were read without error or omission being noted and it was moved by
Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Rueger, that the minutes be
approved as read. Carried.
The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held on the 1st day
of ldarch, 1923 were read. Ro errors or omissions being noted, it was
moved by Trustee Rueger, seconded by Trustee Smiley, that they be
approved as read. Carried.

The following communications were read and disposed of'as:

F. G. CALKIZrS, President, Merchants Ice W Cold Storage Co.,
a. letter explaining the work and purpose of the Orthopaedic Hospital-'
School for Crippled Children. Moved by Trustee Rueger, seconded by
Trustee Davis, that the following resolution be adopted:
"NHEREAS, there is maintained in the City of Los
Angeles, California, a certain institution named and
known as the "Orthopaedic Hospital- School for Crippled
Children ", and
,�'HEREAS, from time to time hereafter it may be
necessary for certain minor children from the City
of E1 Segundo, California, to be housed in and cared
for in the said hospital during illness, and
rdHLREAS, this Board deems that action hereinafter
taken is for the public interest, convenience, health
and safety of the said City of E1 Segundo and particularly
of the minor children therein residing,
UO-97 THFiE_&VORE, BE IT RESOLVE D$ That the City Clerk
be and he is hereby authorized and instructed to visit
the said Orthopaedic Hospital in Los Angeles to in-
vestigate conditions there and to.,expend such amount,
not exceeding 925.00, out of the Petty Cash Fund of the
City of E1 Segundo, as may upon such investigation appear
proper, for equipment for the City of �1 Segundo, which
may be used in said Hospital ".
Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Davis, Rueger, Smiley and Bryson.
Noes: Done.

Board of trustees of the City of El Segundo , to attend the dedication
of the recently installed lighting system at Altadena, to be held on
Saturday, Lurch 10th, 1923. Ordered filed.
A petition, signed by Arthur Budgen and seven other ordners of
property on LIaple Avenue, between Lain and Virginia Street, asking the

Board—to. take_ such ....steps . as .might be. necessary to improve. the street
under one of the street improvement acts of California. It
appearing uncertain just what class of construction was wanted on
the street, it was moved by Trustee Rueger, seconded by Trustee
Davis, that the matter be referred back to the petitioners, with
the rep_uest that they inform the Board at its next regular meeting
what grade of improvement is desired. Carried.

11oved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Rueger, that the
I.Iasonic Lodge be granted use of the City Hall Auditorium on the
evening of March 30th, 1923, and that the customary rental charge
of 9'3.75 be made therefor. Carried.

it was moved by Trustee Rueger, seconded by Trustee Davis, that the
meeting adjourn. Carried.
