L. on the above date in the Council Chamber of the Cty_Hall by jarl E. Rueger, President of the Board. ROLL CALL. Trustees Present: Binder, Bryson, Davis, Smiley and nueger.. Trustees Absent: None. The following communications were read and disposed of as indicated: H. 11. JJHNS -KA11V IDLE CO., acknowledging receipt of the Clerk's letter, which advised them of the Board's decision not to give the Auditorium acoustical treatment. Ordered filed. YOUNG, applying for a permit to move two 1 story frame buildings. moved by Trustee Binder, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that R. B. Young be and he is hereby granted permission to move two 1 story frame buildings from the North side of El Segundo Avenue near Maryland Street, to the North side of Palm Avenue near Bonita Vista Avenue over and along the route described in his application for such permit. Carried b7 the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Binder, Bryson, Davis and Rueger. Noes: Trustee Smiley. Absent: None. A letter from the City Engineer of the City of Los Ange led, advising of a meeting to be held in the City Hall of that City on the 30th day of November, 1920 at 2 :30 o'clock P..M., for the purpose of considering some method of abating the Hyperion nuisance. The City Clerk quoted various prices obtained on additional dishes for the City Hall Auditorium. It was moved by Trustee Smiley , seconded by Trustee Davis, that the City Clerk be and he is hereby authorized and instructed to purchase five dozen plates, five dozen mugs and five granite pitchers, at a total cost not to exceed FIFTY DOLLARS, (450.00). The Clerk reported in connection with the so- called jXley road, that he had received amended escrow instructions from all of the persons interested except the iUark Estate and that the deeds for all of the property to be used for street purposes except that of the ..iark Estate had been recorded. The City Attorney read a contract as drawn by himself for the employment of Olmstead and.Gillelen as supervising and consulting en•ineers in the :natter of the acquisition of a municipal water works. It was moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Davis, that the contract be.sent to Olmstead & Gillellen for their consideration. Carried. The pity Engineer advised that he estimated it would cost p425.00 to remove surplus earth on Llaple Avenue 'lest of Bonita Vista Avenue. The City Attorney reported that he had delivered a copy of the contract for the employment of a County Health Officer as City Health Officer t; Dr. Pomeroy, but as yet had no reply from that official concerning the acceptance or rejection of the contract. The City Attorney advised that as per previous instructions, he had investigated the surcharges being assessed by the Southern California Edison Company and found that they are entitled to 1010 and 27/.� on charges for municipal street lights and that they are applying for oermissi.)n to deduct 107/ from this total. UNFINISHED BUSIIIESS. moved by Trustee Binder, seconded by Trustee Davis, that the request of Hugh E. Ritch for permission to use the Firemen's Quarters by the proposed club of ex -U. S. Navy men be placed on file. Carried. PAYING BILLS. The following demands, having had the approval of the Committee on Finance and Hecords, were read: Pacific :electric Ry. Co. �100.02 Standard Oil Co. 11.46 Total 111.48 koved by Trustee Binder, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that the demands be allowed and warrants drawn on the General Fund for the same. Lioved by l�istee Smiley, seconded by i'rustee Davis, that any person or persons hereafter desiring any kind of street improvement, shall file a notice of same with the City Clerk, who shall communicate such information to the Board of Trustees and said Board shall thereupon cause the City Engineer to estimate the cost of the desired improvement and determine what proportion of such cost shall ue paid by the property owners. Carried. Moved by Trustee -binder, seconded by .trustee Bryson, that the action with respect to the resolution ordering the improvement of Maple Avenue from virginia Street to Rillcrest Avenue, taken at a regular meeting held on the l7th day of i4ovember, ly20, be and the same is hereby reconsidered. Carried by the following vote: Ares: Trustees Binder, Bryson, Davis, Smiley and Rueger. Noes: None. Absent: None. The marshal ann,)unced the appointments of C. Woo Atkinson and frank L. 2'uller as deputies and requested the Board's approval of the same. moved by Trastee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Binder that the appointments of C. Atkinson and Frank L. Tuller as deputy marshals be and the same are hereby approved. Carried. loved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Bryson, that the City ;�igineer be and he is hereby authorized and instructed to do the necessary surveying to locate the so- called Duley road. Loved by Trustee Bryson, seconded by Trustee Binder that when the so- called Daley road is graded and rolled by the Street Superintendent such work be done to a width of twenty feet. Moved by rustee Davis, seconded by Trustee Binder that the City engineer be and he is hereby authorized and instructed to locate such street centers as he deems necessary at this time and to arrange for the preservation of such marks.
