An adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City
of 31 Segundo, C• li-`'ornia, was called to order at 12 :00 o' clock IToon
on the above date in the Council Chamber of the City Hall, bl, Carl E.

Trustees Absent: Binder.
Trustee Binder appeared following roll call at 12 :02 P. L. and took
his seat.

The minutes of the regular meeting held on April 6th, 1921 were
read and approved upon motion of Trustee Smiley, seconded by i'rustee
Davis, which carried.
The minutes of the regular meeting hela on the 13th da;r of April,
1921, were read. iJo errors or omissions being noted'. it was moved by
Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that the minutes be approved
as read. Carried.

The following communications were read and disposed of as
indicated:
r. `Ii. HO -.d ;D, requesting permission to out the curb for the
purpose of constructing a driveway into his premises at 624 Penn Street
and for permission to remove one tree which is in the path of the
proposed driveway. Lioved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee
Bryson, that the permit requested be granted, subject .to the work
bein- done in accordance with the recommendations of and to the satis-
faction of the Street Superintendent.. Carried.
HA:: Y B. CULB R, advi.3ing that the 6awtelle Annexation case
ti.)uld be heard before thea`upreme Court on April 14th, 1921, at the
hour of 10 :00 o'clock A. Ordered filed.

From this District, advisin, them that this Board of Trustees favors

them to use their influence for its passage. Carried.

The City Clerk advised that ne had ordered the meter in the Baxery
Building removed to a location -.where it would be at all times under the
control of the persons authorized to use the hall in said building and
that the electrician had promised to make the change on or before the
20th day of April.
Moved by 'Trustee Bryson, seconded by Trustee Smiley, that the
demands be allowed and warrants drawn on the General J'und for the same.
Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Binder, Bryson, Davis, Smiley and Rueper.

Moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that the
Street Superintendent be and he is hereby authorized and instructed
to reconstruct the driveway through the sidewalk into the premises
of Dr. H. A. Davis at the Southeast corner of Concord Street and
Franklin Avenue, so that the same will not constitute a hazard
to the safety of pedestrians. Carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Binder, Bryson, Davis, Smiley and 1 ?ueger.

Absent: None.
The marshal announced the appointment of 4. J. Richards as a
deputy marshal and requested the Board's approval of the same.

ment be approved. Carried.
The clerk advised that I._r. A. 1". Fitzgerald had informed him that
the piano in the auditorium is in need of repair. _ -he matter was
referred to Trustee Davis for attention.
Trustee Rue: er drew attention to the fact that newsboys permit
the wrappings from their bundles of papers to be scattered about the
streets, particularly on 173rand avenue east of ,iain Street. For
correction of the nuisance, the matter was referred to the Public
Safety Committee.

penditure of not to exceed ,150.00 for addition to the lavatory at the
.- MniCioal warehouse be and the same is hereby authorized and that the
matter be referred to the ?ublic Works Committee. Carried by the
