1921 OCT 19 CC MINE1 Segundo, Cal. Oct. 19, 1921. A regular meeting of the board of Trustees of the City of El .Segundo, California, was called to order at 7:30 o'clock P. M. on the above date in.the Council Chamber of the City Hall by Carl E. Rueger, President-of the Board. ROIL CALL, Trustees Present: Binder, Bryson, Davis, Smiley and $ueger.. Trustees Absent:. None. READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 13th day of October, 1921 were read without error or omission being noted and it was moved by Trustee Davis, seconded by Trustee Binder that they be approved as read. Carried. 17RITTEN COMMUNICATIONS. The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated: COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, announcing a meeting for the purpose of effecting a permanent Regional Planning Conference will be held Wednesday, October 26th, 1921 at 1d:00 A. M. at the office of the Board. Ordered filed. V. W. ROBBINS, expressing his views with respect to the Building Ordinance of the City. Ordered filed. NONE. ORAL C OLOJUNI CATI ONS. REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES, Trustee Binder of the Public Works Committee advised that the Auxiliary Telephone Bell recently installed is not working properly as yet and the Clerk was instructed to have the :Natter attended to. Trustee Davis of the Public Safety Committee reported his inability to locate a place for the burning or disposal of rubbish and recommended that the matter be dropped. Trustee Davis of the Public Safety Committee reported requesting the City Attorney to confer with H. J. B2,rber for the purpose of determining whether or not the work of the Recorder might be minimized and that following this conference he would be in position to make a recommendation to the Board concerning the Recorder's request for increase in salary. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Binder, Bryson, Davis, Smiley and Rueger. Noes: None. Absent: None. NEW BUSINESS. The Marshal announced the appointments of Raymond J. Fish and Ed Montiel as Deputies, requesting the Board's approval of the same. Moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Davis, that.these appoint- ments be approved. Carried. The City Clerk filed with -the Board this date his report of the financial transactions of the City for the quarter ending September 30th, 1921. Having ascertained the amount of money available between now and the time tax Collections will be received and in view of the number of E1 Segundo citizens unemployed at the present time, by general consent the Street Superintendent was instructed to give employment to approximately fourteen men during this period. Moved by Trustee Binder, seconded by Trustee Smiley that from and after the 20th day of October, 1921 and until the further order of this Board, the labor foreman employed by the Street Superintendent be compensated at the rate of 65g per hour for hours actually worked, and that all common laborers now employed by said Street Superintendent be compensated at the rate of 62je per hour for hours actually worked. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Binder, Bryson, Davis, Smiley and Rueger. Noes: None. Absent: None. No further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Davis, that the meeting adjourn. Carried.
