1922 JUN 28 CC MINlje E1 Segundo, Cal. June 28th, 1922. A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of El Segundo, California, was called to order at 7:30 o'clock P. Y. on the above d-te in the Council Chamber of the City Hall by William C. Bryson, President of the Board. ROLL CALL. Trustees Present: Binder, Davis,. Rueger, Smiley and Bryson. Trustees Absent: None. READING OF MINUTES OF PIL7VIOUS =T. ING . The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 21st day of June, 1922 were read without error or omission being noted and were approved upon motion of Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Binder, which carried. Trustee Davis reported to the Board that the Health Officer was in E1 Segundo on Monday last, at which time lie was given the addresses of eight E1 Segundo persons who had complained about being served with muddy water and that the Health Officer vrlls to procure four samples, upon which he was to render a report to the Board at a later date. =OR:'S OF SPECIAL CO1=TTEES. Trustee Davis reported to the Board that he had prepared the write - up for the advertisement which is to appear in the special edition of the American- Legion leekly Bulletin and had procured and delivered to the publishers pictures of buildings and places of interest, which will be displayed in the advertisement. The City Attorney reported that he had received from the County of Los Angeles notice of a court action brought to determine'the distri- bution of fines collected for violation of the motor vehicle act and deposited with the County Treasurer. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Binder, Davis, Rueger, Smiley and Bryson. Noes: None. Absent: None. UNFINISHED BUSI17LSS. The Clerk advised the Board that he had received from the El Segundo State Bank the deed to the easterly 70 ft, of Lots Nos. 7 and 8 of Block'21, recently purchased from the American Legion and that the Title Company desired Notice of Acceptance before pre-oaring the certific.:.te of title. It was moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Davis that the following resolution be adopted: "RESOL r+ , That that certain grant deed bearing date the 19th day of May, 1922, from A. W. Gleason and Elizabeth C. Gle<..son, his -rife, as grantors, to the City of El Segundo, a municip-1 corporation, of the County of Los Angeles, State of California, as grantee, to that certain property situated in the said City of E1 Segundo, County of Los Angeles, State of California, and described as follows, to-wit: "The easterly seventy(70) Eight ( 8 ) of Block Twenty-one County of Los Angeles, State recorded in the office of the County of Los Angeles, State pa "e 59 of Yaps, feet of Lots Seven (7) and (21), El Segundo, in the of California., as per map rN Count* Recorder of the of California., in Book 18, "be and the same is hereby accepted on behalf of the said City of El Segundo. "I_idD BE IT 17RTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clem: of the said City of El Segundo be, and he is hereby authorized and instructed to cause the said deed to be immediately recorded in the office of the County Recorder of said Los Angeles County," Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Binder, Davis, Rueger, Smiley and Bryson. Noes: None. Absent: None. The City Attorney advised the Board that the Clerk had drawn his attention to the fact that the resolution authorizing the purchase of certain property from the AMerican Legion provided that the same should be conveyed to the City clear and free of encumbrance except restrictions and reservations of record, while the deed delivered to the City Clerk shows said property subject to taxes for the fiscal year 1922 -23,x' Loved by Trustee Rueger, seconded by Trustee Smiley, that the following resolution be adopted: "RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City of El Segundo be and he is hereby authorized to amend the instructions -with respect to the purchase of Lots 7 and 8 in Block 21 of the City of ill Segundo, Which said instructions ivere upon order of the Board previously given the 11 Segundo State Bank, such amendment to provide for the taking of said property subject to ta?:es for the fiscal year 1922 -23 ". Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Birder, Davis, Rue. -er, Smiley and'Bryson. Noes: 11 one . l"Ibsent : None. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Binder, Davis, Rueger, Smiley and Bryson. Noes: None. Absent: None. 11TD -7 BUSINT'S S . The Marshal announced the appointment of Clyde -Woodyard as a Deputy and requested the Board's approval of such appointment. Upon motion of Trustee Rueger, seconded by Trustee Davis, which carried, this appointment was approved. Trustee Davis drew attention to the desirability of equipping the City with certain linen and a stretcher for the use of the Police Department in emergencies due to accidents or illness. By general consent the Clerk was instructed to procure prices on these articles as well as a case in which to keep the linen. Moved by Trustee Rueger, seconded by Trustee Davis, that•the City Clerk be and he is hereby authorized and instructed to write Braun, Bryant & Austin, asking why they have not repaired Richmond Street as they agreed to'do per their communication dated May 22nd, 1922. Carried.- ?roved by Trustee Rueger, seconded by Trustee Davis that the Street Superintendent be and he is hereby instructed to estimate the cost of building a gravel path on El Segundo Avenue from Main Street to Arizona. Drive, such path to be constructed in a manne- similar to the path constructed in Main Street between lZ riposa end Collins -- root? street. Carried. No further business appearing to be transacted at this session, it was moved by Trustee Davis, seconded by Trustee Smiley, that the meeting adjourn until the 1st day of July, 1922 at the hour of 11:30 o'clock A.
