1921 FEB 23 CC MINE1 Segundo, Cal. February 23, 1921. A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of El Segundo, California, was called to order at 7:30 o'clock P. M. on the above date in the Council Chamber of the City Hall, by Carl E. Rueger, President of the Board. ROLL CALL. Trustees Present: Binder, Bryson, Davis, Bmiley and Rueger. Trustees Absent: None. READING JF THE kINUTES OF PREVIOUS LiEETING. The minutes of the regular meeting held on the 16th day of February, 1921, were read without error or omission being noted and it was moved by Trustee Bryson, seconded by Trustee Smiley, that the minutes be approved as read. Carried. WRITTENi COLIMUNICATIONS. 2he following communications were read and disposed of as indicated: MRS. LEAHY KELLY, an application for permission to use the auditorium on March 26th for the purpose of giving a dance. Loved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee-Bryson, that permission be granted, subject to the payment of the customary rental fee of 47.50 to the City Clerk. Carried. ENDICOTT & LARSON, seeking to be employed to Keep records of street improvements. Ordered filed. ELMER A. BURLINGAia, an application for a permit to operate. a stage line between E1 Segundo and Inglewood. Moved by `Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Davis, that the application of Elmer A. Burlingame to operate an automobile stage line between E1 Segundo and Inglewood, said application being Application No. 5, be granted for the maximum period provided by law, subject to the rates, schedules and other conditions enumerated in said application and further subject to the effect of such ordinances or resolutions of the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo as are now in force or may hereafter be adopted, and subject also to the granting of permission by the Railroad Commission of the state of California for such stage line. Said permission shall be revocable at any time. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Binder, Bryson, Davis, Smiley and Rueger. Noes: None. Absent: None. 1V. D. SICKLES?, requesting permission to remove two acacia trees from in front of his premises at 729 Virginia Street, lioved by Trustee 6miley, seconded by Trustee Binder that such permission be granted. Carried. CITY OF AI&C -BRA, requesting the adoption of a resolution to appoint a committee to act in contnction with committees appointed by other cities to work out a plan for the state development of hydro - electric power. Ordered filed. ORAL CO.:u- UNICATIONS. None. REPORTS OF STANDING C{3Iu UTTEES. Trustee Davis of the Public Safety Committee, reported that it was practically assured that Teddy Stewart would accept a position as Relief Fire Engine Driver and that he was under the impression that he could get another man for the same purpose. Brief consideration was given the matter of the purchase of jail cells and by general consent action thereon was deferred indefinitely in anticipation of a decline in prices of steel products. ?AYIN G BILLS. The Clerk advised that tne_,'ire.;,en nad made application for permission to use the ::ity hall Auditorium on the evening of luarch 30th, 1921. :.roved by 2rustee Binder, seconded by Trustee Smiley, that such permission be granted and that no charge be made. Carried. The clerk advised that Toward Tracy had applied for permission to use the "'ity riall Auditorium for the purpose of holding a dance on %larch 5th and Larch 12th. Moved by lrustee Bryson, seconded by Trustee Davis that Howard Tracy be granted permission to use the pity Hall Auditorium on the evening of Larch 5th upon payment to the City Clerk of the customary rental fee of X7.50. Carried. The Clerk advised that Lr. E. L. Loldurry desired a permit from the Board of Trustees to lath his -heatre building now being erected in Fire :)istrict i�o. 1 with button lath instead of metal lath as required by Section 80 of Ordinance i1o. 31. L. 1rcLlurry has applied for permission to lath his theatre building on the East side of Richmond Street between Franklin Avenue and El Segundo Avenue with button lath instead Of metal lath as required by Section 80 of Ordinance No. 31, and 17HEIHEAS, in the opinion of this Board of Trustees, button lath is equally as good or better than metal lath for the purpose herein mentioned, NOd THE RLr 0RL, BE IT FESOLVED: That by virtue of the 7. powers vested in it • under provisions of Secti 10 � on of said Ordinance No. 31, this Board of Trustees hereby grants permission to the said E. L. MclIurry to sub- stitute button lath for metal lath in the said theatre building ". Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Binder, Bryson, Davis, Smiley and Rueger. Noes: None.
