A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo, California, was called to order at 7:30 o'clock 3. 1E. on the above date in -the Council Chamber of the City Hall by Carl E. Rueger, President of the Board. ROLL CALL. Trustees Present: Davis, Smiley and Rueger. Trustees Absent: Binder and Bryson. READING OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MLETINGS. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 6th day of July, 1921, were read without error or omission being noted, and it was moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Davis, that they be approved as read. Carried. The minutes of the special meeting of July 12th, 1921, were read. No errors or omissions being noted, they were approved upon motion of Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Davis, which carried. 'WRITTEN COLiUNICATIONS. The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated: A letter from the 0. T. Johnson Corporation, having reference to the building of a road into the property of said corporation in Section 7 of the City of El Segundo. Moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Davis, that the Street Superintendent be and he is hereby instructed to grade up the so- called Duley Road, so as to defini its lines and permit the same to be oiled, it being understoo, t thg�, � oil for said road shall be furnished by Mr. J. Trustee Davis of the Public Safety Committee reported that the Marshal had been given control of the fight Watchman, RE2ORTS OF OFFICrERS AidD SPECIAL COLMIT'T :ES. Trustee Rueger expressed the -belief that the doors to the City Hall, which are being painted, should be rehung at the earliest possible time, and the City Clerk ..as instructed to notify the painter to have the doors hung i0mediately. Cory presented for approval a map of Tract ?1o. 3630), the same being a resubdivision of a portion of Lot 10, Block 94, Sheet 3, Ll Segundo, as per map recorded in Book 20, Pages 22 and 23, of Maps, Records of Los Andes County, California. Lloved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Davis, that the following resolution be adopted: "ydHEt�r:AS, a certain map of Tract No. 3630, situated within the-City of El Segundo, County of Los Angeles, State of California, prepared by Arthur W. Cory for Alfred Carlson, was presented to the Board of 'Trustees of said City for its approval, and ZE ZAS, said map has been submitted to the City . The Chair drew attention to a hole in the roadway of Holly Avenue .between Concord and Virginia Streets, occasioned presumably by heavy truck. The Street Superintendent advised that he had given instructions to have the damage repaired on the afternoon of July 13th and if it was not done at that time would be done the next morning. The Chair drew attention to the fact that fir. F. Iii. Palmer, 424 Virginia Street, had been unable to procure gas service from the Southern California Gas Company, notwithstanding the presentati.oh of his application some three or four weeks ago. The City Clerk was instructed to communicate with the Gas Company in the matter and if -no satisfactory report is received from them by SaturdW, noon,. that the -City Attorney be communicated with. The Chair drew attention to the necessity of shoulders of Main Street from E1 Segundo Avenue to -It was moved by Trustee Davis, seconded by Trustee - Street Superintendent be and he is hereby instructs shoulders of I,;ain Street - Segundo Avenue to Collingwood Street.. Carried. repairing the Collingwood Street. Smiley, that the 3d to repair the **ffm7 from E1 Following - discussion with respect to signs at the corner of Main Street and Grand Avenue for the direction of vehicle traffic, it was moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Davis, that the matter be referred to the Public 47orks Committee. Carried. The Clerk announced that Carr & Brady were desirous of having constructed a retaining wall between their property and that of the City and that they were willing to meet one -half of the cost. The Clerk was instructed to obtain estimates on this work. The Street Superintendent inquired whether or not the Board would give him permission to rent the road rollers to. Braun, Bryant & Austin, these to be used in the prosecution of their contract for the improve- ment of 3ichmond- Street. By general consent this request was acceded to with the understanding that the customary rental charge of 425.00 per day would be made and that the city's operator be used on the machine. Moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Davis, that the City Clerk be and he is hereby authorised to purchase a reamer for the use of the street-department at a cost not to exceed 420.00. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Davis, Smiley and Rueger. Noes: None. Absent: Trustees Binder and Bryson. Moved by Trustee Smiley; seconded by Trustee Davis that the City Attorney be and he is hereby instructed to investigate the raise in the water rates made by the Sausal- Redondo 17ater Company, effective July 1st, 1921, and to take such action as he deems necessary before the Railroad Commission or any other body having jurisdiction. Carried. 14o further business appearing to be transacted at this session, it was moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Davis, that the meeting adjourn until Friday, the 15th day of July, 1921 at the hour of 4 :00 P.
