of the League of California Municipalities, held at Monterey, California, October 6th to 10th, 1924. The City Clerk reported receipt of deeds to Lot 20, Block 10, Sheet No. 1 1 Segundo, Lots 1, 8, 9, 11, 12 and 13, Block 34, Sheet No. 7 E1 Segundo, and Lots 1, 2 and 3, Block 65, El Segundo Sheet No. 7, from the Pacific- Southwest Trust and Savings Bank, contracts for the purchase of which were entered into on August 23rd, 1923, the final payment on said contracts having been made Sept. 5th, 1924. There was received, at the same time, title insurance certificates Nos. 269071, 269 -72 and 269073, covering the same properties and showing them free and clear of encumbrances except taxes for the fiscal year 1924 -1925, and conditions, restrictions and reservations usual to real property within the City of E1 Segundo. These documents were perused by the City Attorney and after he had passed upon them as being satisfactory, they were ordered filed. F 81 Harold D. Dale, right -of -way agent, reported that he had spent most of his time during the prior week preparing abstracts of title and that his work otherwise is progressing satisfactorily. He stated that his duties require him to use his automobile to a greater extent than he anticipated when he was employed by the City and a discussion followed as to just remuneration for such use. It was then moved by Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Cannon, that Harold D. Dale be allowed as compensation in full for use of his personal automobile in connection with the discharge of his official duties and until the further order of this Board, the sum of ;50.00 per month, beginning Nov. 1st, 1924. Carried by the following vote: Ayew; Zrustees Cannon, Gerow and Binder. Noes: None. Absent: Trustees Anderson and Love. UNFINISHED BUSINESS. The President stated that the prices quoted locally for the installation of a drinking fountain in the City of E1 Segundo park east of the American Legion Building are not satisfactory and by general consent the City Clerk was instructed to obtain prices on drinking fountains and to submit the same to the Board of Trustees at its next regular meeting. J V Discussion was had concerning the advisability-of police officers of the City of E1 Segundo using automobiles or motorcycles in the discharge of their duties and the marshal informed the Board that it would cost 0130.00 to repair the damage recently done to the city's motorcycle. He also advised that the Henderson Motorcycle Sales Company would allow the city 4200.00 for the old motorcycle on the purchase price of a new one, which would make the net cost of a new Henderson motorcycle $375.00. Following discussion the City Marshal was instructed to obtain prices on other makes of motorcycle. The Marshal announced the revocation of the appointments of George McCord and B. :Nebeker as Deputy Marshals. Moved by Trustee Cannon, seconded by Trustee Gerow, that the City Clerk be and he is hereby authorized to have window shades substitUnd for the Venetian Blinds now used in the Fireman's Quarters in the City Hall at a cost not to exceed X25.00. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Cannon, Gerow and Binder. Noes: None. Absent: srustees Anderson and Love. Moved by Trustee Cannon, seconded by Trustee Binder, that Trustee Gerow be and he is hereby authorized to attend the dater Works Convention to be held at. Sacramentc, California, Oct. 23rd to 25th inclusive, and to file his demand for his reasonable expenses in connection therewith. The motion was put by the Clerk and carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Cannon and Binder. Noes: None. A bsent: Trustees Anderson and Love. Not Voting: Trustee Gerow.
