1920 MAR 04 CC MINE1 Segundo, Cal. March 4, 1920. An adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo was called to order at 12:00 o'clock Noon, on the above date, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall, by William C. Bryson, President of the Board. ROLL CALL. Trustees Present: Kessels, Smiley, Vandervort, Ward and Bryson. Trustees Absent: None. Moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Kessels, that the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed with. Carried. WRITTEN C0;.LTNICATION8. A petition from C, W. Smith and others, requesting the improve- ment of Virginia Street, from Palm Avenue to Collingwood Street, and contributing $469915 toward the cost of such improvement, was read. It was moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Kessels, that the following resolution be adopted: "W12 -MEAS, It appears that certain residents and property owners of the City of E1 Segundo, are willing to pay certain moneys in the sum of 4469.15 into the Treasury of the City of E1 Segundo and into the General Fund thereof, for the purpose of causing certain street improvements within said city to be made, and Whereas, said sum has been deposited with the City Clerk of said city, with instructions to pay the same into said General Fund upon the adoption of the following, Now therefore, be it resolved that the Street Superintendent be and he is hereby authorized and instructed to cause the portion of that certain public street within the city of E1 Segundo, California, known as Virginia Street, lying and being between Palm Avenue and Collingwood Street, to be improved by the construction therein of the following improvement, to -wit: Same construction as was used on Palm Avenue from Main Street to Collingwood Street ". Ray Kemper, a licensed surveyor, map of Tract 3690, being a subdivision of Lot Segundo, requesting that the same be approved was discussed and it was recommended by the Corey, that the same be approved. A representative of the Automobile Club of Southern California, requeste& directions from the Hoard as to the placing of three street indicators on E1 Segundo'Avenue at the intersections of Fain, Richmond and Concord Streets. By general consent the matter was referred to the Street Superintendent. It appearing that a number of property owners contemplate the erection of dwelling houses on Virginia Street and that they are desirous of obtaining official grades for the same, it was moved by Trustee Smiley, seconded by Trustee Kessels, that the City Engineer be and he is hereby instructed to prepare grades on Virginia Street, from E1 Segundo Avenue to Collingwood Street. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Kessels, Smiley, Vandervort, Ward and Bryson. Noes: None. Absent: None.
