An adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City
of El Segundo was called to order at 7 :30 o'clock P. ,u. on the above
date in the Council Chamber of the Uity hall, by Carl E. Rueger,
President of the .board.

rrustees Present: Binder, Davis, Smiley and Rueger.
Trustees Absent: Bryson.
Trustee Bryson appeared at the meeting at the hour of 7 :35
o'clock and took his seat.
Moved by Trustee Binder, seconded by Trustee Smiley to dispense
with the reading of the minutes of the preceding meeting. Carried.

1rhe following communications were read and disposed of as
indicated:
A letter from the Standard Oil Company regarding the paving
of the alley between Eucalyptus Drive andStandard Street off of
Mariposa Avenue. The Clerk was instructed to inform the Company
of the regular procedure for paving such alleys.
A letter from G. dhittock and K. West regarding a movable
sleeping quarters. It was moved by Trustee Smi]W, seconded by
Trustee Bryson that the petition be denied. Carried.
ORAL CONMUN ICATIONS .
Mr. E. V. Miller addressed the Board relative to moving a
house belonging to the Foundation Company down E1 Segundo Avenue.
It appeared that the time chosen to move this house should be that
wherein the traffic would be blocked the least.* Mr. Miller went
out to see IIr. H. D. Foster, who said that he would have to confer
the .following day with the Standard Oil officials, in view of which
the matter was deferred until noon of October 2nd, 1920.
Mr. Duley brought up his road proposition again, the City
Attorney reviewing the correspondence from the Mark= heirs, etc.
The City Attorney also went into the procedure necessary for
condemnation, in the course of which he stated that the City would
have to deposit apex -tain amount. with, t Court to cover possible
damages*"' ere g by iscussio� necessary procedure, it was
generally agreed to let the Attorney resort to telegraphing to get
the Nark Estate deeded.

N3W BUSINESS.
The City Attorney reported quite fully oh the meeting
of the City Attorneys' Association, which he attended, in the matter
of the ruling recently made by the Supreme Court in the matter of
State Traffic :Laws_. He reviewed the fact that he had stated to
the Board at some time previous that the Marshal should prosecute
for traffic violations under the State laws as far as possible. He
read the important State Traffic Laws and considerable discussion
ensued.
Trustee Smiley recommended having the gutters on Zl
Segundo Avenue, between Richmond and Virginia Streets, fixed, as
these were at present completely filled with dirt and the curbing
obliterated.
Moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Bryson, to
finish this street from the side of the existing paved portion of
the highway to the curb with rock and oil. Carried by the following
vote:
Ayes: Trustees Binder, Bryson, Davis, Smiley and Rueger.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.
Loved by 'Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Davis, that
the meeting adjourn. Carried.
