regular order of business be dispensed with and that the Board pro-
ceed to discuss awarding of contracts for furnishinS- the City of E1
Segundo with cast iron water priple, gate valves, fire hydrants, valve
box covers, one 100,000 'gallon steel tank with tower, two horizontal
Centrifugal pumpin_ units with electric motors, all as pre�,ious ly
advertised for by the Board of Trustees and for which bids were re-
ceived'and publicly declared at a regular meeting of the Board of
Trustees held on the 22nd day of ? =_Qy, 1923. Carried by the following
vote:
Ayes: ^rustees Binder, Davis, Rue -er, Smile; and Bryson.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.
After due consideration had been given-to the respective bids,
it was moved by Trustee Rue -er, seconded by Trustee Davis, that the
foilowing resolution be adopted:
".HEREAS, The Board of Trustees of the City of ,E1 Segundo has

carefully considered all bids submitted on the 22nd ay of May)
1923, for furnishing said city with water pipe, gate valves, fire
hydrants, valve boy. covers, one 100,000 gallon; steel tank with
tower and two horizontal centrifugal pumping: units with electric
motors, and have investigated the supplies and equipment offered
by the respective bidders and are familiar with the same and the
adaptability thereof for the work and use for which the same are
intended in the City of El Segundo,
NOV THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That awardsfor the furnishing
of the said materials and equipment in accordance with the powers
reserved in this Board, in the'Notice to Bidders in the within
matter, be and the same are hereby made as follows, to- Writ:
An award to the U. S. Cast Iron Pipe and Foundry Co. for
the quantities and kinds of pipe mention3d in the respective sub-
divisions of their bid as filed with this Board and as hereinafter
set forth and as determined by this Board as follows, to -wit:

An award to Byron Jackson Pump . Manufacturing Company for the
equipment and installing same as mentioned in subdivisions 1 and 3
of their bid as filed with this Board Ilay 22nd, 1923, at the prices
stated in said bid as determined by this Board as follows, to -wit:
(1) For furnishing f.o.b. Vl Segundo, California,
two duplicate pumping units, each consisting of one
centrigugal.pump direct connected to an electric motor
and mounted on a cast iron frame, complete and in
accordance with the general specifications therefor, and
also conforming to the more detailed specifications sub-
mitted herewith and made a part hereof: .

the Testinghouse Motor mentioned in said bid be used in the install-
ation of the equipment covered by said bid,:and

one 100,000 gallon steel Later tank and tower described under Item
1 of their bid filed with this Board on the 22nd day of Iilay, 1923,
and at the price therein stated and determined by this Board, being
as follows, to -wit:
(1) For furnishing, fabricating and erecting in the
City of E1 Segundo, California, one 100,000 gallon Steel 'dater
Tank and Tower, together with all necessary appurtenances and
in accordance with the General Specifications of the City
of L1 Segundo therefor, and in conformity with the more
detailed specifications submitted herewith and made a part

It was then moved by Trustee Davis, seconded by Trustee
Smiley, that the following Resolution be adopted:
pursuant to Notices duly given, requesting the
same, the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo, on the
22nd day of L:ay, 1923, received bids for furnishing the City of
El Segundo with fire hydrants, as mentioned in the Notice to
Bidders, :published as required by law, and
V,'HEREAS on the 22nd day of Lc'ay, 19230 all bids received
therefor were opened and publicly declared in•re�ular•session of
said Board had on said date, and

seconded and carried, were taken under advisement,luntil the present
meeting of this Board, and
said Board has duly considered each and all of said
bids so submitted, for furnishing said fire hydrants, and
r,HEREAS, said Board has determined that the action hereinafter
taken is for the best interests of the said city and will best sub -
serve the public interest, necessity and safety therein,
.NO; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That all bids received for the
furnishing of fire hydrants necessary for the completion of a municipal
water works system as contemplated by the plans and specifications
prepares by Ol�stead & Gillelen, Supervising Engineers, be and the
same are hereby rejected except the bid hereinafter mentioned and
that the contract for furnishing the number and size of fire hydrants
required by the City of El Segundo as may be determined by Olmstead
& Gillelen, be and the same is hereby awarded to the V,ater forks
Supply Company at the prices mentioned in their bid- as determined
by this Board, as follows, to -wit:
