A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of i:l
Segundo was called to order at 7 :30 o'clock P. L. on the above date

The minutes of the regular meetin?- held on the 5th day of
January, 1921, were read without error or omission being noted. It
was moved by Trustee Bryson, seconded by Trustee Binder, that the
minutes be approved as read. Carried.
Trustee Davis appeared during the reading of the minutes and
took his seat, the hour being 7 :37 o'clocx P. id.

The following communications were read and disposed of as
indicated:
i+. L. McLUIGHT, District lHanager of the Southern California
Edison Company, advising that said company is not inclined to install
street lights recently requested for the easterly end of uariposa
Avenue and that i.ir. C. E. Houston, who will succeed him as District
h_anaer, will take the matter up with the Board of Trustees. Ordered
filed.
Mih'j. 2. A. WOiZaCK, seeking a permit to shoot within the
limits of the City of &l Segundo. idloved by Trustee Davis, seconded
by Trustee Bryson, that action be laid over for one week to permit
of investigation into the application. Carried.
RICHARD R. RI110E, making application for the position of
night watchman. Jrdered filed.
Iti.. EMILIE RUEGER, Secretary of the domen' s Auxiliary Unit
American Legion, Pacific Post No. 38, making application for permission
to use the Council Chamber on Thursday, January 13th, for the purpose
of holding a meeting. Loved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee
Bryson, that said use be granted without charge. Carried.

placing himself at the service of the Board of `Trustees in such
matters as they might care to have passed or considered by the
State Legislature. Jrdered filed.

H. A. Yount, vocal wealth Jfficer, addressed the Board relative
to having a clean -up week for the City of El Segundo, at which time
rubbish oe removed from vacant lots and tenanted property throughout
the City. Considerable discussion ensued and by general consent
it was decided to.designate the creek commencing February 14thas
clean -up week. It was then moved by Trustee Davis, seconded by
Trustee Smiley, that for the purpose of giving publicity to this matter,
the Health .)fficer be and he is hereby authorized to prepare and have
urinted exolanator- dodgers, which will be distributed throughout the
City, at a cost hot to exceed 025.00. Carried by the follovring.vote:

.REPORTS OF STANDING COMITTEES.
Trustee Binder, of the public ;-forks Committee, reported that he
had been unable to have the large platform in the City Hall Auditorium
_repaired during the past weer;, but anticipated 'having it attended to
before the next meeting.
Trustee Davis of the 2ublic 6afety Committee reported that a
number of the officers of the j1 Segundo Volunteer 2ire Department had
resigned and that the annual meeting of said organization, as required
by its by -laws, had not been held. It was suggested that he get in
touch with the Are Chief, who is at present at Sun ?edro, over the
telephone.
He also suggested the desirability of havin some sort of a
signal to be u.ed in case of Fire and to call certain of the city
officials when needed; also the adoption of an electrical wiring
orainance.
It was moved by Trustee Davis, seconded by Trustee Smiley, that
the City Clerk oe and he is hereby instructed to communicate with
several fire alarm signal companies with the idea of procuring prices
on their apparatus. Carried.
the City Attorney agreed to bring to the next meeting his file
covering an electric wiring ordinance, which was discussed by the
Board sometime ago.
Trustee Davis advised the Hoard that the marshal is now in
possession of a book, which will permit him to keep a complete record
of traffic violations.
Trustee Davis suggested a change in the location of the street
button at Concord Street and Grand Avenue. It was moved by Trustee
3mileY, seconded by Trustee Davis, that the street button now located
in the center of the intersection of Grand Avenue and Concord Street
oe moved to a point in the center of Concord Street on a line
parallel with the-Southerly curb line of Brand Avenue. Carried by
the following vote:
Ayes:. Trustee Davis, Smiley and hueger..
Loos: Trustee Bryson.
Jot voting: Trustee Binder.
Absent: None.
Trustee Davis also recommended the erection of traffic signs
to safe -guard children and pedestrians on Virginia Street, north of
.rand Avenue. roved by Irustee Lavis, seconded by Trustee omiley,
that the City Clerk be and he is,hereoy authorized and instructed
to purchase one -half dozen street signs reading: "SLO +! - JA,,LiRUUS
CMET ", at a cost not to exceed 025.00. Carried by the following
vote:
Ayes: Trustees Binder, Bryson, !Avis, Smiley and Rue er.

The City Attorney reported that he and the Health ifficer had
been unable to het together in the matter of amendments to the .
existing plumbing ordinances of the City of it Segundo, but that he
anticipated having the tentative draft of the proposed amendments at
the next meeting.
He reported also that the Resolution of Intention would be
presented at the next meeting, that bein; the earliest time the same
could be legally acted upon.
