1921 JUN 03 CC MINs, E1 Segundo, Cal. June 3,. 1921. An adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of El Segundo, California, was called to order at 12 :00 o'clock Noon on the above date in the Council Chamber of the City Hall by Carl E. Rueger, President of the Board. ROLL CALL. Trustees Present: Bryson, Smiley and Rueger. Trustees Absent: Binder and Davis. Upon motion of Trustee Bryson, seconded by Trustee Smiley, which carried, the regular order of business was dispensed with. The Chair announced that the application of the Southern Cal. Gas Company for a permit to construct in E1 Segundo Avenue from Arizona Drive to Main Street and in Main Street from E1 Segundo Avenue to Franklin-Avenue an 8" pipe line for the conveying of gas, was the matter chiefly needing the Board's attention and he requested the City Engineer to report in the matter. City Engineer Arthur W. Cory reported that he had gone over the ground carefully and that he could see no serious objection to granting the permit applied for, providing the pipe line is laid 14 feet south of the North property line on &1 Segundo Avenue and 15 feet east of the center line of Main Street. It•was moved by Trustee Bryson, seconded by Trustee Davis, that the following resolution be adopted: "RESOLVED, That the Southern California Gas Company be and they are hereby granted permission to lay an 8" pipe line in E1 Segundo Avenue from Arizona Drive to "in Street and in Main Street from El Segundo Avenue to Franklin Avenue, provided, however,tr.Cc said pipe line shall be 12 feet south of the north property line on that portion of El Segundo Avenue from Arizona Drive to Center Street and that the center line of said pipe line shall be 14 feet south of the north property line on that portion of El Segundo Avenue lying and being between Center Street and iiain Street and that the center line of said pipe line shall be fifteen feet east of the center line of stain Street between El Segundo Avenue and Franklin Avenue, and provided further that any and all work performed hereunder shall be performed and completed in accordance with the provisions of Ordinance No. 49 of the City of El Segundo and to the satisfaction of the Street Superintendent of said City ". Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Bryson, Davis, Smiley and Rueger. Noes: None. Absent: Trustee B inder. Trustee -Oavis appeared at the meeting during the &iseussion of the application of the Southern California Gan Company for a permit to lap a pipe line in E1 Segundo Avenue. He immediately took. his seat, the hour being 12:10 o'clock. P. M. Trustee Binder appeared at the meeting and took his seat at the hour of 12:23 o'clock P. K. PAYING BILLS. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Binder, Bryson, Davis, Smiley and Rueger. Noes: None, Absent: None. The marshal announced the appointments of S. H. hinter, R. Moore, P. D. Gardner, V. D. McCarthy as deputies and requested the Board's Opproval of the same. Moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that the appointments of the persons named by the marshal at this meeting as deputies be and the same are hereby approved. Carried. The marshal announced the revocation of the appointment of J. H. Collins as a deputy. Moved by Trustee Binder, seconded by Trustee Davis, that the Elks be permitted to use the City Hall Auditorium on the afternoon of June 9th, 1921, for the purpose of giving a party to a crippled child, without charge. Carried. Moved by 'Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Davis, that the Trustees of the E1 Segundo Grammar School be granted permission to borrow 200 collapsible chairs on June 9th, provided the same are returned promptly to their usual place;. Carried. Yo further business appearing to be transacted at this meeting, it was moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Davis, that the meeting adjourn. Carried.
