A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
E1 Segundo, California, was called to order at 7:30 o'clock P. M.
on the above date in the Council Chamber of the City Hall by - ,oilliam
C. ?Bryson, President of the Board.

Hall for a card party on the evening of H.ay 31st, 1922. Moved by
Trustee Rueger, seconded by Trustee Smiley, that the American Legion
Au :ciliary be granted permission to use the City IIall Auditorium without
charge on the evening of May 31st, 1922. Carried.
A number of members of the B.P.O.E., requesting use of the
City Hall Auditorium on the evening of May 29th, 1922, for the purpose
of holding an entertainment. Moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by
Trustee Rueger, that this permission be granted. Carried.
CHAS. GAHRING and others, a petition requesting the improvement
of Loma Vista Street from Grand Avenue to a point 335 feet South of
Franklin Avenue. Idoved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Binder,
that the following resolution be adopted:
"AREAS, it appears that certain residents
and property owners of the City of '1 Segundo are
willing to pay certain money in the sum of :,195.00
into the Treasury of the City of E1 Segundo,
California, and into the General l'Znd thereof, for
the purpose of causing certain street improvements
within said city to be made, and

City Clerk of said City with instruction to pay the
same into said General Fund upon the adoption of
the following:
NOTI, TI " iEFO. ;, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Street
Superintendent be and he is hereby instructed to cause
the portion of that certain public street within the
City of El Segundo,Chalifornia, known as Loma Vista
Street, lying and being between Grand Avenue and a
point 335 ft. South of Franklin Avenue to be improved
by the construction therein of the following improvement,
to-wit: An improvement of rock and oil similar to that
constructed in Franklin Avenue between Richmond and Concord
Streets."
Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Binder, Rueger, Smiley and Bryson.

Absent: Trustee Davis.

ORAL COT-D3IRTI CATIONS.
City I arshal Tidwell advised the Board of Trustees that to date
many persons owning dogs have not paid the license tax required by
law and asked the Board's advice as to arresting the owners for non-
compliance. Following discussion it was moved by Trustee Smiley,
seconded by Trustee Rueger, that the City 2� rshal be and he is hereby
instructed to proceed with the collection of dog licenses or to in-
stitute the legal action against the owners of unlicensed dogs as
provided for in Ordinance No. 7 of the City of E1 Segundo. Carried
by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Birider, Rueger, Smiley and Bryson.
Noes: None.
Absent: Trustee Davis.
REPORTS OF STAiTDING CO=TTEES.
Trustee Binder of the Public Works Comnittee advised having
learned from the Electric Shop that to run the conduit to the electro-
liers on Grand Avenue west of Loma Vista Street and to wire said
electroliers for electricity would cost between X35.00 and :)40.00.
Moved by Trustee Binder, seconded by Trustee Rueger, that the Electric
Shop be authorized to proceed with the installation of conduit and
the wirin- of the electroliers on the Coast Boulevard at a cost not
to exceed 840.00. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Binder, Rueger,S miley and Bryson.
Noes: None.
Absent: Trustee Davis.
Trustee Binder of the Public Yorks Committee stated that the
Street Superintendent had informed him that in order to complete the
fence around the can dump two rods of wire fencing in addition to
what had been previously ordered would be needed and that after
consultation with the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, who consented
to the purchase of the two rods additional, he had authorized the
purchase of the material.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND SPECIAL COIEZITTEES.
The City Attorney advised having received no response from the
Edison Company relative to the license agreement for the use of their
poles for the construction of a fire alarm signalling system.

MY BUSINESS.
The Merl,. advised having received advice from Mr. James
E. Howell that the Boy Scout Committee desired to use the Council
Chamber on the afternoon of -Tfay 5th, 1922. Id-loved by Trustee Rueger,
seconded by Trustee Binder, that this permission be granted. Carried.
The Clerk advised the Board that he had received a request from
from Garretson & Company to be permitted to rent the City of E1
Segundo's tandem roller, to be used for a period of about ten days
at Redondo Beach, and from C. sf. Sharks desiring to rent the three
wheel roller for a period of about ten days to be used at Hermosa
Beach. The matter was discussed and it appearing undesirable to
allow both rollers to leave the city at the same time, it was moved
by Trustee Rueger, seconded by Trustee. Binder that rental of the
three wheel roller for a period of about ten days at the rate of
425.00 per day plus carfare for the roller engineer be granted to
either Garretson & Company or C. W. Sparks, preference being given
in the order that the requests were filed with the Clerk. Carried
by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Binder, Rueger, Smiley and Bryson.

Absent: Trustee Davis.
Trustee Rueger drew attention to the quality of the water being
supplied the City by the E1 Segundo '.dater Company, stating that the
same had been very dirty during the last few weeks, and after dis-
cussinc.- the matter it was moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by
Trustee Rueger, that the condition of the water being sup_lied the
residents of the City of E1 Segundo be called to the attention of the
El Segundo Water Company and that they be asked for relief. Carried.
No further business appearing to be transacted at this session,
it was moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Binder, that
the meeting adjourn until ?londay, May lst, 1922, at the hour of
12:00 o'clock Noon. Carried,
