Trustees absent: None.
READING LIULTES 2REVIOUS 12ETING.
The minutes of the regular meeting of the Board, held on the
14th day of September, 19 -21, were read. No errors of omissions
ap?earing, it was moved by Trustee Bryson, seconded by- Trustee Davis
that they be approved as read. Carried.
The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting of the Board held
on the loth day of September, 1921, were read without error or omiss-
ion being noted. On motion of Trustee Davis, seconded by Trustee
S,iiley, and carried, the same were approved as read.
WRITTEN C - IjUNICATIONS.
The following letters were read, and disposed of as indicated:

Moved by Trustee Davis, seconded by Trustee Binder, that the
position of Night Watchman now being held by 2. A. Culbertson, be
and the same is hereby declared vacant as of the 30th day of Sept.
1921, and that the employment of said P. A. Culbertson, by the
- City of E1 Segundo terminate on Said date. Carried by the following
vote: Ayes: Trustees Binder, Bryson, Davis, Smiley and Rueger.
Noes: Trustees None.
Absent: Trustees hone.
Moved by Trustee Binder, seconded by Trustee Davis, that L. W.
Dessert be and he is hereby appointed Night ;datchman of the City of
E1 Segundo, to assume the duties of his office at 9:00 o'clock °. 1".
Sept. 30th, 1921. Until the further order of this Board, he shall
receive as compensation in full for all services rendered as such
flight i "larehman, the sum of 4140.00 per month, payable monthly as
other city salaries are payable. Carried by the following•vote:
Ayes: Trustees Binder, Bryson, Davis, Smiley and Rueger.
Noes: Trustees None.
Absent: 'Trustees done.
Harry Z. Francis ) a request for an estimate of the cost of improving
and ) Colling wood St. between Hillcrest and Bonita Vista
0. L. Fleming, ) Avenues. Referred to the City Engineer.
Harry 76L. Francis, requesting that the grade be established on Collingwood
St. between Hillcrest and Bonita Avenues. Moved by Trustee Smiley,
seconded by Trustee Binder, that the City Engineer confer with the
Engineering Department of the City of Los Angeles, for the purpose of
agreeing on a grade for Collingwood St.Qarried.
Robert P. Fite, quoting a price on a new Ford Truck Chassis and
r_iakino an offer for the old Ford Truck Chassis now owned by the City.
ORAL COI.�,UIIICATIONS.
Lr. Sachs, of the R. P. Fite Ford Agency addressed the Board with
reference to purcghasing a Ford Touring car for municipal uses.

Trustee Davis of the Public Safety Committee recommended that the `+
end gate on the trailer attached to the fire engine be hinged so that
the hose carried therein may not be dumped out while the apparatus is
responding to a fire. On motion by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee
Bryson, that matter was referred to the 2ublic Safety Committee with
power to act.
In the absence of a report from the City Engineer with reference
to the plans of the City of Manhattan Beach to change the grade on Rose -
crans Ave., the City Clerk was instructed to communicate with the City
Clerk of that city for the puspose of obtaining information in the
matter.
Loved by Trustee miley, seconded by 'Trustee Binder, that the
following Resolution be adopted:
"RESOLVED, That the diagram exhibiting the improvements along
Richmond St. between Grand Avenue and E1 Segundo Avenue, in the City
of E1 Segundo, California, as done under the Resolution of Intention
of the Board of Trustees of said city, Ido. 34, and under an official
contract of the Street Superintendent of said city with Braun, Bryant,
and Austin, dated June 3rd, 1921, be and the same is hereby approved,
and the City Clerk of the Cit y of E1 Segundo is hereby instructed to
endorse the approval of the Board of Tr�,stees thereon.
Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Binder, Bryson, Davis, &Aley, and RuaJEr.

liEW BUSIi1ESS.
Moved by Trustee Binder, seconded by Trustee Smiley, that the
International Bible School be granted free use of the City Hall
Auditorium September 25th, 19219 for the purpose of holding
religious services. Carried.
L11oved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Binder, that the
Commaility Council be granted free use of the City Hall Auditorium
on the evening of September 29th, 1921, for the purpose of holding
an open public meeting and dance. Carried.
Trustee Smiley agreed to arrange for the replacement of the
red light on the Standard Oil Company's fence on the South side
of E1 Segundo Ave., at ;.lain St., which it had been reported has not
been burning.
Moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Davis, that the
City Clerk be instructed to ascertain the cost of installing street
lights(of the same type as that recently installed at Main St. and
Grand Ave.) at the corners of :1 Segundo Ave. and Iain St.; Rich -
mond St. and Franklin Ave., and Concord St. and Grand Ave., and
the approximate date of installation if ordered. Carried.
No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting,
it was moved by 'Trustee SsiilezT, seconded by Trustee Davis, that the
meeting adjourn. Carried.
