A regular meeting of the Hoard of Trustees of the City o--'-' &l
Segundo was called to order at 7 :30 o'clock on the above date in the
Council Chamber of the City Hall by Carl E. Rueger, President of the
Board.
ROLL CALL.
Trustees Present: Binder, Davis, Smiley and Rueger.
Trustees Absent: Bryson.

The minutes of the re. -ular meeting neld on the 29th day of
December, 1y20 were read without error or omission being noted. Loved
by Trustee Hinder, seconded by Trustee Davis, that the minutes be
approved as read. Carried.
Trustee Bryson appeared at the meeting during the reading of
the minutes and took his se at, the hour being 7:37 o'clock -0. Ii.
The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held on the 3rd
day of January, 1921, were read. No errors or omissions being noted,
it was moved by Trustee Binder, seconded by Trustee Smiley that the
minutes be approved as read. Carried.

The following communications were read and disposed of as
indicated:
HAROLD D. DUAL, aavis ing that he is now the owner of the
building rented by the City as quarters for the R1 Segundo Volunteer
Fire Department, that rent from January 1st, 1921 is payable to him
and notifying that the City is now renting the building on a month to
month basis. Jrdered filed.

Council, referring to previous correspondence and certificates left in
care of the Board of 'Trustees. Ordered filed.
A petition from James 111eill and others, requesting the improve-
ment of Palm Avenue from iiain Street to Eucalyptus Drive.
moved by Trustee Davis, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that the
following resolution be adopted:
'ITFEMEAS, it appears that certain residents
and property owners of the City of El Segundo
are willing to pay certain moneys in the sum
of 9"168.00 into the Treasury of the City of E1
Segundo, California, and into the General Fund
thereof, for the purpose of cau;�.ing certain
street improvements within said city to be made,
and,
'dAEic�:AS, said sum has been deposited with the
City Clerk of said City with instruction to pay
the same into Laid General Zu.nd upon the adoption
of the following:
11J17 TH&HE2JRE, BE IT R:,'SJLVED: That the Street
Superintendent be and he is hereby authorized and
instructed to cause the portion of that certain
public street within the City of E1 Segundo,
California, known as East Palm Avenue, lying and
being between .lain Street and Eucalyptus Drive,
to be improved by the construction therein of the
following improvement, to -wit:
A rock and oil improvement, similar in
character to that used in the improvement
of Palm Avenue west of i�-Lain Street ".

J. V. Van Eaton, Secretary of the El Segundo Chamber of
Conzaerce, advised the Board that at its last meeting held on the 3rd
day of January, 1921, that body had approved the acquisition by the
City of El Segundo of a fire alarm system, and recommended to the Board
of Trustees that a bond issue for the purpose, not to exceed 410,000.00,
be placed upon the same ballot with the proposition to vote bonds for
a municipal water works, should an election for that purpose be held.
The Chair requested z.r. Van Eaton to file the matter in writing.
1"r. Young, the local representative of the County Health Department,
made several suggestions, which if agreeable to the Board, he thought
should be incorporated in the ordinance now being prepared to amend
existing .plumbing; ordinances. It was suggested that he get in
consultation with the City Attorney, so that his ideas might be
incorporated in the tentative ordinance which the Attorney is preparing,
so that the entire matter :night be discussed by the Board at a later date.

Trustee Davis of the Public Safety Committee, reported that he
had not completed his investigation of the needs of the lire Department,
and that he would make some recommendations at a future meeting.
He reported also that he had -had .several conversations with the
City -Larshal, and that he expected an improvement in the marshal's work.

NEEW BUSINESS.
;roved by `trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Davis, that the
sum of X5365.00 be transferred from the General Fund to the Bond
Interest and Redemption Fund by the City Clerk and the City Treasurer
and that the accruing interest and principal of the improvement
bonds of the City of El Segundo be paid therefrom,as coupons
representing the same are presented.
Carried by the following vote:

The City Engineer advised the Board that I,;r. Cleland of the
Southern California Gas Company had informed him that in response
to a request made by the City for a map showing the locations of
their pipe lines within the City, he intends furnishing their official
map, which is bound in a corduroy covered book,.and that if desired
he will send an engineer to 31 Segundo occasionally to mare additions
to the map as new lines are laid; also that the Gas Company desired
to borrow the tracings of the official map of the ,City of D1 Segundo
for the purpose of making new maps for themselves.

Southern California Gas Company be allowed to borrow the tracings
of the official map of the City of • l Segundo. Carried by the
following vote:

mr. idoriarity, having made application to rent the City Hall
Auditorium on January 15th, 1921, for the purpose of giving a dance,
it was moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by trustee Bryson, that
such permission be granted upon the payment to the City Clerk of
the customary rental fee of ,7.50. Carried.

hinged platform in the City Hall Auditorium be repaired at a cost
not to exceed 475.00. Carried by the following vote:

.1oved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Davis, that the City
Clerk be and he is hereby authorized and instructed to have the
electric stoves in the Lunicipal Building repaired by the Southern
California Edison Company at a cost not to exceed .30.00. Carried
by the following vote:
