A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of 21 Segundo,
California, was called to order at 7 :30 o'clock P. K. on the above date in the
Council Chamber of the City Hall of said City by Peter F.. Binder, President of
the Board.
ROLL CALL.
Trustees Present: Gerow, Love, Rueger, Smiley and Binder.
Trustees Absent: Tone.

The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 4th day of Yar*, 1924
were read. To errors or omissions being noted, they were approved upon motion
of Trustee Rueger, seconded by Trustee Love, which carried.

The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated:
FELIY DAVM, requesting permission to cut the curb in front of his
premises at :;os. 215 -217 Loma Vista Street for the purpose of constructing
driveways into said - remises. Roved by Trustee Rue�;er, seconded by Trustee
Love that this permission be granted provided said work is prosecuted and
completed in accordance with specifications of the City of -.1 Segundo
relating to the construction, of sidewalks and curbs and in all respects to
the satisfaction of the Street Superintendent of the City of yl Segundo.
Carried.
PACIFIC TELEPHOiE & Tom, GRAY CO., requesting permission to set one
35 foot pole on the North side of Oak Avenue. Moved by Trustee Rueger,
seconded by Trustee Love, that this permission be granted, subject to the
work being prosecuted and completed to the satisfaction of the Street
Superintendent of the City of E1 Segundo. Carried.
BOULDER DAL' ASSOCIATION, ITembership Letter l+o. 6 respecting progress
being made toward the passage of legislation favorable to the Boulder Canyon
project. Ordered. filed.
ORAL COIST, I•:ICATIOTAS.
Prof. J. F. %:onroe addressed the Board relative to the city accepting
deeds to certain portions of Lots 8, 9, 4 and 5 in Block 96, for the purpose
of providing a public street through the same. Following discussion it was
moved by Trustee Rueger,'seconded by Trustee Smiley, that the following
resolution be adopted:
11R3SOLV,..D, that the action of this Board of Trustees
heretofore taken respecting the preparation of deeds for the
?purpose of opening a street north and South through Lots
8, 9, 4 and 5 in Block 96, be and the same is hereby rescinded,
and,
BE IT FURTHER R:SOLVED, that the City Attorney -prepare the
necessary deeds to the property required to provide a street
throw a - ortion of Block 96 as requested by the property
owners owning property which will abut the said street, and
BE IT FU3TTT= R::SOL'v.,D, that whenever all instruments
necessary to properly convey said real property to the City of
E1 Segundo free and clear of encumbrance have been approved ,

by the City Attorney of the City of Zi Segundo and a Certi-
ficate of Title has been filed with this Board of Trustees
showing said property to be conveyed to the satisfaction of this
Board free and clear of all encumbrance that this Board will
thereupon accept such instruments, and
BL IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this action of the Board of
Trustees shall not be construed as a precedent, as this Board
deems an emergency exists in the present case as dwelling houses
have been constructed on said proposed street, and
BE IT FURT?I R 2 SOLVRL, that this Board of Trustees will not
look with favor upon future applications for public streets
similarly situated. "

W. E. Horgan requested permission to renew fire insurance policy on the
City Mall building expiring'March 16th, 1924. Moved by Trustee Rueger, seconded
by Trustee Love that existing fire insurance policies on municipal properties
expiring during the month of March be and the same are hereby ordered renewed in
the same amounts and through the same agencies as original �ywritten. Carried by
the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Gerow, Love, Rueger, Smiley and Binder.

he Building Inspector reported that in connection with the codification
of the Building, Plumbing and Zlectrical ordinances of the City of E1 Segundo,
he finds that it. will be too expensive to procure outside help for the purpose
cf considering drafting a new Building Ordinance and that he felt that the addition
of a few sections to the existing Building Ordinance to clarify c::rtain of the
existing provisions and to cover certain forms of construction not included in the
existing ordinance would suffice. He further stated that he felt that he could
make such recommendations at the next regular meeting of the Board and that the
existing Plumbing and Electrical Ordinances operate satisfactorily. By general
consent this recommendation was accepted.

Trustee Rueger advised the Board that his attention had been called to
the fact that the Seely -Bug is damaging vegetation within the City. After
discussion it was moved by Trustee Gerow, seconded by Trustee Love, that the City
Clerk be and he is hereby authorized to procure the services of the County
HorticulturelDepartment or the County Forester for the purpose of learning the
roper method to combat the pest. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees
zero;,, Love, Rueger, Smiley and :3inder. Noes: None. Absent: None.
The City Clerk advised the Board that the cenent approach to the fire
engine room is broken and that driving the fire engine over it daily aggravates
the condition. Moved by Trustee Rueger, seconded by Trustee Love, that the Street
Superintendent be and he is hereby instructed to repair the approach to the fire
engine room. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Gerow, Love, Rueger, Smiley and Binder.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.
Trustee Gerow expressed the opinion that the center foundation of the City
Hall should be examined for the purpose of ascertaining whether or not a settlement
of the same, which is apparent from the condition of the floor in the main corridor,
could not be arrested. Moved by Trustee Rueger, seconded by Trustee Smiley, that
this matter be referred to the Building Inspector with authorization to employ such
help as may be necessary to make needed repairs. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Gerow, Love, Rueger, Smiley and Binder.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was moved
by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Rueger, that the meeting adjourn. Carried.
