An adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the
City of E1 Segundo, California, was called to order at 7:30 o'clock
P. L. on the above date in the Council Chamber of the City Hall by
William C. Bryson, President of the Board.
ROLL CALL.
Trustees Present: Davis, Rueger, Smiley and Bryson.
Trustees Absent: Binder.
By general consent the regular order of business was dispensed
vri th.
The following communications were read and disposed of as
indicated:
HOrr1AUz) JONES, applying for appointment to the position of
Janitor and Fire Engine Driver.
P. D. Gardner, applying for appointment to the office of
City Recorder.
MI. H. Snyder, applying for Appointment to the office of
City Marshal.
On motion of Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Davis, which
c- rried, these were ordered filed.
F. G. 11LIDAVILLE, requesting permission to cut the curb in
front of his premises, No. 539 Loma. Vista Street, for the purpose
of constructing a cement driveway. Moved by Trustee Smiley,
seconded by Trustee Davis, that this permission be granted,
providing the work is prosecuted and completed to the satisfaction
of the Street Superintendent of the City of El Segundo. 8arried.
Trustee Binder appeared at the meeting at this point and
took .1is seat, the hour being 7:32 o'clock P. M.

seconded by Trustee Smiley, that
the demands be allowed and warrants drawn on the General Fund
for
the same. Carried
by the following vote:

The Clerk advised the Board of the expiration of the City's
contract with Kinney and Benedict for the purchase of garbage collected
within the City of E1 Segundo and that said firm would renew the same
but at reduced rates. It was moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by
Trustee Rueger, that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare a con-
tract for the purchase of garbage by Kinney and Benedict on a basis of
the prices offered by said firm. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Binder, Davis, Rueger, Smiley and Bryson.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.
The Clerk advised the Board that the Street Department was in need
of a tire.- Moved by Trustee Rueger, seconded by Trustee Smiley, that
the City Clerk be instructed to purchase a tire for the Street Department
at a cost not to exceed $45.00. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Binder, Davis, Rueger, Smiley and Bryson.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.
Moved by Trustee Rueger, seconded by Trustee Smiley, that the
City Clerk be instructed to purchase an extension ladder with automatic
safety feature as described on Page 20 of the Los Angeles Ladder
Company's catalogue, le th to be furnished the Clerk by Betyl McAllister,
at a cost not to exceed 25.00. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Binder, Davis, Rueger, Smiley and Bryson.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.
While awaiting the arrival of the City Attorney, it was suggested
that the minutes of the meeting held on March 15th, 1922,be - read, which
was done and no errors or omissions being noted, it was moved by Trustee
Smiley, seconded by Trustee Davis, that the same be approved as reed.
Carried.
Moved by Trustee Davis, seconded by Trustee Rueger, that Ordinance
No. 85, entitled:
"AIT ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA,
ORDERING, CALLING, PROVIDING FOR AND GIVING NOTICE
OF A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE 1=. IN SAID CITY ON
MONDAY, THE 10TH DAY OF APRIL, 1922, FOR THE PURPOSE
OF SUBMITTING TO TIM, QUALIFIED VOTERS OF SAID CITY
THE PROPOSITION OF INCURRING A BO -1ZED INDEBTEDNESS
FOR THE ACQUISITION, CONSTRUCTION AND CONPIXTION BY
SAID CITY, OF A CERTAIN MUNICIPAL IMPROVM=, NAIEELY,
A PUBLIC BUILDING, TO -WIT: A PUBLIC ASSMOLY HALL:
PROVIDING FOR ELECTION PRECINCTS; DESIGNATING THE POLLING
PLACES; AND APPOINTING ELECTION OFFICERS FOR SAID ELECTION;
PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF BONDS FOR SAID PURPOSE AND
FOR THE !XMNG OF A TAX FOR THE PAYJ= OF SAID BOTIDS ",
which was introduced and read at a regular meeting of the Board held on
the 8th day of March 1922, be adopted. . Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Binder, Davis, Rueger, Smiley and Bryson.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.
Trustee Smiley introduced Ordinance No. 86, entitled:
"AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO,
CALIFORNIA, AM=ING SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE
H1 B1M 31 OF SAID CITY EI'i'ITLID: "AN ORDINANCE
OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, REG-
ULATIIJG THE CONSTRUCTIONI, ALTERATION, REPAIRING,
DRUTOLISHING, MAINTAINING AND OCCUPY OF BUILDINGS
AND OTHER STRUCTURES WITHIN SAID CITY,
PROVIDING FOR THE COND=ATION OF BUILDINGS
AND OTHER. STRUCTURETS D ANGEROUS TO 'PROPERTY,
LIFE OR LIMB, AND FIXING AND DETERMINING
FIRE LIMITS IN AND FOR SAID CITY ", PASSED
ALIM ADOPTED ON THE 20TH DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1918"
which was read.

The City Attorney was asked as to the legality of the City
contributing to the Boy Scout Movement as requested by a Committee having
such a movement in charge. The Attorney advised that the Board is
pdrmitted to expend annually not to exceed 5% of the tax levy for music
and promotion and he would advise them that they could contribute to
the boy Scout cause. Action was deferred until March 22nd in accordance
with previous resolution of the Board.
No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting,
it was moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Davis, that the
meeting adjourn. Carried.
